  1. You guys and gals have fun this year. I'm taking the year off and recouping some time with family and such. I've also put off home repairs for long enough and have a long list of things that I need to get done and paid-off.

The bikes for sale still, but we'll see about how long I have it and maybe making a trackday or two depending. I would like to consider a return in the end of the year maybe or in 2014.

  2. It's pretty simple. Use the crosswalks to cross a street and yield to right of way. If your not in a crosswalk, you have no expectation of saftey or right of way when crossing a roadway. If you cross a roadway in a crosswalk with a YIELD/No-Walk sign and you get hit, you are at fault still. Most people are smart enough that they wouldn't cross I-70 or I-71 since there isn't a crosswalk....the same goes for any other street.

Rules/Laws will change depending on where you are though, so one should be knowledgable on the rules for the area. In Columbus for example, Bicycles are considered the same as a motor vehicle and are required to follow the same rules. With the addition that they are required to ride in the roadway, but on the right most side of the road.

I've delt with several at-fault pedestrians this year and have no problem giving them tickets. It makes things simpler in insurance and civil claims if any should arise. More interesting when there's a double party fault!

  3. I use Hoppes as a base/universal cleaner. If it's a gummed up gun, I have been impressed by Brownell's wad cleaner & eliminator products. I bought a used hastings barrel for my 870 that hoppes wouldn't get some residue out of....and brownell's got the stuff right out.

  4. Pretty easy season here. The family got 7 deer in 2 mornings and were done by 8:30am Monday (5) and 8:00am Tuesday (2) more. I have tags for 2 more if I want the extra meat, but might call it now with 2 in Bow Season and 1 in gun.

    Total for yr: 11

  5. I think your on the correct path/theory. OSP, CPD and the big cities will bring people on and put them through respective academy's. A few others agencies will bring you on as a "police cadet" and enroll you into one they choose also. But having your Cert gives you a lot more options into jobs, and having a degree also is becoming the trend (Associates Degree Min)

On average unfortunately, your correct with the hiring of smaller agencies with affirmative action. I've had numerous friends miss jobs for which they are more then qualified for because agencies need a certain number of minorities per capita of the populas. Outside of that, the average wait from application date to official start date is around 8 months - 1 year depending. If your schedule allows it, finding a "basic" opota course and getting through it will help and once passed just apply, apply apply. Keep your options open and keep trying until you get an offer.

As a side note, have all your information and records in order. Every application better have all the same information about your, your past jobs and etc. Background checks pull everything, including your financial history typically and credit. I've seen peopled dismissed simply due to being financially irresponsible. It's not an easy job to get currently for the most part, except for the biggest of cities due to the class sizes and retirements. (CPD is taking academy after academy to replace retirees, from DROP, state retirement changes to PERS-LE, and insurance etc)

  6. I don't mind 2 wave starts. Having ran them with other series, I would like to see the on-track official with a sign of "Wave 2". They stand in front of the 2nd wave and verify that everyone knows, which takes very little time.

Having been involved in a "oversized" start this year... I can tell you, it's a lot better to be lapped, then to be involved in a massive crash. I'm still in severe pain in my spine/back from May. Your choice though...

Edit: Crag, unfortunately they haven't always done that. But I think it should be required for all future events.

  7. We all get lapped at some point in our racing endeavours, trust me. Biggest thing when wanting to go racing is to have fun, be open finding fun in it despite getting slaughtered by better racers. Which is why we like motoseries. There are many levels of racers to compete with, fast to slower. So you have competition to battle against. (Brandon, Matt, Mike & I) had great races despite not being the fastest.

  8. Finally selling my 07 CBR600RR racebike to move on to something else that fits me a little better. I bought this bike used in December of 2009 as a used trackbike and have set it up to be a turn-key race bike. As with most bikes, this bike has been down, but was sent off to MPH Ohio and 35 Motorsports for repairs. The bike runs great and has served me well over the years and finally earned me several podium spots this year. It has normal cosmetic wear and has been fully safety wired for racing.
