  1. I use progressive and go monthly which enables me to change the policy at any time. I drop the collision off in the winter and keep my comp on so I have no break in insurance. State farm is by far the cheapest for bike insurances overall for year round coverage.

  2. Welcome to the board, GL find a bike that you find to your liking. I live down here also and just found a empty church parking lot for about 2 hours and slowly worked my way up. But a MSF is a better option looking back. When you get more comfortable you can head out to the BMV "Liberty Center" and practice the motorcycle course test after hours. I did this multiple times and only had the police show up once as it was like 1am (oopps!) It can be difficult with a sportbike, but I passed it my first go. Let us know how things go!

  3. Nate pretty much hit things on the head. Columbus has a "city code" on those colored/neon lights so you want to stay away from those.

    State Codes:

    4513.04 Headlights

Every motorcycle shall be equipped with at least one and not more than two headlights.

4513.261 Vehicles to be equipped with electrical or mechanical directional signals.

    (2) No person shall operate any motorcycle or motor-driven cycle manufactured or assembled on or after January 1, 1968, unless the vehicle is equipped with electrical or mechanical directional signals.

    (B) “Directional signals” means an electrical or mechanical signal device capable of clearly indicating an intention to turn either to the right or to the left and which shall be visible from both the front and rear.

© All mechanical signal devices shall be self-illuminating devices when in use at the times mentioned in section 4513.03 of the Revised Code.

    City Codes:

2137.16 Number of lights permitted; limitations on red and flashing lights.

©(1) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as a means for indicating a right or a left turn, or in the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, or overtaking or passing.

    (e) No person shall drive or move any vehicle upon any street or highway with any light or device thereon displaying a blue light, or alternate red and blue flashing light mounted on such vehicle.

  4. Its really up to you mang, but ya definately have to slow down between logan and CW..its brutal.(I'm from lancaster, i know it well).. I know of some people that go and ask for fine/no points speed. That basically means you pay the fine, but get no points on your license.

And cops don't always have to appear at all the court dates. If your meaning court as the date on ya ticket, thats your arraignment(you are asked to plead guilty/not guilty/no contest). Cops are only needed for a trial or pretrial hearing or supression hearing on evidence. You might be able to get your speed knocked down since it was a pace thing. They say cop cars are "calibrated" but you can always ask how far was he behind me to pace, was he closing at that speed? or was he even "trained" to pace people. Most things don't hold up in court unless there is evidence or training to back up the charge. Just some idea's I'm trying to toss out there....but regardless....slowing down will always prevent these situations from happening :(

  5. I went there last month, was a great time with a friend. When I went they only had 1 instructor so we had to go up seperately....which made a breif lull in jumping. That and when I took the dive, it was 22 Degrees outside......my face hurt! Other then that its easy and a great time. Show up, watch a video...spend 10 min signing your life away..basic instruction on what you do to exit the plane and GG!

  6. Was around midnight ish, I would guess (I work on campus). Anyways, you'll get a lot of suggestions from guys here. More road then you'll have time to travel. I'm from Lancaster, so my usual is South of Columbus. I typically head North near Millersport/204ish or near Canal 674. The last good ride I did was St Rt 33 to St Rt 180 West through Laurelville. Came out to 159 North back into Lancaster , but you can also head West and come up St Rt 674 North into Canal Winchester and back into Columbus. Really nice trip, but you do get the occasional gravel in the road...but this can be said of many roads. Just remember to wear your gear! (you have some right ;) )

  7. Solving this for you all since I am bored at work.

4511.25 Lanes of travel upon roadways of sufficient width.

    (A) Upon all roadways of sufficient width, a vehicle or trackless trolley shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows:

    http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4511.25

Read if you want lose a minute or two of your life and figure it all out.

Though I agree 100% with what OK is doing with this and would love to see it in Ohio. To truly get something like this going, you would need to get some political backing/backbone and prosecutors willing to take it. Imagine trying to enforce this only to get it tossed back in the face at the court house.

  8. I took my test at the BMV with my bike (04 600rr) and passed it. While its not exactly easy, it is possible. I hit the BMV test area in lancaster late at night or when they were closed to practice. It took some tries to get the line down for the cones and turn around/stop. Thats about the hardest part due to the turning stlye of the sportbike. Get the launch/stop part down also, I got a point or 2 for going to far. Just practive it imo, it really does help (just make sure they are closed as you can't practice during business hours). GL with the test.

  9. An update that I got:

Just an update because I know the media reports very little of actual facts that really matter....Cory suffered a fractured skull in the back

of his head, a bruise to the front of his brain, a fractured pelvis, and a large gash in his leg. So far they have completed surgery on the hip

    and leg.

The brain injury is a wait and see type of thing. They have drilled a hole in his skull to relieve pressure from swelling. He has not regained

consciousness as of yet but did seem to start hearing people talk to him yesterday and move some of his extremities.

  10. For the link:

As for the details of what I can say, this accident didn't actually happen at the Lane/Kenny intersection. It happened on a small side road back by the Cattle Barns NW of the Lane/Kenny Intersection that is OSU property. From seeing the pictures of the accident and its rider, it wasn't a terrible accident but when you ride too fast these things happen.

  11. Its my day off so I can go anytime during the morning/day/evening. I'll leave this up to fireman on if he wants to go earlier or later since your taken from 10-11. With us cutting out some of the trip and starting at 204/256 its only about 45-50 miles tops and will only take an hour probably. I can always add on roads and others places if we want to go longer.

Edit, Made a 2ndary route thats up to about 60 miles and goes up into Lithopolis/Canal. I'd say our options are either a 8-8:30am start or a 11:30am. I'd be more apt for the 11:30 outting then earlier, but I can do both. Let me know.

  12. Want to tentatively set this for a 10am meeting then? We could head out by 10:30-11 and probably be back in pickerington by 12:30ish. From there we could split out and head home unless lunch sounds good. Hope to see more then 1 person show up.
