  1. follow Andy's advice. Craig has the most experience of anyone on the board. if you're looking for a street/track car an e36 M3 would be hard to beat.
  2. ZING! Glad to see it going Jake. As for the problem with dying when coming to a stop as mentioned in the other thread I believe bumping your decel settings on the PFC will take care of that. Of course I'm sure some of the people on here that know way more than me will be able to help with that
  3. glad to see you had fun Ben. Why were you running the pro course? Is there open passing on the straights in HPDE 2? (never done a NASA event)

    $10K Car Fun?

best deal you'll find on a running FD without major issues. what do you want to do with this magical "fun" car for 10K? Drag race, street/strip, auto-x, track?
  5. sounds good. I'm off tomorrow afternoon, so if you need help with anything let me know.
  6. the business is F'd and rightfully so. If the mom financed the car for the kid then the bank has the first position on the car, no mechanic's lean will over ride that. I also believe that they had it coming....seriously. First, they named the business JapWorks, which while often used in conversation these days "Jap" is definitely a derogatory term to many. Second, they were obviously blind enough to apparently not have any formal paperwork on the car such as signed work orders. Plus, in that situation they should have smelled something fishy and taken money up front. Many many many many shops are run by people who are great at what they do, but ultimately fail because they're not business people. This one looks to fail because they were neither.
  7. steve, edit the link, it's the 21st not the 12th And in case you haven't been reading the monetary system will take a crap before then and we'll all be thrust back into the wild west.
  8. don't be a puss....Sept 5th for the win
  9. sounds good. You getting anxious? Who's going to do the tune on it this time around? (you can PM me that answer if you don't want to offend any of the sponsors on this board)
  10. haha. Yeah, I think the pillowballs alone are about $600 in parts last time I checked....ouchie. Well, since you're keeping your car you should bring it out to the Nelson Funday on Sept 5th that Andy and I are trying to go to.
  11. glad to see the progress! I see you're sticking with the twins. You gonna spill the beans on the motor? Who did the rebuild? What seals did you use? Any porting, and if so who did it?
  12. sucks to hear. What suspension did you go with?
  13. eeeeeekkkkk....let's not get into too much FD bashing there fellas! having and tracking a FD regularly does require more effort than other cars certainly. My best friend has a C5Z that he tracks, and I am very often jealous how he can show up, drive all day without worry, and still go just as fast without any worry. So unless you're a big fan of Rx7s like me, or want to drive something a little different than everybody else go with the C5Z and save yourself a lot of trouble, and go just as fast for less time/effort/money.

    Nelson Ledges

seeing as the future plans of Nelson are still up in the air, how about we plan on pushing this to September 5th? Since I've replaced the transmission in the FD and it seems to be holding together , I'll likely try to hit up the 5th Funday. As always it'd be nice to see others out there.
  16. you're correct. It's even something that I've complained about before. In my situation I had the green light coming from central college to sunbury North. There was a van in front of me going slow the entire way up central college (30 mph) and I was just anxious to get around. I paid the price I suppose. Cop was sitting at P&B auto parts waiting for someone like myself to do the same thing. Still sucks though as I've had a clean record for 8 years....oh well, gotta ruin that sometime I suppose.
  17. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Aug/080818a.htm follow up from your own source. It's certainly an interesting position. DMG thinks the manufacturers have too much pull and they can do it without them. The OEMs know that they bring all the big money to the series and pretty much make or break a series. I'd be very interested to see what "classes" DMG comes up with to run if they're not going to run a superbike class. The currently lineup of machines has been tailored to racing worldwide. Remember that all of the OEMs killed what was left of the 750 class because they were allowed to go 1000s, which in turn killed the efforts by a couple to go with big twins. In the end, the racing rules have governed where the OEMs spent their R&D money and in turn where consumers purchased the latest and greatest bikes. OEMs also have to focus worldwide, which is why the AMA and SBK rules mimic each other. My guess would be if it continues with this standoff thru the 09 season, the OEMs will focus on SBK and other international series and let DMG rot themselves out until someone else is ready to play ball. More likely though DMG will cave under the pressure.
  18. sorry Jake, I don't have what you need, but I'll give you a free bump. I would like to see the update on the car though!
  19. no offense meant, but take that Z06 and run the other way with it to never be seen again! Your FD still has stock suspension on it right? When's the last time you've replaced the pillow balls? A C5Z at those miles will be maintenance-ready for quite a while, it's easy to drive, fast, and looks good. Plus the biggest thing you've mentioned is that if you want out of it it's 100 times easier to sell.
  20. patrols all around Ohio have been stepping up ticketing on this lately. I was pulled over in the M3 on 23 S coming back from Upper Sandusky last week by highway patrol for it. I'm actually surprised he could even see it with my headlights on at night, must have been looking hard for it. Then I was pulled over last week by Westerville in the FD for no front plate and making an illegal turn (turned into the 2nd lane available onto sunbury instead of the curb lane). I suppose it was nice of him to not give me a ticket for both, but he gave me the ticket for illegal turn which is the moving violation.....burns. I suppose if push came to shove I could put a front plate on the M3 if I really needed to, and it'd probably make more sense because it's my daily driver, but there's no way in hell I'm putting one on the front of the FD.
  21. Ben, hold on to the UpperDeck and other "higher end" cards. When I was a kid I didn't think much about it and I have a bunch of Topps and Donruss cards and they're worth just about dick now. I should have sold the McGuire rookie card I have years ago...doh.

    New Old Guy!

i've never seen a promising start end up so horribly wrong. in for pics if he hasn't given up yet.
  23. When I was given my written warning by Worthington I laughed afterward when I looked at it. In the section where it normally said "If found in violation of this offense again you may be issued a citation"....the officer had taken the time to scribble out "may be" and write "WILL" really big on it. Seemed like he took it a bit too seriously, but I suppose in the end I was happy that I was given a warning.
  24. Thanks Pete, that's what I was looking for. I've never received a "fix it" ticket, but have been given written warnings before and was curious as to if pulled over by another dept if they'd be able to see it on my record.
  25. ^^ So is it always on file with Worthington? Or does it drop out of their system at some point as well? It's not like I go through there much and when I do, i just make sure I'm driving something with a front plate. Just curious is all. -edit....also what happens if I get a written warning from say the State Highway Patrol?
