  1. Are you trying to stay under 2k in weight. You can grab a older bimmer like mine, gut it and get it close to 2200-2400#. Make 1000rwhp and be good to go. The axles are tough, come with a lsd and people are running low 10's on stock rears. You can pick up one for about 1500 with minimal rust. can squeeze a 26" tire in the rear with some fender rolling and can get them in a 2 or 4 door. :)

1000rwhp in any motor, on a budjet, is near impossible. ( A motor capable of that stock is NOT a budjet motor!)

And again, if its not less than 2080, its no better than a Colt to me. and Im trying to go lighter than the Colt was, and make more power

    didnt you buy that civic?

    rwd it with a 4g

    I just sold a Civic....

  2. Last, but not least small RWD car:

    Fiero

that thing looks boss, but the lightest model is 2500lbs

Cool looking shit man, I dig it.

    What about the Festiva? :)

I have a Metro now- and the chassis/suspension and brakes are SCARY even at 60whp. Festivas are not much better.

There's plenty of glass pieces around to throw on the vega/pinto/spirit chasis. They aren't as porky as you'd expect. It's a safe bet to say atleast 2,500+lbs on either car, but you also have a large rear axle to deal with. IMO worth the weight not to snap it like half shafts or CV axles. But it is hard to argue with a colt w/4G63 power to weight ratio.

Unless I can make 200more hp, and loos 200lbs, I wont see my goals.

  3. Examples:

You cant get into any of those care cheap enough to make a $5k bugjet feesable for the power needed. NO WAY.

And-all except the Datsun are pretty porky compared to a 3G colt.

The 4G sounds like your best bet then.

As Scott pointed out with the Datsun, there are tons of little old RWD Jap cars that would be awesome for a project like this.

As covered RX-7 > 240 for my needs, and I already have that covered.:)

Also, if you have never seen pics of the Colt, there are a few here-http://shearerfabrications.com/dev/gallery/jriccio

  4. Do you still want to stay 4 cylinder/big turbo combo?

I can think of a few that are light weight/big motor combos.

Im open for anything, but IMO the 4G is the cheapest way to make it happen. Suggest a combo that I could see 1000hp per ton for $5k or less-TOTAL.

    Im all ears....

  5. Speculating-I want to have a chassis that is best allaround for what I want-same reaosn why I went with the RX-7. With that- I wanted-

    1)Cheap

    2) Fit a 275 under it

    3) Have a strong enough stock rear end/axles for BIG power, at least consistent 1.6 60 foots on street tires.

    4)Relativity long wheel base

    5)Realitvly light.

Was looking at Miatas (no tire/weak rear end/hard to find cheap)

280z (hard to find/weak stock rears/ruff stock suspension)

240's (iffy rear, open diff/usually rotted out)

Stangs (Cheap-good enough rear/good aftermarket/HEAVIEST of the pack)

and RX-7 (Win, in mostly every category)

The TII RX-7 IMO is the best light budget RWD platform you can work with.

  6. I was always intrigued by how fast you could go, for next to nothing, in a light chassis. Couple that with a next to nothing 4G63 powerhouse, and you have a next to nothing build. The RX-7 is obviously performing well these days, and I do not think I am going to change anything for next season. It works-the tranny has not grenaded yet-its meant to be.

So looking forward, I think its time for another "The Colt" type build with one goal in mind-ridiculous trap speeds on a rediculously low budget. A Forward goal of the nearly unachievable 1000hp per ton.

    For comparison-

The Colt-708whp@30psi. Lets guess if I would have got the 1600cc's in there I would have stopped the part at 40psi, estimate 800whp. @ 2300 with driver, its still not there. So-looks like I need to loose a little weight, maybe make a little more power. (IMO, a tuff with budget engine internals)

So-what are everyone's thoughts on engine options?

    Chassis options?

    Discuss-

  7. i dont know some faggot who is completely retarded. His poor father, thats all i can say.

    LOL.

So it needs a motor, AND a tranny?

Stock otherwise? Whats the deal? CALL ME
