The weather is a big ? for FRI and SAT...so as luck may have it, I may still have my bike, at least for this weekend. I'm going to have to play this one by ear.

Absolutely. BUT that generation of ZX10 has a issue with brakes fading with *any* pad. Not only my history, but the Kaw forums had people reporting the same experience. You're absolutely right..it *could* be the pads, but knowing that bike, I'd be surprised if it was.

Well, I suck. Here's the deal. I'm taking an extended weekend during the 4th, and I'm trying to get my car AND the bike up north with me. The only option that I have right now is to ride the bike up before the weekend, have someone bring me back..and then pick the bike up at a later date. It looks like this Friday may be the day I ride it up, since my god brother is headed this way thanks to GM laying him off (he picked up a temp job driving trucks). So, this is the perfect time to get the bike to MI. If it ends up raining on Friday, the bike will stay and I can ride this weekend. If the weather holds out, I have to take the opportunity and ride it up. Begin insults now.

No worries...I figured I just missed the others that were posted, and IP did give me a heads up on the CORE ride..I just plain forgot. Most times, I don't find out I have some free time to ride until last minute.

Do you have a service manual for your bike? Do you know what load your bike expects to see from the OE lights?

I missed the notice where it was against the law to post something conflicting with a CORE ride? IP did tell me about that ride over a week ago...I forgot...and since I don't frequent CORE that often, I guess the 'wtf' escapes me. Was the 536 ride posted in the CLE section on OR and I missed it?

I have been guilty of not wearing a jacket maybe twice.. but I don't think I would be riding with someone in flip flops and shorts. Yikes. Maybe I'll start a thread for this weekend for the non flip floppers.

If it's the ZX10, it's not the pads. I went through the exact same experience on my 06 (same bike). I replaced the MC and the calipers with a ZX14 setup. Straight bolt on. i also slapped on some Galfer pads and some stainless steel lines. My brake fade was gone....never to return. I remember reading on one of the Kaw forums that there was a notice overseas about the MC being the culprit. It could just as easily be the stock brake lines, if you haven't upgraded by now. Regardless, I'm pretty confident you will find that the fade will be fixed by one (or all) of these upgrades. The ZX14 caliper/MC swap was the best mod I did to my bike...hands down.

Is it fading on your ZX10? The reason I ask, is because it's most likely not the pads.

Oh I know he had nothing to do with this..I stated that above. I was just being a smart ass since he gets 'blamed' for everyone going down all the time...which in reality isn't his fault.

I just sold a Ninja 250. It's a great starter bike. It's also a great commuter bike...but once you get a taste of modern sport bike, you won't look back.

Yeah it's a blue color in person. Nice bike...I would have rather been on that for a 400 mile trip (my mileage) than my ass-beater. Nice pics knicks!
