  1. That's just a bit too far East, and a little too early for me You guys have a good ride.
  2. This. If it's above 50 and not raining, I'm still in for this Sunday.
  3. I was out on the 916 and the R1 on a little loop I ride near Nimisila and it was cool, but pretty nice. We'll have to meet up for a ride around the area sometime.
  4. The Graphic Design world lost a potentially fantastic talent when you (I'm assuming) went into medicine, Nivin. Entertaining as always
  5. A guy I work with who races WERA swears by this stuff. When he buys a new suit he gets rid of the built-in armor and wears this underneath instead. Similar to your comments, he's crashed (quite a few times) in them and they've worked well.

This picture pops up frequently on the front page when I log in, and I click on it just about every time. Damn that Ape is beautiful.
  7. That must be pretty close to where I went down on OH-60 a couple years ago - Looking at the photos in the other thread it almost looked like the same corner but I think we were closer to Millersburg. There seems to be a lot of black sandy stuff on some sections of that road that isn't very good for traction and is tough to see. Glad you're ok. That looks like it was pretty nasty, and the bike can be fixed or replaced. Seriously. I wasn't on that ride, but I saw photos of the aftermath. I still think about that photo everytime I consider 'pushing it' a little more on the street.
  8. ^ That's a good technique, and the one that I use with the FZ. My only attendum is that once you commit to getting it up on the stand, really commit, with enough force to get it on the stand. If you try to baby it up and the bike doesn't go all the way, the bike can become unstable and fall on you. Ask me how I know what being pinned under an FZ1 feels like. It's really not that bad once you get used to it. I'm built like a 10-year-old-girl and can manage the FZ, so with a little practice you shouldn't have any problems, Nivin.
  9. Asheville, NC would probably top my list. Literally 10 minutes from some of the best riding roads in the country, decent climate, and supposedly a great place to live. There are some great places in West Virginia/Tennessee that I would seriously consider too. California is excellent, but generally too crowded for me personally, although there are supposedly some really great places in NorCal/Southern Oregon that are pretty good.
  10. Another nice one, Doc - Definitely was a nice day to be out. We need to get some of that weather on a damn weekend.
  11. So far the timing hasn't been very good for me getting in on the group rides, but hopefully I'll be able to make the NE Meet/Greet ride next weekend. I'm really waiting for us to get some consistently good weekend weather for some longer rides South.
  12. Same here. Was able to take a nice ride over through Hartville and up to the Valley via Kent and back home. Saw a ton of guys out on cruisers, but only one other sportbike.
  13. Minimum: Helmet A* Leather Jacket A* Gauntlet Gloves Sidi Boots Longer/Sportier Rides: All of the Above A* Track Pants zipped to Jacket Currently shopping for a good back protector Finding gear that fits well is key to wanting to wear it. The fit and extra padding in my makeshift 2-peice suit is acutally much more comfortable to wear on long rides than jeans.
  14. Very nice, as always, Doc. Just sorry I wasn't able to make it out with you guys - looks like a great time.
  15. Looking good! Really glad to see everything coming back together after a seriously nasty spill. Let me know when it's all back together and we'll get back out and finish that ride.
  16. If you're willing to swing by Akron sometime (or I find a working laptop in the near future), absolutely! Takes about 20 minutes including pulling/re-installing the ECU.
  17. This. My wife and I camped here over Labor Day weekend a couple years ago and it was great. It's close enough that we were able to take a really nice ride on OH-681 into Athens for dinner/supplies and get back to the site by dark, the facilities were nice, and it wasn't crowded even on a holiday weekend.
  18. Looking good! I'm a huge fan of the exposed 3/4 pipe look on these bikes, and it looks fantastic with the Scorpions. I like the white rear seat too. You're absolutely right about the performance difference after the re-flash. The extra power is nice, but the smoothness is by far the best part. This is now probably the easiest bike to ride quickly that I've ever been on. Now that I have the interface cable, I'd be glad to hook up any other 09+ R1 owners that didn't mind making a trip to Akron.
  19. Sorry I wasn't able to make it guys, appreciate the invite, but the 3:00 start was a little too late. I did wind up heading down to Millersburg and hitting 83-646-93 which was a nice ride. I'm pretty sure I passed Link heading the other direction when I was on 83.
  20. If you guys are interested in tomorrow, the weather in the afternoon looks pretty good and I'm planning on riding. Nothing crazy, but maybe down to Millersburg and back.
  21. If the weather looks good, I'll try to make it.
  22. Glad to hear you guys had a good ride - I'm definitely sorry I missed it, but family obligations and such. Once you get that new tire on, Doc, I'm betting that VFR will handle like a dream. It's a bit bigger/heavier than the Ninja (what isn't though?) but there's not a bike it can't keep in sight even at a quick street pace.
  23. Very nice! I've always been a big fan of the VFR and will probably own one at some point. Now (as others have mentioned) get some pipes so we can hear that sweet, sweet music.
  24. I'll be out of town Hopefully you guys will be able to get in a good ride.
  25. Yeah, weather report was pretty flaky. Fortunately I was able to get out on the FZ for an hour or so, and made it home about 2 minutes before the rain started. Hopefully we can get a nice group ride in soon.
