  1. And not to mention what she has to say about OR on the Geritol laced LR site and even FT's site... Sounds to me with her "8 years" of endurance racing experience that she's not so savvy and wishes she was... After all, with the comment "I dont race a half built machine." and yet she is running RaceTech Gold Valves and Ohlins springs, she isn't running top caliber stuff by any means. But again, would be a great place for a newer rider to experience endurance. I just don't want someone thinking this is something it may not be and needs to ask serious questions...
  2. Your PM box is full. Here's the info: Check out Alexa at Spyder Leather Works. Tell her the guys at STT sent you. She does BAD ASS work. The top source for most racers and she is great with design and coming up with stuff to make you look good. Webiste: http://www.spyderleatherworks.com/
  3. Quick fill as in a male and female recepticle? Or, are you using a modded dump can that fits a stock opening? If using a stock tank, I assume the later which isn't as fast as a Superbike style dump can... 3 riders will work and as many FT racers do, but in most cases, 3 is too many for a 3 hour... The idea is that if costs are split three ways equally, that's not fair in terms of seat time. Fastest rider is going to get more for their money. If you split the time equally and pull riders in early, that's not fair as a team in that the time wasted in the pits will kill your results. Of course, if everyone is doing that, then sure... But if a team like what we had comes along (We did a few events with FT and won every time) and does it based on what I described, you are going to pit at least 2 more times than neccessary... Again, not bashing here. I am just pointing out some things for riders that may be interested. Endurance racing can be simple and for fun or if you want to win, it is complex and expensive to do right. I understand you have 8 years doing this, but if you did WERA National stuff, you'd realize that consistancy wins. You won't win in the pits, but you can certainly get beat in the pits... FT is a great series to try out endurance racing and I might even form a team with a buddy to do a couple there. We will see, but the idea is to stay out as long as you can, run consistant FAST laps and pit only when needed. Changing riders whenever you pit is fine, but forming a team with riders of like ability is encouraged. Pretty much endurance 101. The idea of my posts is to put questions in the minds of riders that are interested. You also might want to explain your solution in the event of a crash. All three pitch in or does the rider that crashed pay?
  4. Oh, and check out the FZ1 or FZ6. Best choices in my mind. I am looking at something like the Kawasaki Concours or the FJ1300. I've also considered the FZ1 pretty hard, too.
  5. Not a sport tourer, but here's a 2007 ZX6R with some great mods: $5500 OBO http://www.ohio-riders.net/showthread.php?t=42299 Now, as far as the bikes you are looking at... We raced the Kawasaki ZX6R from 1998 to 2001. It is the same bike as the 2007 ZZR 600 you are referring to. It is heavy, poor handling and has lackluster power. In stock form. Massaged into a Superbike platform and in the day, it was pretty damn good. That was 10 plus years ago... If you are going to dump $5-$6k into a bike, a 2007 ZZR 600 isn't worth that amount. There are a TON of better options out there in the Sport Touring category... Both bikes you are looking at aren't really sport tourers as more of lower grade sportbikes. I'd look at the VFR800, etc. before the ZZR or especially the 08 GSXF650.
  6. PMs and emails responded to. Anyone has a question, just shout. I need these gone to get some tires for the season...
  7. I took it as he was saying it wasn't an exclusive or something along those lines. Apparently I was wrong and apologize. These are great deals and too often, douschebagisms are introduced and the thread goes offline... Sorry guys. Carry on.
  8. Chris is handling racer support much liek Donnie was. If you are not a racer, doubt you will have a lot of luck. Best bet is to get with your LBS and get them to get ahold of the Parts Unlimited Rep. If it is an older style/model, you are probably out of luck no matter what. You will probably have to settle for a black one or similar...
  9. 1 bike or two? Quick fill or OEM? How many tires are you allocated or are you buying every set that is needed? What suspension? Things like that need to be stated as some of these guys are pretty good racers and jumping on a team w/o really understanding what they are getting into isn't advised. What we did (albeit it was WERA National) was to get about $1k from each rider at the start. For 3 hour events, you only need two riders so, the 3 way split seems a little much. What is going to happen is that if OEM tank is used (Suspect it is), you will have one rider getting two stints to the other two getting only one. You shouldn't pit until needing fuel or a mechanical. That means that if under green for the 3 hours, you will have the start under a full fuel load and will pit at the :45-:50 mark, change to the second rider. Second rider will run until the 1:30-1:35 mark, change to the third rider. Third rider will run until the 2:15-2:20 mark, change to the first rider again until the checkered... Two riders is more sensable and best bet for a better finish. The question on two bikes is due to practice time/seat time for riders to get equal time to set the bike up or get used to it... Just pointing some things out as a lot of the newer endurance teams pit for equal seat time and that's fair and all, but not the way to win races...
  10. There are members from both websites and Monte is essentially helping out both folks. I think instead of poking and trying to start things, one should be somewhat appreciative. Are the Junkies that are not members here going to be pissed we are doing an OR track day? The ones that are members here aren't going to be. Relax, man. Seriously.
  11. This is an OR only event. Get some members on it! This is something we have been discussing and felt that STT could provide a specific day for OR riders... BIG thanks to Monte for getting this started and organized.
  12. Dude, are you freakin' serious? Their quality is VERY good and the % of the total Kawsakis sold is so damn small... Seriously, quit with the credibility and quality fan boy shit...
  13. Funny the attention to these recalls. Nobody even remotely seems to remember any of the US recalls. Like my truck for example... Cruise control and brake recalls. Both can lead to fire that can burn the truck to the ground. Gee, that sounds WAY better than a stuck pedal... Everyone's got them under a microscope due to the years of failures the US makers have created. Toyota ain't going anywhere and considering the #2 guy was Chevy, do you honestly think this is going to knock Toyota down to #2? Riiiiight... The governement is now into the auto industry and they are going to watch everything and everyone. Chevy caused all this BS with the government now a car company...
  14. huh? Your local shop can get you what you need anytime. They just need to ask their PU guy or Romoha guy...
  15. SIZE MEDIUM! I have a Spec 1R Extreme for sale. Like new condition and is in great shape. Spec 1R Extreme Amleto. This was new this year. Retail is like $700 plus and the cheapest I found it was actually $712 or something crazy! Anyways, it is in perfect shape - no issues. You get either a dark smoke or light smoke (as seen in the pics and my personal favorite) $250 OBO... NOTE: ALL STICKERS CAN BE REMOVED! I am not going to unless you ask. Consider these Healea replicas! Pics of the helmet bags: BOTH will come with one. Iridium shield and cloth helmet bags: BOTH will have these.
  16. Ok, guys, I have another White Pinstriped Vertex jacket for sale from SHIFT. It is size 2XL and is brand new. Same bullet points as the last one: Fits somewhat smaller and more like an XL in my opinion. However, they are supposed to fit tighter than a relaxed cut street jacket, but it is best to try on if you are normally an XL or even a 2XL... Pic and details: -1.2-1.4mm premium grain leather for superior abrasion resistance and comfort. -Aggressive articulated design for superior performance in the race position. -Removable CE approved shoulder and elbow armor for impact protection. -KorMax stretch Aramid panels for flexibility and abrasion resistance. -Dual layer leather and additional padding in key areas for added protection. -Aero back hump for wind resistance and added protection. -TPR/Mesh shoulder intake vents plus perforated leather panels throughout for added airflow and circulation. -Leather accordion panels in key flex areas for unrestricted movement, while retaining abrasion resistance. -Removable/Washable thermal vest liner. -Custom ergonomic zipper pullers for ease of use. -Full-length and short waist connection zipper for attachment to compatible SHIFT pants. -Semi Auto lock zippers in the forearm provide strength and closure in the event of a crash. -Reflective black piping integrated in to numerous seams for greater night visibility. -Perforated neoprene panels within the collar for greater comfort and flexibility while attacking the track/street. -Integrated pocket for a back protector -Internal chest pockets for safer storage of your wallet, cell or personal items. 17. Check out our site as I did a "how to" thread. It covers the basics. Need any help? Give me a shout. I'm north of CBus... (I was Lizard 1 until we sponsored the site...)
  18. Atta boy. There's PLENTY of guys with trucks/cars/vans that can hold at least 3 passengers with gear. At worse, 2 guys and two bikes...
  19. As we have talked and I have also mentioned to Nick, we can trailer up as a group with my rig. As long as you guys are cool with chipping in and such. As for Barber, I am still on the fence and will need to see if Monte needs me somewhere that weekend. If not, I may just schedule it in and try to get there.
  20. Ok, break it down like I stated in the ride share thread... 3 guys split 3 ways. Call it 600 miles round trip. About 2 tanks of fuel. 36 gallons at $2.75 (We will use diesel as it is higher. Regular is going to probably be about $2.55-ish). That's $200 in fuel. Or, $67 each. Hotel on Friday vs. driving up to Mid-Oh or Nelson as you'd drive up early morning, right? That's $90. Or, about $30 each. Now, the cost of food, hotel on Saturday night, etc are all the same. Mid-Oh... It will be about 100 miles round trip. Call it $50 in fuel round trip. SOOOOO... By yourself at Mid-Ohio, you have the following: 1) $50 fuel 2) $195 in track day Total is $245. You and two buddies go to Gingerman: 1) $67 for fuel 2) $30 hotel share for Friday 3) $100 track day. Even if you take the fuel out of the equation for Mid-Ohio, it's pretty much the same cost, but you get a different track and different ways to do a track day. You can still do Mid-Ohio. Not saying to never go there and if Nelson is your cup of tea, it is only 115 miles closer one way. You'll have less in a track day there than Mid-Ohio ($150 vs $195), but the fuel will be an issue. Plus, Nelson ain't no cream puff. The improvements at Gingerman are gonna be great. Basically, it becomes a wash, but people look at it like it is traveling to Europe when in fact, the cost of the day and the amount of money it takes to drive there and back can be affordable if they think it through... It's only time from you to drive really. Time will net a different track that offers different challenges and that will help build your skill set. Being a one track wonder like some guys are (and they aren't really improving at that) is fine, but in the end, getting in multiple tracks will make you better overall and when you DO go back to Mid-O or Nelson, you'll be ahead of the curve.
  21. Dude, DTM needs to sell these. We used to sell "power bands" at our shop for the guys. It was simply a clear bag with a tag that was branded as "Power Band". It was a rubber band... Sold a shit load of them. DTM could sell them at the shop and would make great novelty items. I'm getting one for my speed racer Scion...
  22. You mean a carbon weave seat? Maybe a Kevlar weave seat? You cannot mean a carbon fiber hard style seat can you?
