You won't slow the group down. The group (at least the people I would ride with) will wait for you at the next intersection. You just ride your pace and don't try to catch up to someone (biggest mistake, IMHO).

The news is saying he didn't have a helmet on. Of course, they tend to lie...but I talked to someone the night it happened, who was close to the situation and they said he wasn't wearing one..and it wasn't pretty. Not that it changes anything...another rider lost. RIP.

I don't want to speak for said nurse, but I think she was just venting on the fact that we have to foot the bill for people who don't bother to do the bare basics in taking care of themselves. And then, these people show up in a hospital or DR's office require expensive medical care (free for them) when all they had to do was put down the cheeseburgers or stop smoking. I guess maybe I'm off topic...since I was agreeing with her and it probably has little to do with your OP Justin. Now I'm just ranting.

I had the same symptoms with the stock pads and set up. You could easily bring the brake lever back to your palm after a while. I remember reading ..somewhere...that it might be the fault of the master cylinder. I replaced both the MC and calipers from a 14 and one of those two fixed it. I found the set up on ebay. I don't remember the price...they used to be cheap before the demand shot up because of 10 owners grabbing them whenever they could. I do believe the ZX6 setup is another good replacement. Same Nissin caliper I believe? It's a direct bolt on. The 06/07 is notorious for brake fade. You won't notice it on the street unless you are hitting the back roads hard (which is where I first noticed it). They fixed the brakes in 08, thank god. Check kawforums.com or zxforums.com or zx-10r.net. You'll find an ass load of people trying to swap out the stock setup. My only advice would be to do both the MC *and* the calipers. Good luck.

I don't think I'll be taking the bike to Detroit tonight (rain)...but Sunday is father's day and spending all day riding is a bad look when I have kids at home. Saturday is looking ?!?! for rain.
