True, true and exact to point. Asking people their "best times" isn't helpful in a learninf sense. I've seen guys run a "decent pace" at a track, but they are running with their hair on fire and VERY sloppy and out of control. While others can run the same pace at 60% of ability and actually teach you something. The point is simple. Ride in the group that is equal to your ability - not what your buddy is running, not what makes you look cool to your peers, etc. If you ride in a group of like ability riders, you will learn quicker. There's the old saying that you should ride with those you hope to be like. Meaning, if you associate with a faster group, you will learn to ride faster. I agree to this idea if you have a decent basis to grow from. If you do not, they will only leave you and you'll ride around getting your ass handed to you every lap. Leanring nothing... Or, if trying to keep up, you'll learn what dirt tastes like. Lap times mean shit when it comes to who you ride with. I can run a pace to podium at a track or I can ride a pace to be middle of the pack at the same track while helping others. I can also ride below average at a track to do the same thing. Lap times mean nothing. Ever.

Yup, was there. Trying to sort the RC8 before VMD. Been tough going so far... Essentially got off a plane at 10pm Friday before heading to the track!! I was beat...

Sweet 8 lb, 6 oz. baby Jesus! Sweet time. How bout Barber? 1:28.154 Ninja.

That's the spirit! I trump your time, though. 1:05.2. Sum Beotch!

Ouch... Yeah, need to get riding soon. Since I just got back after almost 2 weeks in Cali, I have some time. Work's just been limiting of most things...

Pro Motion used to do it. Look where they are now... It's a bigger issue now than before... If CCS has a track day, it is a race practice. Even if not the case, they are a race org and have the needed insurance. Plus, you realize that your insurance will not cover any racing related events...
-
That's right. DAMNIT!! I lost again. I know I can pull a :35 flat at Mid-Ohio if I try to remove my front rotors and remove any weight related items like frame and bolts...

Uh, you're an idiot... I'm basically saying these threads are stupid and pointless. Same as you... Maybe we are both idiots? I care because track days don't allow timing as done under race days. If they do, they won't for long once someone wads some shit up and goes to the ER and their insurance company finds out...

Are you telling me they offer to rent out a transponder to you to strap on your bike and will offer you times out there in a TRACK DAY setting? Or, are you confusing a transponder being put on the wall for people with lap timers? Clear that up first and we will go from there.

I can almost bet good money that a person as I described (re-read my comment) could obtain 14s easily enough... -

Here's where you get yourself backed into a corner. First it was about ME saying shit against FT and comparing to WERA and AMA... I have only done that on the LR forums. You're busted. You may not be her, but you're one of those folks over there... Second, there's only TWO STT named people. Me and Monte. That's it. STT Nick maybe... AND, I will tell you this 100% - Monte is catering to FT extremely hard in offering them race tires for FAR less than they can buy them even at the track. Again, you get zero cred trying to make it sound like we bash FT... Now, you turn it around and start this BS that it is STT people stirring shit up... Get over it, toolio. -
Dude, I love you more and more with every post. Not in a gay way...
-
He's referring to a transponder we use for racing. It crosses buried wires in the track at the start/finish... Again, not a single track day provides timing for the customers... Practice day for a race weekend? Yes.
-
It's bragging rights. Big dick swinging contest of sorts. Hell, I have seen guys on sites SAY they ran a certain time and provided a video that is several seconds slower. That's funny shit right there...
-
None are. Not a one track day runs a transponder system... Now, if you are referring to a lap timer, I will start again. Mid-Ohio - 1:23. Winnah.

Whoa. There's gotta be a work around for that... BMW is being very cautious which is cool, but it is weird also...

I'll entertain this for a short time... Ducati Hottie ain't the same as Danika. Now, if you want to compare Mellisa (Josh's wife) to the level of Danika, sure. There are MANY women racers that would hand many a man their collective asses. Elena comes to mind... However, DH is not at that level whatsoever. To put her into a lumped group of accomplished women is an insult to VERY talented females everywhere within this sport and other forms of motorsports racing... Don't try and spin this to work in your favor. Has nothing to do with her being a chick. It has more to do with her being a blow hard, wind bag... -
Why? It's got plenty of miles to just rip the shit out of it. Break in is BS. You can run it for 250 miles or go to 500 and drop the oil and let 'er eat... The only issue and question I have so far on the bike is why they didn't go full floater front discs. I know BMW has out sourced as many of the things for the bike as they could to reduce the cost, but the rotors are ala CBR F2 and seem odd to me...
-
Not faster than the one I owned... Stacks don't do shit. Even with a full on SS build, it is minimal. Typically, if you look at even AMA caliber bikes of that year, they were running stockers... Some changed to different heights depending on the map and dyno results, but still rubber stockers.

Are you serious? Have you not seen the other thread? This is simply going to end up like it - complete fish stories. I'll start... Laguna. 1:12...

Moto-Brian replied to ducatihottie999's topic in Track is Crack
What wasn't taken into account (which is typical FanBoy stuff) is that the riders on the forum that with no track day or race experience that could go faster right away or with very little coaching. There are some that have natural talent and can learn quickly and adapt fast enough to actually ride faster than 14s at Nelson... So, sure, maybe 5% may have race licenses, but the other 95% that you look at and take into account, there are probably enough riders that could go faster with less seat time and riding time. Meaning, one day... The bottom line is that when a mouth is opened and shit is spoken, you leave yourself open. She has a history. People like Todd and others know that history and a majority of you (and I almost bet everything I own that Kosmo doesn't, either) do not. It's typical stuff from her and it gets pretty old to say the least... -

First, this is about her. FT isn't WERA. Show me it is and I'll concede. I don't bash FT at all. In fact, I suggest it more than anything... Second, this is about her, her suggestions that she's a knowledged "team owner" and that she knows what is needed to win in an endurance series, etc. That essentially opens it up to discussion and comparison. Hate to say it, but that's what she started and you are supporting. Which actually, I think you are actually her since you are referencing WERA as I have compared via Local Riders only. Nice try, though... I appreciate the fact you bring up our team. We did well. Never have i stated I know what it takes to run a team, how to run the series or anything. Do i offer advice? Advice based on experience and actual history via competing? Yup. You? List the credentials and let's compare. Take that as arrogant and ego driven, but I'll list shit if I need to. Otherwise, I don't say shit about anything. I wasn't fast. I'm actually faster now than I was and that's not fast, either. I plan on doing the FT whether endurance or sprint. Will I do well? Don't know. Hate the condition of the track, but I wanna run this RC8 and that's the closest track other than Mid-Ohio... Back off the throttle and either go back to LR or as your Pres of your fan club stated... STFU... -

I know you're on her fan club as President apparently, but she isn't faster than 99% of the people on here. Good try, though. Her ego and fish stories might be bigger than 99% of folks on here... Before you go blowing it up, maybe check around... -
Shame on him or what I said?
