dunno how well it'd do as a DD, but that is one of the best sorted and reliable turbocharged track cars I've come across that wasn't a team race car.
-
sorry to hear that Craig. Hopefully the new ownership will keep the Funday tradition alive or something similar (not very likely though) and we can all go up again next year together.
-
little over 2 hrs if my memory serves. I-80 is maybe a little quicker, but just so much easier that it's worth it. Plus, the toll is only $1 each way as of last time I went.
-
Definitely will be missed. I actually have East Bound and Down on a CD in my car at this moment....which by the way I'll warn you you WILL speed if you're listening to that song while driving.

^^should be good. A little hotter than I expected, but i suppose that's better than being 40 degrees or something. I'm sure it'll make for a nice day. For those interested in making a convoy driving up we'll likely leave from the Polaris area (say, the Marathon station by QSL) around 6:45-ish. Does that sound good for everybody? Remember that you'll need a couple bucks cash for the toll on I-80

they'll give you enough options to make your head spin, but yes they'll get you sorted. Either of the Honda oils I recommended should be available there.
-
oil wise to keep it simple I recommend Honda GN4. If you're not tracking your bike regularly and keep your oil change intervals reasonable I doubt you'll need a full synthetic. If you feel you want more protection go with HP4 which I used for years with great experience. Either way I would stick with a bike-specific oil as they have higher sheer resistance than the vast majority of car oils since they are designed to work in the transmission on bikes. Also many bike oils are able to circumvent the emission-related additive level reductions that oil companies have been goign through over the past few years.
-
it's been a while since the last time I looked under a Katana, but most sport bikes you can drain the oil without removing the fairing....however, you'll want to remove at least one fairing (depending on bike) to remove the filter to keep it from getting on the fairing. As for removal, it's pretty damn easy. Get an allen wrench in the right size and just remove the screws. If you can tune a car this should not be any issue for you.

$500 and I'll prep the M3 to go up for you

hahaha. Yeah, that wasn't actually me it's just a good joke/video that my brother and I reference a lot. It does show a good example of the red mist though. I can certainly handle the bitchin, sometimes you have to take a little sting to actually get better, so if you come up have at it.

good. Shotgun you're taking the canopy!!
-
we usually try to leave around 6:30-6:45. Usual schedule for the fundays are to run until 4pm. I always welcome some instruction/advice...especially for free. I just want to forewarn you that this is what it's usually like to ride in the car with me.
-
HA! Priceless We usually meet up around Polaris and drive up.
-
I also forgot to mention that you'll get a free mosquito fogging if you ride behind me as my stock turbos are on the way out.

Andy (Audion19s) and I are planning on going up to Nelson for their Sept 5th Funday. I think Erik is considering coming as well. I would love to see some of the other CR track regulars come out (Matt/Tinman, Carl, Bobby/VincentRx7, Rob, Craig, Ben/Mrautox, ScienceAbuse) I emailed Carie a week ago and she confirmed that the schedule is still a GO!

nice e30! Always been a big fan of them, and I can imagine it'd pair quite well with a M50. Did you do the swap yourself? I noticed the badges for TCD, but no turbo?....oh and your muffler hangers need a bit of help OK, done being an ass. Welcome to the site -edit: is it bad that I knew you were a BMW guy just by the screen name?
-
cool, thanks for the clarification. I was pretty sure that you could only open pass in HPDE1, but just wanted to make sure. Yeah, I've never driven the pro course, but for a DE type invironment I think the club course would be more challenging/fun. Would they let you pass between 1 and the keyhole though? That would be the only other benefit I could see. I believe Kenny was referring to the idea that track days with motorcycles are better. Having done both for a while I can tell you that bike days are much more exhilarating, but car days allow you to relax a bit more and have more fun.
-
goofy, i've never been to a DE at Mid-Ohio that didn't run the club course. Maybe it's a NASA thing or something. I asked about the passing because it looked like the S2K passed you on the back straight without a point, or maybe it was out of camera view?

what I was getting at here fellas
-
thanks for the correction. That's what I was getting at. I'm always scared when I hear people talk about buying houses as an investment, or saying that their house is their biggest asset....when it's neither.
-
^^^very true, even more of a deal then However I'd do a day or 3 in your Sentra first.
-
e36s (like mine) are getting pretty damn cheap these days, but you'll want to make sure you get one well taken care of because they can easily become maintenance nightmares. I could go on, but I honestly don't think this conversation should go much further about which car to build or buy. Instead, you should save up and budget a few hundred bucks to go to a driver's event where you will have an instructor run by a reputable organization. I recommend PCA for a first-timer, but NASA, SCCA, BMWCCA, and a few others work just as well.
-
I would like to respectfully disagree with this point. A house should never be considered an asset/investment unless you're not living in it and it makes you money. That type of thinking has led many people into the current turmoil in the market. That stated, you are entirely correct that IF it's within your budget then purchasing a home is an entirely better way to spend your rent money. Stating you currently have maxed out credit cards on a budget of less than you say you can afford for a mortgage would throw red flags for me. I mean no offense to the OP, but would hate to see him put himself in a bad situation.
-
in that case....... I would take your sentra to a HPDE before doing any sort of "building." This will make sure that you know what you're getting into and if you'll even like it (or for that matter if you CAN do it).
