Just because something "works" does not mean it cant be improved. Also I'm sure my China Intercooler is inefficient near 20psi. If I can get the IAT's down 40-50 degrees, that will lead to exponential gains in higher gear-especially on back to back pulls in Mexico. The car was pulling timing hard last time at the track. Granted, it was 90+ with 85%+ Humidity and I was hot lapping the fucker, but I know there is room for improvement there.

Few updates... Got lucky to fond a real Re-Amemiya front end semi local. I am nto a body kit/car show guy, but I have always loved the look of the RE cars, and have never seen one live in person. Found a great deal on a real Japanese piece and had to jump on it! Should be going to paint soon. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150703_031537174_HDR.jpg Last time I was out doing some vigorous TnT, I broke my rear end brace for the 3rd time this year. The previous times I have quickly welded whatever metal I found laying around. This time I took 10 minutes to think about it. I found a piece that was strong, beefy, and FREE-the intake support price that everyone takes off their DSM. Bolts right up-and I cut off the 3rd arm to use for the mount point on the sub frame. I think this should last a good bit longer! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150703_021607522.jpg Next Cleaned up some of the gauges- and got the tach working!!! Wired in a jump circuit to boost the signal to the tach. She works-still a little laggy but its better than nothing. Also got the boost gauge and Wideband off my dash and tucked into the cluster. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150703_021740377.jpg And of course-got the needed approval from the crew chief http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150701_142738181_HDR.jpg Next up- intakes for the turbos, EVAC, wiring up the new head lights, and cleaning a few things up for the DSM shootout and some short Mexican vacations in between -
Thanks for all the opinions guys-the luck of finding an real Re-Amemiya front end has forced the issue-and option B it is! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150703_031537174_HDR.jpg

A ticket to the moon. Realtalk, with what I know now.....I am confident I could click an 8 with an Auto and 10k. I know every angle of cheap at this point. I could give you a spreadsheet-I already built that car in my head. The key is being able to fabricate everything yourself. Buying stuff off a shelf will instantly double your cost. -

Some tire pressure testing with the street tries. This is 15psi-3rd gear. Don't mind the dirtiness of the car giddy laughter-was in the middle of ripping the car apart chasing the tach issue.... And a Trip to Mexico against a GT500. Built, Whipple 2.9L and a 50+shot on E85. Im at 12psi and pump gas. https://video-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hvideo-xpf1/v/t42.1790-2/1362608_10100770320089380_738428775_n.mp4?efg=eyJybHIiOjQwMSwicmxhIjo1MTJ9&rl=401&vabr=223&oh=724881e2f41b4e1b1bf58137ba9229f2&oe=559583D2 Sorry, I dont know how to convert it to a non FB link! -
I know Don personally, and he does great work out of his shop. But, if you have seen his house, you would not donate any money for something that will 1) be a write off 2) he can easily afford. 3) Will likely net him more business!!!! There are many, many more things one can donate their money towards that have meaning and will impact our community. This is silly.

How many manifolds are you moving a month now?

Nice! Are you going to tune it on an engine dyno?

100%!!! Love it! Same reason why I love Lexus V8, and Yota V12 Swaps in Supras. Have to appreciate the work to keep it in the family. Agree. People think LS swaps are cheap because a few cheap fucks like me get away with Murder, but I got VERY lucky in finding a car that came with a pile of parts for dirt. Just my Ls1/T56 drop out sells for 5k All day long...and if you start with a truck motor all of the other stuff you need will nickle and dime you to death. Even most of the people I see that post on the "sloppy mechanics" sight have big money builds...5k transmission/converter set ups....built motors......ect.

WTF @ that booster location?! LOL

Love it. What Boost was this at?

Metal blade on a jig saw? http://www.sencan-tools.com/photo/original_3e70502f120581c12b69dfbf6c77cd67/electric-portable-jig-saw.jpg I have a HF jigzaw but only wood blades, and zero time to fuck around. I had 1 hour of "loud car time" and I had to take advatange of it. Not more power-easier power. More power will come with more motor

Sawzall and a dream.....

Option A is more or less than since the filters would be basically be replacing the headlight assembly. Its not really the turbo size-its where its at on the compressor map-if its at the edge of its efficiency range pressurized air coming into the inlet will move it back and free up some power. I hate to use psi as a reference since its a mass-flow thing, but think of it like this- Turbo A is 90% efficiency at 30 psi, and only 70% efficient at 34psi on a 2.0L Maxes out at 35 psi.. if you can get 4psi of charge in front of it, it will move air at 90% efficiency at 30psi, and will have a higher max boost around 39psi That being said-there is some gains to be had with true ram air there, but your right in saying probably not much considering my boost levels.
-
Thats actually not a terrible idea.....but I would lose all hope of any Ram air action. Also, there is not a hole on the other side, but I got a saw zall for that.....
-
I like that. Is there a $20 Chinese version?

Obviously, sucking hot air from the engine bay through a tiny filter is not conducive for making horsepower. So here is what I am currently working with. (Just a short filter on the turbo behind the headlight assemble with I opened up in this pic) Turbo sucks 100% hot air. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095611622.jpg Option A-Straight shot. Pro's -Straight shot! In theory-maximum airflow -Removes the weight of the headlights from the front end -May look cool with a simple screen replacing the OE headlight cover Cons -Have to build and alternative headlight system to sit in the FTP section fot he bumper -Have to duct cold air to it, or run a screen in place of the OE headlight cover -Would not work with FC2000 bumper I may switch to in the future. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095753378.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095801285.jpg Option B Pros- -True COLD air coming directly from the brake duct cut out in the bumper -Keep 100% functionality the 80's pop up headlight action -Can remove filter and add a Ram Air Velocity stack for track duty -Most room for a long filter-full 9inch-least restrictive Cons- -Would have to have 2 tight radius 90' bends in the intake. Would this hurt flow? -Heavier-keeping the OE headlight- http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095828394.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095835111.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20150624_095845024.jpg Opinions welcome! I am leaning towards Option B, but would that pose a significant restriction over Option A?

Anyone else notice that the Semi Truck took the "s" harder than the R8? Savage

Ex Trainer. But, that wont help for what your looking for. You need someone "on the ground" it seems. Good luck!

Us Cleveland boys are hard on shit. Leave soft, don't do 6k clutch dumps on slicks, and it will live a log life!!! I think its a great trans for the money, and wondered why more people didn't use them especially considering how plentiful they are.

Yes, but they are out of date No I wished the TT viper showed up, but glad it all worked out anyways. Hope some of the video comes out. -
I doubt it. V160's have been 7's@185+ I have not seen ANY 350z 6 speeds even see the 8's. Also have helped replace 3 broken 350z (newer "revised" trans) and have never seen a broken v160. I think you'd have better luck seeing a white tiger in the wild. Cant beat the price though-hell I sold my last 350z 6 speed trans for $400!!! thought it seemed cheap, but that was market price at the time

Exited to see this thing finished.
