Weather looks a little damp for Saturday, but I'd definitely be in for this if it looks dry.
-
One thing I've learned over the years is that a bike doesn't need clip-on bars and rearset pegs to be a ton of fun.
-
Depending on the weather (and whether or not I head to Mid-Ohio for the ALMS/Indy race) I might be up for this, although I would probably meet you guys closer to Millersburg. I'll post up either way tomorrow afternoon.

Looks fantastic! I'm literally drooling looking at those pictures. I'm sure you probably get this pretty frequently, but if you ever decide to sell, let me know. I've always wanted one of this generation of 2-smokes, and this is an excellent example.

Cheapest place for fork seal replacement near Akron?

PM Pauly (Isaac's Papa on here) @ DucRx. I'm sure he can take care of it, and he's over in Ravenna, which is reasonably close. Many satisfied customers on here too. -
I'll be there all weekend, probably all over the infield trying to get some photos.

Although I'm a big fan of the 2012 20th red/white anniversary colors, this KR rep. is unquestionably the best looking of the 09+ R1 color schemes, IMO. Consider me super-jealous.

Interesting, I'd heard the transition was noticeable, but wasn't aware that it could be so abrupt. I've never ridden a VFR before, so I'll have to bum a ride and check it out sometime.

Interesting to hear others' perspectives. I used to ride in relatively high gears and try to carry more corner speed, but after my lowside a couple years back I now tend to have lower corner speeds but stay in a lower gear and accelerate more on the exit (the R1's exhaust note *may* have something to do with this as well). Uncle Punk once recommended keeping the revs above 1/2 of redline pretty much all the time. I don't follow it religiously, but I do find it's easier to be smooth on the throttle when I'm not lugging the engine so much. The R1 is way over-geared for the street, so I was pretty much in second or third the whole ride.

Was this while you were waiting for the 3 tow trucks to come pick you up....?

It's an excerpt from 'Song of the Sausage Creature', one of my favorite HST pieces. Mr. Thompson was referring to cafe racers - road people - doing the type of riding that many of us on the forum like to do. I feel like it isn't really as applicable to a competitive environment like roadracing. Just something I like to think about during a long ride when I'm tempted to ride 'fast'.

Great video as always, Doc! I don't think it was too dark at all. I like that I can see my body position in a couple of the shots - gives a good indication of stuff I can work on (like keeping my line away from the double-yellow). I, for one, like the soundtrack

Triumph Speed/Street Triple Tons of fun/sporty when needed but very rider-friendly and extremely comfortable.

Gotta be the Ohleeeeeeeeens. In all seriousness, I think the heavy rain down there recently, combined with the influx increased truck traffic resulted in worse road conditions that the ride we did earlier this year. Either that or I was distracted by Jinu's sweet man candy that last time and just didn't notice.

I can't even make it back to Green - That's why I turned off on 212. It takes longer to get home, but after 10 minutes on the interstate, my throttle hand starts to feel like a withered claw and I wind up taking that route almost every time.
-
Back home, safe and sound. ~330 miles on the day for me. Great route (except for the traffic) and thanks to everyone who led. Looking forward to seeing some of those videos!

Nice and early here, but good to go. Heading out in 30.
-
I don't mind taking a turn at the back either. The ride should be long enough that some time riding sweep will probably be a good change to relax a bit.
-
I should be in for this.

Congrats on a great weekend! I took a ton of photos during the SS race, but unfortunately this was the only one I have of you, which is after the flag dropped. Next year I'll have to pay closer attention before I head to the track...

OH-44 from East Canton through Atwood and either back up or over to Carrolton on OH-39 is a nice ride that I do after work some evenings. From further North, it's probably a ~3 hour loop, but a nice ride. As others have said, the truly good roads don't start until you get South of I-70. Down around Woodsfield/Marietta, just about any numbered State road is great fun, but it's a bit of a haul to get there. As you get across the river and into West Virginia, the roads go from good to amazing. We really need to get an OR overnight trip down that way... OH-646 is one of the better roads that isn't that far South, but it's probably still a 250+ mile loop to get down there from where you are. As Bad mentioned, the Valley has a couple of gems, but there are too many deer/cops/bicyclists/etc to want to do any riding even approaching spirited.

Looks like I did get one decent of shot of Joey coming through T8:

Nice shots, Natedogg! I might have some other shots of the Riders Discount guys that I can post up later. I'll check when I get home. Great to see you too, Brett! I've got a Canon 40D that I've had for several years and a good 300mm lens. The combo works pretty well for motorsports, especially if you can get reasonably close to the track.

Another great weekend for AMA superbike at Mid-Ohio! It's disappointing that the event appears to continue to shrink in size and sponsorship, because the racing continues to be fantastic and I had a great time. Fortunately the weather held off (for the most part) and I was able to get out and get some photos. I went back to some of the spots I'd been to previously and tried to be more disciplined with looking for better angles and using slower shutter speeds instead of just getting a ton of shots, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Supersport race winner Dustin Dominguez on the Daytona 675: Fresh Rubber: Some seriously close racing for 3rd in Supersport: Josh Herrin getting nice and low in T1: Elena Meyers keeping the boys honest: Josh Hayes continued his domination in Superbike: Blake Young and Roger Hayden had a great battle for 3rd: Battle for the lead in Daytona Sport Bike: Steve Rapp looking good on the Attack Kawasaki: Not your average stunt bike: One of these days, I'm going to just jump the fence and walk around in the credentialed area until someone kicks me out, because there are a few spots that I really want to try out (like the inside of the Esses). Until then, enjoy!

Here's another quick video from VA-311, playing around with the camera position to get some shots of my Dad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNduxvnBNA4&feature=plcp
