  1. Cam Chain tensioner. KNown to be crap on CBRs. If it is motor related, doubt you'd hear it in that spot... How many miles?
  2. Check your owner's manuals. I will check mine and see if I can find a number...
  3. She just stated she would be scared to death of a 1000. A good deal isn't the reason you should buy one. If you do not have the ability to ride such a bike, why would you buy one just because it was cheaper than a 600 that would make more sense? I get confused on the idea that liter bikes make any sense to people that are essentially beginner riders... Let's say that she finds a 1000 that she feels is the best deal. Sure, your mind can tell you that being scared will help not get in over your head, but the fact that her ability level is at the infant stages, just a SMALL error can end up being a HUGE disaster. It goes back to my analogy of a glass full of water. The water is your reserve. The more reserve you have when in time of need, the more the chance you have to get out of it. If the water is low and the issue pops up that is needing more than you have, you get hurt really quick. Settling on a bike that is heads and shoulders beyond what you can control is stupid and how people get hurt. Not saying she sucks as a rider, but a majority of liter bike owners I know are below the ability of the bike they own. That means that if something happens, they have less of their reserve available. Now, some have a good amount of reserve and still cannot ride to the ability of the bike, but that reserve allows them a better chance at controlling what happens... Newer riders have a low reserve obviously and in this case going from a 500 in-line twin to a 1000 is a step like going from Coach Pitch baseball to MLB. You're going to have some issues hitting the ball... To each their own, but when I hear questions like this or asking opinions on things, I feel compelled to tell people that liter bikes don't make sense. 600s are tough enough. Adding another 50 hp on top of a 600 isn't the right idea...
  4. What's wrong with a 600? Don't you think going to a 750 or 1000 is a bit of a steep jump from an in-line twin 500?
  5. I think the items like hoses, etc (and you even aknowledged) were legit concerns and legit thoughts to be replaced... The other items that were pure fiction - I'd get on the horn with Toyota and call customer service and throw a HUGE bitch. Reason being is that dealerships typically get points and customer service is a big deal. Especially to Toyota right now... I'd call, tell your story and I am sure there will be a call from corporate...
  6. The idea is that there are many a top dealer in Vegas and they will pay him for the chips. Meaning, a heavy dealer will have customers and they can cash in the $25k chips w/o much of an issue... Majority were the $25k chips and maybe he will only get $5k per $25k chip, but considering the amount of time he did this and the amount he stole, he will get some pretty good change back. That being said, Vegas always catches their crooks. This guy will probably slip up at some point and get nailed... Cool effort, though.
  7. No, work pays for it, but I have a budget allowance and I like using my budget towards cooler things than a first class flight and rewards...
  8. This I can agree with. Maybe the private sector would be better and maybe we'd get better technology to be used. However, would it mean less if the private sector did the same thing? I'm just asking as I think you are the only guy to have a legit comment yet...
  9. Jeff- I think you need to go back and rethink some of the comments you made. If you get nervous around certain people due to the way they look and what race they are, you have a lot more to be concerned about than body scans... I am not sure where I stand on scanning and strip searches of children, but I have yet to see any of that... But, I get on a plane, I get to my seat and I could give to shits who is where or what the guy next to me looks like. If you are worried, Avis has a lot of deals...
  10. Again, take a job that doesn't have to travel overseas... There are MANY people out there that can do your job as well as you and not be concerned over body scanners here in the US...
  11. Like I said, take it all out and just let 'em get wanded and let's see what happens... Your conspiracy theories are cool and all, but the scanners are better than a metal detector... But, if you can show me otherwise, I am willing to accept I am wrong, but it sounds like you are typical and are just bitching that the man is pressing you down...
  12. I do with one, but that's it. In fact, I rarely travel it anymore... I use the cheapest flights to maintain my budget... No matter what you do, you deal with idiots...
  13. Not making a big deal can be looked at both ways... I'm just saying these guys are making a big deal over something that is really for our own safety.
  14. Dude, let me know when you are flying so I can stay home. Yeah, allowing and trusting the average everday civilian to carry a gun on a plane and hoping they don't go Chuck Norris on a full flight... Riiiiiight.
  15. Again, you could have accepted a lesser job and not traveled as often. If it were that big of a deal. You can still drive from Friday after work and get to CA by Monday morning. We've done it racing... I understand the status quo idea, but this is bitching. You work in a high level atmosphere so, I am sure you have always heard this - come to the table with a solution to an issue. Otherwise, you are just complaining. You need solutions - not excuses. I think that there may be better technology or something that people may not bitch about, but I am guessing that any change will result in the same thing... People feel they are violated for having to be given the wand after setting the detector off... Seriously?? Others bitch about having to take off their shoes and belts... It never ends, man... I stand in a line and cannot stand the casual traveler complaining. I stand there saying in my head that I wish we didn't have to deal with casual travelers so I can get through the line faster than Mrs. Bitch and Complain as she is trying to untie her shoes only until she is told to remove them and then forgetting to remove her laptop...
  16. Perfect. Let's revert back to when Benny was around and run under the laws and guides that were back then. I know I won't be flying anymore... Good luck with that.
  17. The shoe bomber didn't pass through one of these... Second, that excuse that it doesn't stop anything is shit. Sure, there are ways around everything. Do you think that we need to stick solely to X-Raying bags and stuff? There are so many ways around that now, it is why these are in use. The idea is that sure, you can get around anything, but the thing here is that it will slow people down and possibly have a better success rate in catching people trying to do bad things. If people want to blow up a plane, they probably are going to get it done or get close. But, if there are no hurdles along the way, what is there to possible trip them up and catch them? Under your mentality, we'd still be boarding planes from the runway (still do on some flights) right from the unloading zone like we did in the early days. Why advance any technology if all it will do is nothing because it won't catch anything. In the end, you guys complaining - how much do you fly for work? Not talking about for vacation... If you do fly as often or more as what I do (20 plus round trip flights), it isn't an issue. It doesn't slow anything down enough to be a bother. When I am in line, the people bitching are those running late or the ones that don't fly often at all and feel like they are being bothered to be checked...
  18. I travel by plane for work. You don't have to fly. If there is a meeting in a week in CA, you can start driving 36 hours before the meeting. It isn't anything other than a privilege. It's like driving. You can argue that needing a car for work is there, but it isn't true. If you need to get somewhere, you can do other modes and succeed... We as a society are lazy and take the quickest way possible. That's fine. It's what I choose to do. As for the way they are doing things - why is there another option? If it exists, what is it and how much does it cost and what is the success rate vs. current? I think the more we can know about who gets on a plane and what they can possibly carry on that can cause harm, the better. Again, if you think it goes too far, Greyhound has specials going on...
  19. You guys are seriously going overboard on this... I fly probably 20 times a year and honestly, flying is a privilege. If you don't want to be scanned or you feel you are being violated, there is an option... Drive or take a bus or plane. I want people to be scanned, I want people that want to hurt others to be found. Otherwise, you guys should ask us to revert back to the days where we take people for their word and let them on board... "Oh, Mr. got a gun in your pants - you seem like a nice guy and we don't want to violate your rights, so pass on through. Don't worry about anything..." Plus, if you travel enough, you learn to deal with it and it goes quickly. The idiots that travel a few times a year are the ones that cause the grief. They hold up the lines because they don't know what to take off, what to wear, etc...
  20. Winter in full flow here now. Tear those forks off and send them out. These are going to be gone soon!
  21. Would handle a shit pile better... Quicker turn in essentially... However, the issue MIGHT - MIGHT be that it will adjust the trail and cause the bike to handle slower if raised in the rear. An idea - we lower the rear ride height and raise the front in an effort to add trail. But, the tire is the same profile everyone at the track uses. I would say that if there needs to be a change, it is easy as pie. However, I suspect that you have stock components and will tend to think the change will be better... The stock rear shock is non adjustable correct? In terms of ride height...
  22. Better pics and with them as they are going to be sold: Fronts: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Typical scratches: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Rear rims; Uploaded with ImageShack.us Typical scratches on rears: Uploaded with ImageShack.us One rear rim has a scratch on one of the spokes: Uploaded with ImageShack.us These will fit the front of the 08/09 600/750 and not sure, but may fit the rear also. However, these are 6" wide rears and fine if you want to do a 190 on the back of a 750, etc... Your call and you are responsible to find out if it would work... Again, the price is shipped per set. Want both sets, we can make a deal. I would also do $500 for two fronts, or two rears... First buyer gets choice...
