I like Redbreast, but I've heard others say it's got too much bite for them. You may want to go somewhere to try a pour before buying a whole bottle. If you still haven't bought the Jameson 12yr it's a better buy than the Redbreast in my opinion. Woodford Reserve is good stuff. If you like it you should definitely try Blanton's Single Barrel. Cool round-ish bottle with a racing horse on the top of the cork. It's one of the best bourbons I've had and it's reasonably priced.

very hard to argue much about Macallan 18....except the price.

As for the discussion on winter tires. I'm perfectly fine driving a 2wd truck with half-bald all seasons on it. But I want to be sure that my wife is safe and secure, so she gets snow tires and we all get peace of mind. for summer tires I LOL'd at Jones' comment about the KDW2s. I did wear mine down to the cords, but DAMN were they loud their 2nd half of their life. I've got HTRZIII's now on the M3, but haven't had a ton of mileage on them to tell how they'll hold up. So far though I like them better than the KDW2s. On my wife's car we'll likely use the Conti DWS's for her "summer" wheels and tires.

I disagree with this point. I think they'll continue their current depreciation. I'm not saying they'll drop like a rock or anything, but I think the values will continue down until they bottom out closer to $10-12K for an average example.

You used to only be able to get it on cruise ships as they sold it exclusively in the Caribbean areas (the bottle is curved on the bottom allowing it to rock back and forth with the movement of the boat). Now, you should be able to find it at any nice state liquour store. I think it's around $60-70 a bottle most places. It's got some of the smoke flavor from Johnny Blue, but a different drink for sure. Usually, I'm drinking mine neat. Sometimes I'll throw a cube of ice in there, but as a rule generally not on the more expensive stuff. If I feel that I want to try it "opened up" a bit, I'll put a drop or two of water in it.

first post! Honestly, if you buy it and at first drink don't like it, keep the receipt and I'll buy it for full pop from you. You're correct that older/more expensive doesn't always equal better to everyone, and you'll develop an group of whiskeys you like, but it does generally make sense that people charge more for their better stuff. Also try Jameson 12yr, it's around $40 and heads and shoulders above standard Ja-mo (I drink a good amount of Jameson).

Nice intro. Good power out of the escort too.

err....what are you guys referring to specifically? Mid-Ohio has some of the best facilities of any road course this side of VIR in my opinion. Overall, I'm interested in the change and it seems from the article that since they're keeping all of the current management structure in tact that they are just looking to build on what's worked well for them and not make any huge changes. They'll have big shoes to fill. The family and management that ran Mid-Ohio sometimes was a bit stuffy/stiff from the enthusiast's point of view, but looking from an outside prospective they did a great job keeping it a high class facility that brought great racing there time and time again. Personal story time....my brother reached out to Mid-Ohio last year about my family spreading our father's ashes at the track. They not only allowed us to do so, but one of the management team drove up from Dublin to meet us, drive us on parade laps around the track, and allow us to spread his ashes there at a place we enjoyed together for so much of our lives. The management and ownership team there have been nothing short of a class act all the way. Hopefully the new owners realize this and respect it going forward.

There's no way in shit that the prices of these cars will appreciate. There are tons out there, and they'll go the way of the DSMs. That being said, I always liked them, and think they'll remain good cars for the money (that keeps going down).

I'll also jump back in that Jameson 12yr is a great buy for the money. Great flavor and about $40 a bottle. That would get my nod in the Irish whiskey realm. While I do like a little smokey flavor (Johnnie Blue, or Johnnie Swing), I don't normally go as far as Laphroaig which is probably the most peat/smoke you can get in a bottle. I swear it smells like someone added "liquid smoke" to that stuff. I do like some of the other Islay malts though. As far as smooth as butter goes. I've really enjoyed Jameson Gold, Jameson Vintage, Chivas 21 Royal Salute, and Glenlivet 21....but you'll pay a pretty penny for them. On that front I come back to the French Oak I mentioned earlier for best bank for the buck. Quite smooth with great flavor.

Best buy for the money hands down is The Glenlivet 15yr French Oak Reserve. -for reference my experience has been mostly to Scotch and Irish whiskey, and a bit of bourbon.

Nice looking GSX. Welcome

Every year these rumors pop up, and every year nothing happens. Hell, how many years has it been since they unveiled the 16x? I really want to see Mazda make a viable rotary sports car again, but I'll reserve my excitement until something more concrete shows up.

Yes. If you have 80/20 coverage and have $10K in bills after you have already met your deductible, that makes you liable for $2000

Let me know how this goes Rich. If you don't end up doing this, I think when I ordered new Ground Control links last year they were $130-ish for the pair. -
Nice pics Yasser. I LOL'd at the dust on the front of the car. Maybe I should get a cover for it for winter? nah.

I'm charging the battery on the FD, I should be able to make it out if the battery pulls thru HAHA.

Public places: Tinderbox or Fado at Easton.

I'll be honest that I'm not the biggest fan of the auto, but it's my wife's car and even if she wanted a 6-speed I couldn't find one with the mileage and in the condition we wanted. If you can find a 6-speed that fits your needs then I'd say go for it, but they're hard to find. Also, the bigger front brakes on the 6-speeds are nice, except that pads and rotors are more expensive so keep that in mind. For the exhaust, get an ATLP if you can find one. They're made with Stromung mufflers (what I have on my M3) and sound amazing. I won't be getting one though as we put about 20K miles a year on my wife's car and I don't want the additional noise on road trips.

Welcome to the site. The 85 looks like it could be a nice and fun car. Make sure you have a thick skin, you'll need it here.

If you're considering an auto, then definitely stick to an 07-08 because they updated the transmission to a better unit. Even then, you'll want to change the fluid to help with the inherent slipping issues. Overall the 07-08 models received some updates that are worth getting if you can afford the newer models. If you have some specific questions, just let me know.
