  1. yup yup, I'm a little bit perfectionist and cheap. don't want to pay the full price for the new ones. did my research on how functional it is. read many reviews. compared with other boots and even tried few of them on. Decision: sidi vertigo corsa! eventhough I wish they make vertigo corsa air design on the LE kind.
  2. FUGGGHHHH...SO YOU'RE THE 1 that bought the sz 41/8-8.5 NO WONDER THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK ON THAT SIZE and LE kind!?!?!?! Dammitt...the LE edition has been what I've been eyeing from the same e-bay helmetdepot store from the past two months. and u live in OH...What a small world!! good choice and don't even blink or I'll take them away from you.
  3. Lizard, Good points, the funny thing is that the ad wrongfully states that it has magnesium wheels. An LE comes only with forged aluminum wheels! However, you may see things about an LE a little bit too far sided because you may have forgotten the point of $12K that you can spend on an LE for fairly low mileage. With an '08 cost: you're stating the cost of $20K. To get an LE for 12K, I still have 8K to go, will I smoke the well-prepped '08 R1 that you presented? YES (of course, there'll be factors of riders skill and other stuff) To prove my point, the fact is there was an ad on 4/11/2008: FS: 2006 Yamaha R1 LE - 3350 Miles - $11900 obo BIKE HAS BEEN SOLD This bike is #86 of 500 produced for the American market. MSRP of the bike was $18,000. Limited Edition models come equiped with forged aluminum Marchesini wheels, Ohlins suspension front & rear, a slipper clutch, an adjustable shock linkage, Brembo master cylinder & titanium exhaust. Extras added include an Ohlins steering damper, Graves frame sliders and clutch basket protector, Galfer steel brake lines, Puig double bubble windscreen, PP rearsets, and passenger seat cover. Price $11,900 obo. Bike has 3550 miles, has never been down and is in like new condition. Comes with R1 LE special tool box and all manuals. High resolution pictures can be sent upon request. Bike is located in the Seattle area. David (253) 370-0062
  4. nice. if you had a great deal, then it's all worth it. Nope, the price on the ad is not worth it, especially now it's 2008. if one picks up an '06 R1 with the same mileage and put all of the same decals, painting, wheels, suspension, and will be installed by oneself, the $$ save is a lot but... Am I comparing between orange vs. apple here? Yes. My argument: if I wanted to compare those objectively (orange vs. orange), then one had to buy a regular '06 R1 with the same manufacturing cost plus all of those goodies (wheels, suspension, etc.) and plus, one had to pay the manufacturing cost of labor and ON TOP OF THAT added the profit percentage that's applied onto R1 LE. Now, do we really really save $$? Sometimes, we learn those skills to install of these aftermarket parts and think that we're saving $$ if we install it ourselves. Regular Joe who doesn't know how to install those will have to pay the price to have them installed by professionals. Again, that's comparing apple vs. orange, not orange vs. orange. However, with the LE price, I'll pick 1098 anyday anytime.
  5. preferably black, black/silver, or black/white, sz 41 or 8.5. pm me if you have a pair for sale. thx
  6. :D still thinking...tempting....how much is it for superbike-setup engine, not superstock? I heard that will cost about $10K?
  7. I'll be there late as usual and hope the road would be dry by then.
  8. wow...that's awesome, learned new stuff everytime I read your respond! on all the points. Definitely, I like the 6 piston brakes on '07-'08 two things that I did research on: 1. LE comes w/ a slipper clutch 2. Based on your calculations: $11,700 + 1,200 + 1,500 + 2,000 (Marchesini wheels for a set is actually $2,500) so it comes out about: 16,400-16,900. that's not including labor. Labor is about $500-2000 (I guess depending on the place and that can be more than $2000) so it's about $17 to $19K. Not sure if it's worth the $$, which anyone can spend on an LE for about $14K (of course with about 3-5K miles) with a little bit crappy front forks n rear suspension (as what you wrote). I don't know. I'm still holding for something better. You'll definitely my first contact when I'm going to hit a track.
  9. lol. lizard may have good points! For some reasons, many R1 owners like the '07 than the '08, weird huh? Lizard, it seems you have a first hand experience. have you ridden one and actually tried to adjust the suspension craps? that must be a headache.
