  2. I used to go to the Delaware range until it got so crowded. But that was before a ranger on duty, and it would sometimes creep you out and you'd leave. I would try the Deer Creek range instead.

Although the two shotgun ranges at Delaware for clays were never crowded. If there is still two of them. Bring your own launcher.

edit: Is there a pistol range at Deer Creek? (Looked it up, yes there is.)

And Deer creek has an archery course which is FREE!!!!!!!!  pretty cool. My buddies and I go there and shoot archery quite a bit in the fall leading up to deer season.

  3. My wife thinks i'm paranoid, but indulges me because storing water and ammo is relaively unobtrusive and inexpensive.

Even when we have "no food" in the house and badly need to go shopping, there are enough cans of tuna, boxes of rice, etc. to feed my family for a week or more.

that gives me 7-10 days to find other sources of food.  The deer population being what it is in NEO, I'm not worried.  I should learn how to dress a deer though...

For water, I keep 3-4 days worth in gallon jugs purely for the sake of convenience.  Melting snow or boiling creek water (within a mile of my house) are viable options in a true long-term emergency.

Where I think people go beyond "thoughtful" and into "paranoid" is when they start building secondary structures to withstand _________ disaster.  I'm not mentally fit to live in an underground box with my wife, a kid, and two dogs for any length of time, so what's the point?

"super storm" Sandy was an eye-opener for many of my neighbors.  We didn't need my generator for long, but it was on-loan to my parents' and their neighbors for a week thereafter, powering refridgerators and the occasional microwave.

See bold above. You either dont have that much ammo or bought it a while ago when the prices were still good. Hell the cost of ammo now is like storing silver bars :)

  4. Plasma.

All cutting that uses heat is gonna cause some issues with the hardness near the cut -  as does welding. I'm  quite aware of it. Thanks.

Only commented because AR400-500 isnt cheap and even though you are blasting it with a firearm, I have see some people get all butthurt because the edge of their target chipped a bit and they wanted to blame the cutter. These are also the people that get all upset when their safequeen firearm gets a scratch in it. Now I can understand some things have sentimental value like antiques or firearms that have been passed down but my philosophy is that for anything I buy, I use it the way it was designed. My comp rifle looks like pounded dogshit and I cant even count the number of times its been dropped, kicked over, smashed into an obstacle while running/maneuvering a course, submersed in water/storms, or god only knows what else.

  5. If anyone wants something for a target; you buy the steel and I'll cut the shape and weld on a chain or make a stand - free of charge.

I can also get the steel locally if you don't wanna buy it yourself.

How are you cutting it? Plasma or waterjet?  AR400-500 should be cut with waterjet ideally or else you can cause embrittlement on the edges where its been cut with plasma. Granted its going to get shot at but just passing along the information.
