Still have at least one ride from the shop to my house now that the bike is finally fixed! Then a few more trips out after that probably. Then kickstand, pull battery for the tender and cover her up.

A motorcyclist was killed on I-70 at the height of rush hour today when his bike skidded into the path of a tractor-trailer.
The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. at Rt. 256 near Pickerington, the Lancaster post of the State Highway Patrol reported. The eastbound motorcyclist rear-ended a Ford pickup truck, the patrol said. The impact pushed the Ford into a larger pickup, and the motorcyclist skidded into the far right lane of I-70 east, into the path of the semi.
Officials hadn't released the name of the motorcyclist late tonight because family hadn't been notified. No one else was injured.

True, but I'd say for the average most agencies don't have this new type of radar. Probably the Highway Patrol at most, but the cost of upgrading from old units to new ones wound be a significant.
Any if you get a laser ticket, make sure the guy was outside the car or shooting through an open window. If they were shooting it through a window, you can get it tossed.

FYI,
Radar can be stationary or mobile(moving in opposite directions).
Laser has to be stationary, only.
And chances are if you get a laser warning, your already toast most likely.

Few things come to mind here from reading and thinking. Pulling up beside him was almost a road rage incident and I can see how things escalated from there. Now, as to the dude hitting Bret and you having witnessed it...and nothing was done, I have a problem with. I am assuming that Westerville? took the police report and said we won’t file. Did they say to go to the prosecutor’s office if you want to file charges? With Bret listed as the victim and a statement from you and anyone else there I don’t see what the problem is. Victim vs. suspect is one thing, but when you have a witness to something…./boggle. Thats more then he said she said. Did the 3rd biker that stopped give you any info or just bail? I mean more witness to something like that, his nose....I'm in awe really.

I believe it is OSP policy to have the dash cam+audio working on any traffic stop. If they actually turn the audio off to rip your arse and you complain, the stop gets reviewed and if the trooper turned it off on purpose...he can and probably will be written up. As for local cops, I'd say its 50/50 on if its working or if they even have them due to budget/lazyness.
As for bringing you into their car...I believe the idea is to bring you into their car so they can get all the info and know what your doing. Versus leaving you in the car/on bike and having to answer it all while standing outside praying some jackarse doesn't cream everyone while rubbernecking like we have seen in so many videos. I've known a few troopers and their attitude is due to the training they are put through. They train them para military and to be hard and to take charge and unfortunately that also can lead to unpleasantness. Most of the ones I know were like that for a bit and then after a few years chilled out and were normal. But typically, yeah....if OSP pulls you over or if your in an accident and at fault, prepare to eat a ticket. ;(

I don't know of any "training" places that someone could even go do for that. I mean, theres motorcycle schools for police but they use Harleys/BMW's. I'd be interesting in seeing whats up with dat!

Off on Mondays, come September Mon/Tues.

Good to hear about that about him.
From my understanding, Grant is the #1 trauma hospital in Ohio so everyone tries to go there. But they have to split it on incoming to like 2 to Grant, 1 to OSU, 1 to Riverside I believe so they don't get flooded with people.

Thanks to all for the awsome ride and coming out/meeting you all. Best wishes to those less fortunate.
Got my 3hrs sleep and to the grind!

3x in the last month, I've had a set of 2 baby and 1 Mamma Racoon walk out in front of me on the way to work at night (3 seperate places on same road). First time was in a corner going about 35 and I split them by an act of god. Second time I evaded left and the third time I split them almost creaming the baby at about 65. I've since slowed down on this road till I get to 33! But for full terror, best was a car merging into my lane with a garbage truck on the left. Slamed on the brakes and went back. Was some girl yacking on her cell phone /sigh!

Went to a friends and parked the ole 600rr in the street. Kickstand acted like a hotknife in butter on the old asphalt. In 10 minutes time...blamo on the left side. Luckily it was only minor damage and scratches. Now I carry some $.40 galvanized steel 4 inch electrical plate covers that work perfectly.

Might try to make some of this as its not far away though I'll have to head out early with work that night.

Welcome to the site, I'm another one from Lancaster. There are a lot of places you can go to from here. As I'm sure you'll find you.
-
Looks like a big storm is coming and will be here around 9:30-10ish, I'll probably just hit the bed with that thing on the way.
-
I'd be game for this pending we aren't out too late since I get off work at 7am. I'll keep an eye on the weather!

Welcome to the boards! Just take it slow and learn as you go and invest in some decent gear (Helmet, Jacket and Gloves). I have some great places down near Lancaster, but thats 35-min south of campus. I typically ride in the afternoon/evening since I work nights at OSU. I'll keep an eye for your bike when school starts up.

Getting into more technical, check all the fuses. I did some wire work on my old one and blew one and had many of the same problems. Replaced the fuse and fixed.

Did you put your bike up for the winter yet?

I talked to the guy that works on my bike, and he said that starting it can actually be bad for your bike in the winter. As most know, when you start it cold you see the moisture coming out of the bike in the exhaust. Just letting it run and turning it off can let the moisture build up in the cylinders and let wear/rust get in early on them. If you do this, make sure you actually get your bike going and the moisture out the best as possible. (up and down the street maybe if theres not snow?)
I typically just add stabil, unplug and remove the battery and cover it up.
