  1. Grattan's gonna be a blast! Plus it is our year end party and the weather is looking GREAT!! Easily can sign up still and enjoy another blast before the snow flies...
  2. Yeah, that was a BS move for sure. They should ban that guy for such aggressive driving... On another note, the announcer Brian Till is a BAD ASS driver. I got a chance to sit as passenger in one of the Mid-Ohio school Acuras with him at the wheel. FOOOKING NUTS!!! In a VERY good way. If there's one thing I will miss is that guy.
  3. The line being showed is not what I would call correct of optimal in that case you were in. Especially if it was at the end of the day and the last two laps to boot. With what we do, we allow the students in Novice group to pass and are set free in the last session or two. It allows them to use the instruction we provided and allows us to ride with them and tow them around at a little higher pace to see where the best place to be is. My suggestion is to grab one of us at one of our events and get some one on one time. We can tailor our instruction to better suit what your needs are.
  4. Vids are common. It was actually linked to YouTube and honestly, at any given track day, people have helmet cams and the like all the time. It's a free world and if it bothers you to be "filmed" riding, simply stay home. It isn't a big deal, man... I would worry more about the line choices shown than anything or how you can get up to a better rate of speed efficiently and to become more effective in your overall riding ability. Videos can help with that and can be a great learning tool.
  5. Not to bash you, but just because you have experience, doesn't mean that experience is right or was done correctly. Years of experience could mean years of doing it wrong or half attempts. I've built a lot of model airplanes, but I wouldn't consider myself an aeronautical engineer... If you are serious about racing and actually winning and doing a series well AND not to mention coach and have people follow your lead, per say, you NEED, I mean N E E D to do things right and use the proper tools. It isn't "to each their own". You're on a track with me and shit is half assed put together? We've got issues at the start. Your ignorance/poor workmanship can easily cause someone to get seriously hurt or even killed. Sounds harsh, but this sport is measured in milliseconds and tolerances that are so small that even the slightest mistake or short cut can mean serious consequences... Again, you're a good guy, Brandon, but you need to look a little more at the big picture. Especially with the responsibility you have now. As for the street guys out there? Do what you want, but understand that you are placing your life in the hands of things that are designed and measured to be done a certain way. It could end up simple and you drop a motor mount bolt out and just drop HP as the motor is slightly tweeked in the frame. Or, it could move JUST enough to allow the counter shaft to bind and crack the lower crankcase and shoot oil out on your rear tire as you ride. We had a guy that had a GSXR that didn't get the rear set of motor mount bolts assembled correctly from the factory. Why would he check that, right? But it did just as I described and it almost sent him on the ground when it swapped the rear multiple times from the oil loss. He saved it, but had he been on the street and that happened? He could have been in the on coming lane easily trying to wrestle a 400 pound bike heading straight for an oncoming car... Terrible logic, but it only takes once. You can have times where it doesn't matter and maybe you'll never have issues. However, I don't like gambling...
  6. Keep using that logic and let us know how it goes for you. As stated before, hopefully, you guys aren't "helping" others out there working on their bikes. Torque on an integral part like a frame bolt is different than an oil pan drain bolt. However, I suggest a torque wrench for that, as well. Seen a few cracked due to over tightening... Drain bolt at 16.5 lbs and a motor mount at anywhere between 40-50+ lbs... I know, I know... You can FEEL how tight that needs to be right?
  7. Jesus... You guys who do the "goodntight" or 1/4 turn after tight are asking for serious problems and hopefully you're not helping wrench on other people's bikes. First, typically the sliders mount and replace engine mounting bolts. Mounting bolts that go into the motor - you know, that's made of aluminum? Seriously, you need to be using a torque wrench. If you strip an engine mount, you have some serious issues. It's like watching the guys tighten triple clamps. The two tweeks and a grunt method is recipe for disaster...
  8. Not sure why these posts aren't showing up on the home page so, I posted it here... Come on up for a final shot at Grattan on the 17th/18th. The event is going to be a hoot as it usually is since it is the season ending bash! The upper Midwest staff is a blast to work with and are some of the best coaches in the STT program. All are acomplished riders that have thousands of laps around the challenging Grattan track. Grattan has tons of elevation, off camber corners, blind turns and a long straight! All enough to challenge the best riders, but user friendly enough for the first timer. Not sure, but will most likely run both directions but that is up to the Director running the event. It will be STT's typical three group day with a classroom for Novice group led by a staff with years of experience coaching and interacting with people concerning track day riding and performance riding. If you are a racer wanting to get some time in and need some help, STT has some of the top riders in the region that can assist you in line selection and proper techniques to make you more efficient in your riding and help get a better understanding of what to do at Grattan. If you sit somewhere in between, STT has a ratio of staff to customer that can allow for as much one on one work or as much help as can be provided. They are there for you! Come join us as it should be a great weekend! You can register at http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/schedule2009.html $110 for one day or $220 for two!!
  9. Jusst make sure someone helps you out that knows how to do it right. We had a guy have someone "help" him set sag and they had his sag so stiff that I cannot figure out how he didn't crash. 35-38mm Front and Rear...
  10. Yup. Dyno jetted bikes and make sure it gets the exhaust gases checked, etc. The guy on here with the Dyno is reputable from what I hear and should easily be able to help out. Here's the issue, though. You'll have some serious time getting mains and needles adjusted. FI allows for easy changes. So, he probably won't charge you time if you pull it off the Dyno and rejet and such off the platform. If you have a tech do it, remember you are paying per hour and it gets expensive quick. If you are ever at Pony, I can leave the needles and kit with Justin and you can pick it up. If you need mains, I can get them to someone I know that can loan them to you and you can keep what works. Send back what doesn't...
  11. I knew it was one way or the other. It's been 9 years since I have even used main jets! Regardless, I have a shit pile of mains and I have some needles I think. I just need to cross reference them to see if they are the ZX6R or CBR ones...
  12. Tell me there wasn't 120 cars out there... Holy SHIT! Saw a Merkur. LOVE those. Of course, didn't love it when the turbo seized and other related tidbits associated with that car. You guys ever need a driver, I'm willing to pitch in cash to do this...
  13. I think I might still have a jet kit from both Factory Tuning and Dynojet. The only real differences were how they each did their main jets. One was what was common and one company made their own. I think Factory uses their own and it was tough getting the right mains when needed. I raced F2s and F3s and I think I have enough one off needles, springs and mains to tickle ya pink. You can HAVE THEM FREE. I will look today to make sure I still have them as we had a BUNCH of shit from when we ran ZX6Rs and I MIGHT have thrown the other stuff away... I'll check. At least I know I have plenty of mains and if you wanted to take it to Bryan and get it dyno'd and dialed in, I can provide the mains needed... I'll check and post later...
  14. Also to note while the Skyline may have been modded, that rider on the Busa was a poor representation of a drag racer... He sucked at launch... I'd say if the car was running 301 KPH (About 185 mph...) and that Busa was that far behind, I am feeling the Busa guy sucks as a drag guy... Maybe Nick can chime in and tell us since he knows the type of rider well, but I think he looked sketchy... Those Skylines are wonderful and cool cars. They have some pretty neato options and are such unique cars to work on that most Nissan dealers declined to sell them. Special lifts, tools, etc were needed just for that car. Hell, the warranty is voided if you change out the wheels!
  15. They've been here for a year... Produced in the US? not going to happen. They are a built in Japan only car... Shipped here, of course...
  16. Dude, easy fix. Send it to Alex at Spyder leather works. EASY to get repaired for MUCH less than you think... http://www.spyderleatherworks.com/ Don't sell it for stupid cheap when it can easily be fixed...
  17. Yeah, with the bumpers for the windows and wiper holders, I think it is a military spec H1...
  18. So, you are basing it solely on the fact that your cruiser motor has held up this long? There are MANY a Ducati, Aprillia, etc V Twin owners with as much reliability and from companies that build sport based machines. The bike you listed while "unique" is simply a copy of what already exists. Bikes like the Britten, and even newer bikes like the upcoming RSV4 are bikes that are unique as well and will certainly always have a place in the halls of amazing and industry changing designs. They are what lead to these machines. Without the Ducatis, Hondas, Yamahas, etc., these bikes would have never came about. They simply took existing technology and slapped it in a somewhat custom frame and called it new. Bolt ons do not make it something new and different. S/C a V Twin? Not new. Turbo charged in-lines? Not new - Hell, we used to race with two guys that ran turbo charged CBR900s. They were called the Turbo Twins and they pretty much were retarded when it came to the bikes they raced in FUSA. That was over 14-15 years ago. Point is that to you, it is a really cool bike. To others, it isn't. To some it is cool, but not as great as others. It's simply an opinion. Posting on a public forum allows people to post their feelings and if they don't jive with your thoughts, why get pissed? They are simply opinions.
  19. It's a rebuilt title so, it is basically a street worthy and safe machine like a typically traditional titled bike. I would provide a parts list in case the offer is too low and they won't give you much, but the insurance guys will most likely take that into account. Meaning, if it is a salvage rebuild, it isn't worth as much as a non salvage rebuild. I doubt they would as most insurance guys are not really too bright. They look at numbers from provided books like KBB and NADA and base numbers on that. But, you could get a knowledgeable guy and he could technically deduct based on rebuilt. That's why having numbers ready would be good. But, understand that if it is a good bike, they might have a fairly high buy back as they like selling these things. They get good money from auctions and will not be upset to get it back... That's why these salvage bikes are going so damn high - these yards at auction are offering too much money for them. With the economy might get that back into line, but they aren't going to be bummed to get it back...
  20. They better redo the frame as even the team you helped out had major issues with it and threw enough money at it to sink a ship. The current frame design has racers hating the thing and even the bounty hunters throw it in the trailer in frustration. It's like riding a jack hammer... They need to rethink frame and handling before they go rethinking motor...
  21. I think that second one is actually the real deal. They sold a few of the H1s for export to other police and military firms... I could be wrong, but that's so close that I'd wager it to be real.
  22. What ya selling it for? Newer bike? I can attest at just how clean this thing is. Really nice GSXR for sure! G/L with selling it.
  23. You're so jealous of him having to sell his babies? That's pretty odd, man...
