Nah. 200k. In my 4 years of ownership, the only non wear times the truck has needed is a starter LOL. I've put tires on it, many oil changes, and enjoyed the stupid reliability. I like the gas for that- vs. a diesel which all the fan boys will tell you will last forever, but typically have a higher cost of ownership. It is a 4x4 with manual T Case.

I will say that this is 100% how I have lived my car life since day one. I have never lost money on a car- and we are talking 30+ cars later. I have only leased once for my wife and it was only because the deal blew every other dealer out of the water, she liked the new car, I was not buying a new car, and it was baby time! They truly gave me a deal no one else was close on (2014 Rav 4, Loaded, 0$ down, $0 first pay, $253 a month for 3 years), and I will never do it again simply because at year 3, I have nothing. Nothing I could have bought for the same $8855 would be worth 0$ at the end of the lease. Nothing! Stupid. If you have any mechanical ability, you should never buy a new car-its a huge hit day one, and a monthly loss due to interest. Even a poor performing mutual fund will make 2-4% a year. Even if your paying a nominal 2% interest rate, you have a net loss of 6%, and that's a worst case scenario!!

That blows dick IMO.

If anyone wants a reliable tow savage-I'd sell my 2000 F350 (Gas) for 3k. I'd even drop it off. Face lift truck-looks good, works great.

Previous owner's collection screams "Nerd". LOL Nice pick up!

How long have you had it? Timing chains/guides been replaced? any light ticking at idle? Very interetsed.
-
its a great deal for an 07! GLWS-if you work a deal w/o the snows LMK-may pick them up

Using stock manifolds? LOVE IT. Wonder if I could fit China 74's on one?

Though there was not much room to move on new Toyotas?

In a 1500 lbs rear engine dragster! LOL Im not going to get an SBE ET or MPH record unless I go auto, I know that. The only one that feasible to chase 6 speed is the T-56 record. -

What brand? OEM? I may go the Ls9 route because the 5.7 is not that much of a difference, and my spare block is a 6.0-so I would need that bore size, and Im all about recycling. You know, its good for the environment. -

Yeah I kind of hate it to be honest-I think its an easy way to lightly torch the head.....but maybe I am just burned/scared from my DSM days..... I really cant believe people run them on 4.8s though, thats a HUGE difference in bore size! Thanks! With cars, most problems are easy to find if you use logic really. I knew what was wrong with the car before I pulled it in the driveway. i am just shocked it had paper gaskets-and it lasted this long!! Besides building turbo kits for them, I am new to the LS platform, but so far I have to say-I love it. Stupid power-reliability, and pretty easy to work on. I am seeing now that its hard to do a full build on these things for cheap (or at least my kind of cheap!!). Even the minor upgrades I am doing now are more than I would have liked to spend on the car. -

Its all learning, and improving! I guess the factory push rods flex naturally above 5500rpm, so they are a "mandatory" mod for more RPM. I really want the car to pop a 9 with the bunk rear end this year, and there are a few events on my radar so the fuel system upgrades may have to wait. I'm going to try and slam head gaskets, pushrods, Valve springs and revise the radiator and have it back on the road in the next 2 weeks. -
Thanks. Yeah it seems like everyone trows ARP's in the truck motors off the bat- but the LS1 and LS6 gusy seem to have much longer life on stock rod bolts under 7k RPMs. I suspect that with a 6k redline stock, I should be good to 6500 for a least another season....time will tell As far as the stock Ls1 Cam, its a down hill party after 6k, but I just hope the turbos make up enough of a difference. I really need the RPM to make the shift to 5th suck a little less.
-
100% bone stock motor=100% bone stock redline Now that the heads are off-I will put some hardened pushrods and springs in her. I have a Cam i garbage picked ( no joke) , but my tuner thinks its too big for the motor, and I am a Jackass and sold the LS6 Cam I had, so its likely going to retain the stock Ls1 cam. It wont carry the power to 6500, but that should get me to a better shift RPM in 5th so the car hopefully wont completly call on its face when I bang 5th
-
Thanks guys! 855 SAE. 851 Uncorrected. (basically perfect air that day on the dyno) 4.10, stock Rx7. 1:1 4th, 0.7 5th, 6000rpm redline=THE SUCK

What did you do to clean it out before you sump'd it?

So I figured between the car overheating from the fan switch failure at the track, and the full geechie runs on he way home, it was time to take a look at the head gasket. What I found may shock you- PAPER GASKETS?!?!? LOL. Yes, I was making near 1000chp on a paper gasket and stock bolts from 1998 ** I just want to note how PERFECT the piston looks- all the credit in the world to Erik@backstreetper.com for literally the worlds best LS1 tune!! i beat the piss out of this poor thing, and the piston looks mint and shows no signs of knock.** http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150821_222551636.jpg And here you can clearly see where the HG pushed into the coolant passege, and torched the gasket. This is on #8 http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150821_222637352_HDR.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150821_222748924_HDR.jpg But wait, there's more! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150821_224303846.jpg from #7 intake I am assuming thats not normal? LOL Yup, went 10.3@136 coasting in neutral with THIS shit-lol. -
Heck no- and tapping the brakes when your mid-geechie would make things substantially worse in most cases Not 100% sure but I don't think they are stiff sidewall. I got them used-but will check. And yup-Fuck Auto!!
-
Thanks for the offer. I am in CLE though so swinging by wonf work! Can you give me the EXACT height of the core? Also does the top tube of the radiator flow water-or just a support? I may be able to notch it to fit my needs. 14x26' is my "perfect fit" for where I want it to go.
-
I'd hate too! It should, and will trap in the mid 150's with the proper gearing, boost control, and traction-all of which I dont have right now lol When I retire, or want to go 8's, I'll consider an auto. Until then, I have way to much fun actually driving the car down the track. It will stay manual for a long, long time I bet. If the car works well with a new rear gear, I may chase the synco'd T56 record

One of the top Media guys in the DSM community took great video of my junk at the shootout. I know I'm working to get the car down the track, but this looks rediculous lol This shows just how bad the car was fuel sloshing the first few passes-and you can hear me shut it down up top on the 10.3 run. Its all learning-but I've got a lot of work to do to actually use the power the car is making.
