I've not had any issues with my Vertex SSD's to this point. One 60GB and currently on 2 120GB. But yeah, the Revo's as a boot drive are a complete pain. Most will use a good standard SSD with a Revo as the storage drive. The latest ones didn't look a ton better than the previous models spec wise.

I can concur with most of this as I'm running Vertex 3's as well. Believe it or not, I have almost filled a 120GB version already with only the OS and programs. Also, if you're running at least 12-16GB or more of RAM just turn off the stupid pagefile. You don't need it writing to any disk as long as you have the memory. I run without one and it does just fine (again I have 24GB of RAM though ) If you really want the pay the money and want one of the fastest SSD's I've ever seen, look into Revo's.

B, you don't need no regular lap timer. You need a light speed timer. Besides, you already know your fast enough if you can see the asses of Justin and Jeff.

If you're using a USB3 drive for this it should be very close but USB2 isn't all that fast. Still faster than a conventional HHD though.

Gigabyte UDR3 I thing (if I remember correctly). I wouldn't recommend that particular board due to the SATAIII controller issues. There are plenty of good reliable makers out there.

I'm running two of these and they are fast. Vertex 4's are now out and the prices on the 3's have been falling steadily. Keep an eye out for the 240GB version. Plenty of room for OS and apps as well as a few games.

I've been running a Core i7 w/ 24GB RAM, 2 x 120GB SSD, 1 x 1TB WD HD, 2 x GTX560 in SLI, Thermaltake case, 800 watt PSU, 2 x 24" displays. Frame rates are stupid and the SSD's are the shit....period (as long as you get a decent one because they're not all the same). Boot times are under 7 seconds and when using it for work running 3-4 VM's on the SSD's it doesn't even break a sweat. Jinu...if you want any help just holla. Hell if I can get to the track soon we can throw some stuff together after we're done for the day. All I'm going to say is you get what you pay for. If you go cheap you'll wish you'd of spent the little bit extra to make it better. Do stick with Intel CPU's, ATI has made a come back recently otherwise Nvidia is still a solid performing video card, and if you can do an SSD along with a conventional HDD, do it.

I want to go but I'm not sure if I can yet. Will know more when I get back from vacation.

Yes, normal track days are run by groups. Novice, which is classroom led instruction between on track time...then there's Intermediate and Advanced groups. You spend 20 min. of each hour on the track regardless of what group you are in. Race School is completely different but is run during the same 20 min. sessions and that the Intermediate group runs. They are different and it sounds like you'll be in Novice with other's like yourself that are new to track day riding.
