So, I get an infraction for letting you all know about bikes...
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Dumpster
Nice jab. Subtle, but nice. Way to be able to let things go. Everyone else but you seems to understand what the deal was. But, then again... You probably weren't given the full story because you weren't involved. Quit with the third grade bullshit. -

To you guys that think it is a personal attack by me saying he owns a 10 year old bike and wouldn't understand "features", you need to quit living your sheltered life on the internet and making it become so "real world" that you cannot understand what I was saying. Second, if it isn't classy to say that, what is it to bash a guy that made a post and tried to defend himself from some of the responses here? Guess the ol' hypocrite BS that some of you live by is in full effect. Magley dug at me so, I dig at him. He seems to have had it roll right off his back, but you other guys seem to take it personal for him. He's a big boy and honestly, from his response, I think he's off my radar. You other dudes need a life. -
I think you tread on thin ice when the GP can chime in and possibly make comments that are not correct regarding the law. The internet as we all know and is proven many times even on this site - people take what is stated as gospel as they do not know any better... I think if one of the law firms or whomever are sponsors had a section like this where THEY respond and give advice, it is a different story. Otherwise, it is simply an additional section where anyone can ask about their speeding ticket and get as many clueless responses as if they had asked what the best oil is...

Actually, the crash bars are an accessory on any of the other Adventure models... It's the only thing "orange" other than the updated hand guards. The seat - if you ever rode such a bike in it's intended element - is a feature that is well received due to the feel and wear of that type of cover & seat shape. Paint isn't really a feature - you got me on that. But, really, the paint is a feature on this bike as it stands out from the others and is a call out to the 30th anniversary. But, a guy that has a 10 plus year old bike probably wouldn't understand. -
Clip types are for easy fixing. NOBODY should even consider a clip style for track use. Safety wire and RTV isn't enough. It's a strength issue and prone to failure. If street riding, put it this way - would you run your spare tire on the drive end of your car until the other three wore down to buy four at one time? Same thing here. Buy a rivet link, get it installed PROPERLY and be done with it. Clips will break, safety wire will snag, RTV will wear off, etc. Rivet link will last until you need a new chain.

My reviews are based off riding the bikes. The review really wasn't there - you are right about that. Dual sport rides? Seriously? I had a 530 Six Days I used on one last year. Had the squeeze horn and plate bolted on... Not sure where that is going unless you were talking about the one bike as an example...? Can I do one or two bikes maybe? Willing to allow for that? Maybe I will just stick to the 990 Adventure and the RC8R as they are the ones I have the most real hard core experience with? That would be cool. Again, I now understand the dealership and prices. If they were removed, would it be different? Thanks for addressing that. -

You were making it sound a little different in the post when you first brought this up. Yes, when I was with Fox/SHIFT I provided a slew of stuff for everyone to take advantage of at MY COST of stuff. Demo isn't the right word as they were either samples at a reduced cost that I passed on to you guys to essentially simply cover my expenses. Now, there are no samples. I have passed on my discount to a select few folks that needed some parts for their bikes, but you were making it sound like I was doing something sketchy. Not at all. My helmets have all been used or if new, from someone that owed me money. Some stuff is new from sponsors that I have not used, but again... Passing along the deals. I'm done arguing with you on the advertising. I'm tired of arguing over a deleted thread vs. hidden thread that nobody can see other than mods. Sorry to ruffle feathers. Can it be done now or am I gonna need to keep defending the BS that is spewing from some people? -

Cannot read your link for some reason. Yes, I stated that. But, to state that and for you to ASSUME that I called Oakley and directed them to this guy is a completely different story. I gave him a heads up. You might want to think things through and look at the sponsors on here and put two and two together... Just an idea before you lay blame where it doesn't belong... -

Shitty- If Someone had been nice enough to put it that way, I wouldn't be sitting here feeling like I need to defend everything I have ever said. I got Ben saying some side mouthed BS about that product I sell. I have people saying I caused a guy to get in trouble with Oakley, I have people STILL talking about shit that was stupid and over with by all parties involved. I just feel like I am getting hammered and it is all BS. I am going to say it here and now. DELETE the thread here or put it in the "happy place" and let's forget about it. I am willing to see where it was wrong and have asked a couple of times to no answer (Unless posted after I read Shitty's post) as to the way it WOULD have been acceptable. Is there ANY room for something like this where I can provide some insight? I'm not willing to pay to do editorials or product reviews. I will talk to a few of my dealers, but doubt that is going to happen. I'll give it a shot. Shitty, you need to be a mod. I am sorry to waste everyone's time. -

Dude, get your shit straight. I didn't do anything. In fact, I suggested him to a dealer that could help him out after. If you don't have facts, why post such BS that is only going to stir shit up? Seriously. -

Ben, I asked where it was when YOU mentioned it was not deleted. Saying it was not deleted after me telling everyone it was implied it was still up somewhere. Me asking where it was and then you going third grade PMS on me and using bold letters to make a condescending reply? Dick move. you THEN suggesting something (you've since taken the liberty to avoid this topic) about the stuff I sell on here being somehow part of my job and to a point that you make it sound shady... Dick move. I didn't know that Ohio Motorcycle dropped sponsorship. Since they have, it is a moot point. The comparison to non profit is still the same. Non profit still requires people to spend money. They are being asked via advertising that they should do this or do that. You are doing it to generate money flow in. Whether or not the company is profit or non-profit makes no difference. It is still advertising. You take the liberty of making the decision that non-profit is allowed vs profit. That's your decision, but if they were to advertise in Cycle World, it would have cost money to do so and in fact, many companies that are non-profit use paid advertising as a selling tool to get people to come and donate money for their cause. It's not a dick move to talk about advertising in general and not the exceptions. I am simply promoting a product that I believe in, sure. BUT, the difference here is that I am just sharing and not advertising. I provided info that had dealer names and prices. That not included, would it have passed? If it were simply text detailing the bikes with no pointing to a dealership or providing a price, would that have worked? Again, acting civil here and asking. In an open and public forum, I am asking not only because I feel I was wronged to a degree, but also so everyone knows why it was deleted. Call it a lesson... -

Again, no need to be condescending, but can others see it? If not, being moved is different than not being visible which is like being deleted... Or, if being held to make a decision at a later date is fine too... Just asking. -

That's fine. If that is the case, the mods need to remove any signature that has companies not supporting the site and they need to treat every sponsor the same. Ohio motorcycle USED to be a sponsor I guess. I thought they still were. The only OEM dealer is Iron Pony. The funny thing as that example is a good one to use is when you get people providing links to great deals that essentially go against the site sponsors. Why don't the mods say that posting a link to Rider's Discount for a helmet is something of a conflict with Iron Pony advertising? Why do they allow people on here to have sigs that have links to companies that are not sponsors? That's a violation, correct? If they are going to treat everyone the same, they need to do just that. I am not advertising anything that is a conflict to any sponsor. It is a detailed report on new bikes just like the Tenere link I provided. But, because I work for KTM, it is advertising. ???? I understand where the thought is, but again... I was simply providing info. Honest. -

What are you freaking talking about? What, because I buy some stuff or stuff I have gathered along the years in the industry? Or, maybe it is stuff that people gave to me due to the fact they owe me money? You bought some "new product" from me, remember? That was fine then and now I don't want to know what you are suggesting, but tell us more. What are you trying to say? As for the non biased opinion, where was there any bias? In that article, it was detailed info. There was some suggestion that people think KTMs are more expensive and cost more to operate and I used examples of how they are not that far off as people think... That's education, Ben. Not opinion... -

Again, big fonts so you can read also - WHERE WAS IT MOVED? I DID A SEARCH AND FIND NOTHING... No need to be a dick, Ben. I've been pretty fine in this thread. But, you want to go that route and be condescending, that's cool. But, that is you - not me... -
So, I get an infraction for letting you all know about bikes...
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Dumpster
Don't use the soldier card, dude. That's total bullshit if you are going that route. The idea is that it shouldn't matter. The idea is that if you aren't going to allow promoting unless they are a sponsor, that's not fair. Equal playing field here... What I am saying is that if it is his playground and he gets to make the rules as he goes, that's fine. I think it is unfair. Thus, the examples I provided and the signatures I listed. If they are going to go through and clean house, by all means. All I am saying is that the rules need to be followed by everyone at every moment and no exceptions. If exceptions are made, my pitch is that I am someone that can provide some cool insight on what is going on in the industry. Everyone is against it all until something cool comes around that they can take advantage of because they know I have a connection... For example, I am willing to provide a VIP slot to Ben for our Race Orange Events at Mid-Ohio. He never took me up on that. That's more than a year's sponsorship. I have also invited some to come ride for free at certain venues we are at and that too is money out of my budget that I get no return from. The idea you all miss is that I want to share my experiences. I want to provide some details from the inside that you can't usually get until way later in the process. But, again... If it is fair, I am OK with it. I am bummed as I thought it was cool to share, but now at this stage, you are making it sound I am anti-military. Crazy. -

Again, is it not an asset at times to have industry people on here giving detailed info on bikes that might interest riders? This site is SUPPOSED to be a motorcycle site even though it is packed with politics and gun talk. I just thought to share my thoughts. You guys know I do that with other brands. Just because I work for a company doesn't mean I am not able to give an unbiased opinion. Is the RC8R the best sportbike I have ever ridden? No. But, how many people on this board can write a detailed report on almost any machine that is out there? I've ridden a ton of bikes and can provide detailed thoughts on every one. Again, wanted to share and give some insight that isn't going to come from somewhere else. There were seemingly a lot of people on this board that are into Adventure type bikes and of course, sportbikes. Am I able to be more detailed towards KTM than others? Sure! But, shouldn't that be something that is wanted on a motorcycle site? There are a few other sites that are very welcoming to that idea. Guess not here. People don't matter - it is more about money. That's all good I guess... -

Cleveland Akron is Ohio Motorcycle. I guess they don't sponsor anymore? I thought they did... I forgot I had CCM in there. Mid-Ohio DOES sell motorcycles. They provide a platform that is a selling tool for us and for our area dealers. It may not be a transaction like at a shop, but it does help sell bikes. I accept the dealer info, but again... People have asked in the past and I have provided that info. Also, you had no issue whatsoever when I posted about other demos going on... That was KTM promotion just like Mid-Ohio is KTM promotion when I post... I apologize on the dealership thing, but you could have easily edited it or asked me to do so... You deleted the whole thing... -

I put it in product reviews as I have actually ridden all of them. Again, the details are my own words and the prices are posted no differently than this post: http://ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=73048&highlight=tenere The poster just provided a link with the same details really. I can write and do a good job in describing things. If I had posted a pic of each model and then a link to details, would that have worked? -

The thing is that we have been allowed to post our dirt demo days and even Ben has posted he wanted to get out to one of our demos I posted before. It just seems that if it is not allowed, why now vs then? Also, I have had the website pulled from my signature, but other riders here have posted links to their sponsors like Vortex, Pitbull, etc. That's allowed, but not me. I am sponsored by KTM USA also... Anyways, it is what it is... Just a shame as I thought you all would have enjoyed it as I went to great lengths to provide detailed info... Just a side note, unless we did this through Ohio Motorcycle, I am not able to sponsor this site. I want people to go to the dealers and support them. Ohio Motorcycle and Mid-Ohio already do, but apparently, this is not allowed... What would happen if I sent the text to Mid-Ohio and had them post? They have the demo days and the Race Orange Events... I would also allow Ohio Motorcycle to cut and paste. Is that permitted? -

Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Dumpster
No problem! Just a side note, though... I did a report on the RC8R before I was with KTM. I just decided to include all the models since I have actually ridden them all. I also thought since two of the three dealers were a site sponsor as well as Mid-Ohio, it was fine. But, no harm, no foul. I will just keep all my info to myself or give it to a few other sites that are OK with this stuff. Just because I work for KTM shouldn't be an issue as it isn't a secrete and I would think the motorcycling members on here may like reading some info on the bikes. I am an insider and thought it was cool to share. Something like the benefit thing you do, Ben where the organization isn't a sponsor, but you promote it... I also don't see it being any different than a person posting pictures of a new model coming and a cut and paste article describing the bike in detail. Just because they don't work for the brand shouldn't make it any different. But, your site, your rules. Bummer, but I get it. I'm out. You can delete this thread too if you'd like. -
So, my thread about the new KTM street bikes was pulled due to supposedly advertising. Everyone knows I work for KTM and I am trying to help at least two sponsors of the site - Mid-Ohio and Ohio Motorcycle. I added Wheelsports because they are in Central Ohio where we have a ton of OR members... So, I do a detail description of each new bike in MY OWN WORDS and give details as to price, etc and where to buy. So, I guess if any of you post any new info on any new bikes that are out or coming out, it is an infraction. Post something new about an upcoming Yamaha? Guess it is advertising... Anyways, not sure why that was done or why I had the thread deleted.

bumkp. Had some PMs, but not sure what happened - I must have deleted them... $50 plus shipping on NEW Helds!?!?!?!?!
