  1. Wonder how these would look on the Rx7?
  2. Try a different dealer- see how it goes. Seems like Cordell aussi can help?
  3. His being upset makes sense then, especially with this
  4. 1) Is this stuff your assuming would be covered under a factoy warrenty? 2) What is the factory warrently entale? 3) Its GM, what did you expect? Not being a dick, but when I got by V, I know what it was, a shiney mallet. Nothing more. You got the new and improved shiny sledge hammer. If you wanted a swiss watch, you should have bought something from Switzerland. 4)*edit* you called it! http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1850175&postcount=70
  5. The intake manifold as in the plastic one? Its the stock Ls1 unit. Would a bigger one help? Heck yes, but I already cant use the power the car is making, so I am not worried about it. Video of that later...lol. Once I can lower the gear ratio SIGNIFICANTLY, the car should hook alot better. Once I can get the car to use the power its making, I will turn up the jam. Really, the next mod should be a Cam so I can carry the power into the higher RPMS. It falls off a cliff after 5900 now with the stock cam, but I have to rev to 6600 to have a change at seeing good boost on the shift to 5th (I go thought the traps mid way though 5th gear! 4.10 rear+26 tall ties+the suck with big power) For $15k, I'll drive it down to Texas myself.
  6. Test and tune with a local big HP car. More to come...
  7. WTF happened? And-you did that last week? Did it look like that when you took it down track? If so, thats awesome! (Glad your OK)
  8. Real man shit there! Love that your still rocking this car. Any changes since your last time out? If your interested there is an all day rental up here on the 18th
  9. You've got to be shitting me
  10. Anyone know his last address? Can do some digging see if he still owns it (or if he ever did)
  11. How much did they give you on trade in?
  12. Your right. Its was an easy, early retirement for the creator. It works for the consumer. It seems to be as lucrative as flipping burgers for the drivers. Honestly, if you enjoy it more power too you. But, you say 10k "would be easy" to clear in a year, which suggests you have not seen that kind of income from it. I just don't understand why anyone would compromise their time, or the wear and tear on their car for less than that? Even on a part time basis.
  13. If you w2 or 1099 (whatever they give you) more than 10k for being an UBER driver all year, I'll paypal you $100. Still seems like a waste of time/effort/money to me.
  14. Sad, but understandable. You should bring it to the "car show" at Brubakers Oct 3rd Roll-ons wont hurt the clutch, much.
  15. Its funny how much the little things take the most time. Keep at it!
  16. Help a noob out....what do you need specifically to run these with a stock ECU?
  17. Intake manifold gasket. Old Vs. New. Wonder if that was leaking at all? LOL http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150911_241219395.jpg
  18. Jim is one of the nicest guys int he scene to, and literally never says no to a race. I blame his big turbo build on not being able to come around me on my Busa when it was an RSI car. Great work Wags
  19. Finally had some time to get this thing back together. First-I wanted to make some improvements while I had the top end off. Needed to reworked the vacuum system-so I "tapped" another barb into the back vacuum block. Now, everything has a separate boost reference source. This is very important, and often overlooked for most FI builds. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150907_180457616.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150907_180511366.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150907_231823840.jpg Onto the head improvements. Picked up a set of 703's (or so I thought, read on) for dirty cheap WITH dual springs (unknown brand or mileage, hence the just above scrap price) so I had the valve springs covered. China head studs from Jegs for $95, and I also was gifted a set of Comp 7.4 pushrods from a road Race team that just changed a set and was going to toss them! Thanks guys! Time for an MLS and more RPM. Cleaned things up a bit http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150906_242259233.jpg And get ready to install the 35$ a pair (not even kidding) GM MLS gaskets when I see... THEY ARE NOTCHED HEADS?!?!?!?!? WTF?? These are not 703s! The numbers are ground off-but after looking around they are stock Ls1 heads. If you have no idea what I am talking about-read here http://www.ls1.com/forums/f7/mls-head-gasket-woes-89964/ So according to the internet, I cant use these heads with a GM MLS. If fact, I'd have to put paper gaskets back on to use ANY notch head. I'm pissed! Its 2am I went inside and had a beer. Then, I remembered what this whole car is about-throwing caution to the wind and pushing the limits. So, I grabbed my trusty can on Indian Head and went to town. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/$(KGrHqV,!pME8WpEGf9,BPS,W-wVLg~~60_35.JPG I have used this crap to seal head gasket jobs that 100% should not work- and it has never failed me. Why stop now? http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150906_024220324.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150906_024225773.jpg Note the extra sauce around that infamous "notch". In goes the MLS, and I take the China studs until they felt "tight enough". Its about a 1/4 turn past 80 ft lbs-its a funny spot where they don’t want to turn anymore. Anyone who has put studs in multiple applications knows what I’m talking about. Cleaned up the header gaskets with some sand paper http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150908_010353131.jpg And slammed her back together. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150908_025515626.jpg By this time its 6am, and time for a nap before work. We will see if the notch leaks in the morning.
  20. "oiless" is the term to use here. I have one i picked up cheap I may throw in the back of the CTS-V. They can also be mounted at any angle. http://compturbo.com/images/distributor-projects/scott/viper.jpg
  21. I noted that in my first reply. Unless your talking about what you make on the sale of the car? In that case I assumed it was a given in that calculation. In 99.5% of cases, the new car is still going to be the losing bet. That .5% being the people that bought a Ford GT new.
  22. The math is real easy, cost of ownership. Take all your cost; Car+Tax+insurance+maintenance+finance charges/time you plan on keeping it. Considering initial depreciation, and higher insurance, its hard for a new car to win this fight. Simpler math would simply be Cost+tax/time Compare that to a similar used car, and you will find if you are winning or losing. If you always get a good enough deal that you can sell for a profit or break even in 2 years, a new car will NEVER beat the used car because you effectively have a $0 (or + profit) cost of ownership.
  23. Yup. Only, and I mean only reason I'd sell it is the AC does not work, and I want something that is comfy for the wife and kids for long trips, and trips to the track. Its nice, but its more of a "work truck" than a DD (for me at least)
