88M transportation may give you the CDL or Hazmat you're looking for. Don't get me wrong I had a blast being half infantry/Combat engineer. I got to blow shit up, kick in doors, serve on a Bradley Fighting vehicle crew, fire all kinds of weapons, and get stuck in the middle east for about 2 years. To be honest with you, I miss being active, but it is a sacrifice if you do choose the active route. My advice is do the active thing before the reserves thing. The reserves part will mess with time in service, grade, pay etc.. It doesn't all transfer over, trust me. There are ups and downs to both sides, but I'm happy being in the national guard for now. If I were to do it over, I would've just stayed in and gone to Italy. I deffinately wouldn't rule out the other services, but the Army by far, pays the best in bonus's and college green backs. I'll be recieving about $1,275/month (Active GI BILL) while I go to school, on top of 100% in state tuition. It's not a bad deal in the least bit, and I got $20K for coming over to the guard from the active world. If you wanna hear a my opinion we could do so over some beers.
