Brandon was the only good thing about Ohio Motorcycle. Where is he now?

They actually had two really good techs that had been there a long time. Well I assume they were still there when they went out of business... I wrenched there for about 10 months, years ago.

Had a couple pretty decent, knowledgeable parts guys too, again at least when I was working there.

  2. I'm equal opportunity. Never had a bad experience from any of them. My most recent was an order I placed with riders discount Monday and a ship notification today. Shows I should receive it this coming Monday.

I use them all and pick the one with the price that I think is fair.

Those who see major improvements probably removed old coolest which had lost efficiency do to corrosion and evaporation over time.  coolent should be changed every two years or you run the risk of corrosion and diminished heat transfer capacity.

The real claim is being safe for the environment.

There is some truth to that. Though I've had positive results with Engine Ice. On my first bike I'll agree the coolant was 4 years old, but the bike only had 700 miles on it when I bought it and swappd out for EI. That was in AZ and I saw 10-15 difference in temps from stock coolant to EI.

My current bike was changed out in under two years because of the positive results and I've only seen 4-5 degrees difference, but still running cooler.

    What to look/test for...

Lead paint, asbestos, old plumbing, outdated electrical, poor insulation, mold, etc.

It's 130 years old, it's gonna have all that unless its had a complete remodel. To a point, some of those aren't a big deal either though, mold certainly is a big one.

I have no expertise in anything of the sort, but I imagine I'd be looking at the structure primarily. It's likely a hand dug basement and rock foundation. It's gonna have cracks and leaks. Termites, water damage, rot...sounds like some starting points.

  5. That sounds typical to me. Sprocket kinda nailed it. I worked for a company that shipped with UPS primarily. We had a 53' trailer backed up to the dock. It usually took us 2 days to fill it. All our orders were marked shipped as soon as they crossed the threshold of the dock door to the trailer. UPS would be a day or two getting there, but it was shipped on our end.

I've shopped with motorcycle superstore before and always liked them. Never been in a huge hurry for anything so 3 to 4 days was about typical for delivery.

  6. Had a 13 escape and had to replace the turbo also. They rejected the warranty saying the push rod had been bent manually for some BS reason. I had just bought it used so I took it back to the dealership I bought it from and because I  was within my 3 day return window ended up having them replace it for me free of charge. The check engine light came on to replace the turbo under the same conditions. Floored it to see how it runs with the turbo and it kinda cut out then the check engine light came on.

I never was very happy with that car. Other than the turbo it did not give me any problems mechanically though.

  7. I bought a new tent the other day and don't need my old one anymore.

It's a mountain hardware lightwedge 2. Probably 7-8 years old. Been used a dozen or so times all motorcycle camping. Been in freezing, sun, rain, etc never once had any leaks. I've waterproofed it two years ago and only used it once since.

Seams are showing a bit of age as well as the plastic windows. Only damage is a small tear in the door screen, I never patched it.

I can set it up and take pics if anyone is interested.

Since I'll likely be shipping it to anyone in Ohio, unless someone is passing through Nashville, I'd like to get $75. Make an offer though.

Doesn't have the same rain fly as that pic in the link, but specs are about the same, as was the price for it new. Actual fly is below. Also does include the footprint.

  8. Alright so maybe y'all would be interested in helping me out a little. I've signed up with big brothers big sisters of Tennessee in an effort to raise $1000. I've had a little success so far with the fundraising, but haven't gotten very far. I figured I'd post here and see if anyone might be interested in giving a little to help my cause.

Absent some kind of data to back it up, I don't believe truck-based SUV's are any safer than car-based.

That said, I would consider a full-sized SUV, but my wife doesn't want anything that large, nor do i trust her with a RWD platform in the snow.

Jeep grand cherokee is one I forgot to list that i have casually considered.  It seems to be on the expensive end though, and without many additional features that the others have for less money.

The grand Cherokee I just picked up is Laredo trim, but it's loaded like a limited. Power everything, leather, panoramic moonroof, heated seats, nav, etc, etc...

It's a 2011 with 85000 miles. It's really everything I've been trying to find for the past 15 months.

I have 3 dogs that I put in the cargo area for short trips. The backseat is plenty roomy for two large adults. It's a really roomy vehicle. I thought it was actually priced a little cheaper than a lot of its direct competition. And as mentioned I prefer the truck chassis.

  10. I just bought a 2011 jeep grand Cherokee. Seems to fit all your requirements. I have nothing bad to say about it so far. Have gotten an average 19mpg with mostly 80% city driving. Havent made a long interstate trip yet, but i think its supposed to get 22+. It's an awd model. Has a V6 and ability to tow up to 5000lbs. I also got it for under 20k.

  11. Haven't read the thread thoroughly, but have a check of all your ductwork to be sure it's sealed well at every connection. I had all my ductwork redone when I first bought my house because I was losing so much air through the joints. Some of the soft flex insulation was in bad shape too. Having the right size ducts helps to distribute the proper amount of air to each vent.
