Moto-Brian replied to BornSinner's topic in Dumpster
Dude, when you told me I was bummed, but excited. The cool part is when I come to visit parents in the Tampa area, I have a buddy to go and hang with. Good luck and be safe. Oh yeah... You suck. -
Since a few folks have been asking for fronts, this is what I can sell right now. Check out the combos and let me know. Again, I am not shipping these tires. Gotcha. Knew it wasn't this year!

Streetbike pack? What class was that? You mean the modern class?

Are you going to take this to the road course or a track like CRP? You know the supermotos in the vids you provided are MX based platforms. That 690 around CRP is going to be like milking a badger... I'd try it, but she's a bit porkly to do tight stuff... Now, if you want to get REAL fancy, I can hook you up with Mitch Hansen (HMC). Do a google and you will find out that Mitch is responsible for some of the trickest SUMO bikes on the planet.

Motorex? That's what I would use if it were me, but be careful of using the race oil that is 0W...

Green Savoree Buys Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, The Mid-Ohio School
Moto-Brian replied to Casper's topic in Daily Ride
Not sure why it is perceived to be unfriendly towards motorcycles? The school is actually filled with some great folks that are VERY much into motorcycles... The facilities are really good and are friendly also. Are you guys talking about the sealer or the facility and people? Owners have changed, but sounds from talking to a few folks that this is a great thing and the plans are for bigger and better things. -
NICE! Ya, that must be Pete's bike. What exactly happened to the motor? I heard Hord built it initially... Was it built or stock? That will play a role in getting it fixed. Need any info or search for parts, give me a shout. What dealer were you 45 minutes from?

OK got my SuperHawk... Got some questions
Moto-Brian replied to Beegreenstrings's topic in Daily Ride
First, no baffle tubes is stupid and harmful. Second, the tool bag in the YouTube vid is a moron for blasting the throttle for the camera. What you really need to do is get the baffle tubes - easily ordered via a dealership that can get them from Yosh direct or a supplier like PU or TR... Second, BUY QUALITY PACKING MATERIAL! Too many junk exhausts like Two Bros, etc are run to the point the packing gets blown out and they are running with not enough packing material. This material is also key in the bike running well. Plus, you don't sound like a straight pipe squid on an HD... Straight un baffled exhausts are annoying and do absolutely nothing for your bike. -
We used to coach at the Team Chicago School YEARS ago. Was a great program for the $. It is VERY basic and VERY entry level, but as mentioned, it is accepted by almost every race org and can be used to get your race license cheaper and easier than other places. That being said, if not interested in racing, it is a great school for the money. I wouldn't say it is better than any Novice program at most track days I have worked with or attended, but it is pretty cool. The weather is a crap shoot. We've been there so many years and each time it has been different. One time, we went up and it was thundering and lightning. We stayed overnight in the truck and while asleep overnight, the rain turned to ice. We woke to over a 1/2" of ice on everything and below freezing temps the rest of the day. They had to cancel... Of course, it is usually nice, but cool and with the fact that Grattan is fully repaved now, I would chance it for sure! You cannot argue with the cost.

Ever ridden hard and have a front tire go flat instantly due to a hole in the tire? Real world experience states that unless cruising around at school zone speeds, if the front patch goes and your tire deflates at speed, you'll really wish you spent the money. You can patch anything. The idea is that the carcass heats up and the tire is SUPPOSED to flex under load. On a sportbike, that is from edge to edge and given that idea, the patch or plug isn't a good idea. Especially the plug. Now, I will say that if you can get someone to vulcanize patch the tire from the inside, it may be fine. But again, unless you've had real world experience as mentioned and you've lost air quickly in a front tire of a sportbike at speed, you'd pay the $150 for a tire.

Can't really see that happening with the fail safe lines that are put into place. If you fried an ECU and a fuse didn't blow before that, he had issues prior. But, assuming everything is stock and never been tampered with nor modified, it really shouldn't be more than a fuse or relay...

Novice group is iffy. The truth is that it states "over the ankle boots" for every track day org I have seen. These are borderline in my opinion. Personally, I wouldn't want to wear those at the track. Even with longer suit legs, once in tucked and seated position, the legs will pull up and expose your ankles and above... -
Really should be a fuse. You looked at every single one? There are some separate from the fuse box, also... If not a fuse, it COULD have burnt up a solenoid, but the fuses are there as a precaution for that really...

Call ya soon. Heading to Paul's later today. I'll give ya a shout whenI get on the road.

Only three lids left! The HJCs are great for those spare helmets for riders that want to ride as passenegers or for a first lid and not wanting to spend a lot. Buy both and get them both for $50!!

Phenomenal choice and a great school. Nick is awesome as he is great at presenting things in a down earth level to the students. Also check out Swantz school as they are one of the best schools as well. The schools you've been looking at are very good and very extensive. You'll get your money's worth. -
That is correct. I figured that if you needed vents, shield base pieces, etc. Technically speaking, you could wear it as it has damage to the very back, but I would leave that completely up to you. The one in the box is perfect and unused.
-
Not really a good deal. The one guy asking WTB on an 07 track bike had a post from Brian that said he'd sell his street 07 CBR for $5500... WAY better bike.
-
XL. I will have to check the BOD.

Really anything. The old days where you needed to match sets is long gone. I used to run the Power One Comp fronts with these... I'd suggest a Michelin race compound. I just am not selling any fronts right now...
