James is an amazing rider. Truly heads and shoulders above Chad... That said, James is his own worse enemy. If he doesn't crash, he's winning... He will be the reason if he doesn't win the title... Chad is a classic douche bag. He's a dick. However, this year, I think RD has taken him aside and coached him on how to act on the podium and to get more involved with interviews and with the fans. Having RC to ride with helps, too. RC and James thought very poorly of Chad when asked in side bar. They never liked him and never felt he was a threat... This year is different and I even am cheering a bit for Reed. He's different this year. I think one more crash and James is done. Oh, he doesn't go by Bubba anymore...

Wonderfully stated. RIP.

Not to be a dick, but that crash was because a bike was running triple digits. The impact was so severe and the fact the bike's wheel was lodged in the car, it was a VERY high speed crash. If two bikes involved, probably not "racing" per say, but they were screwing around... It's a shame and I feel bad, but that girl probably DID look and when something as small as a bike is covering ground that fast, she probably had no idea until it was too late. Easy to blame car drivers as they are ignorant. But, she could have been responsible and saw nothing or saw lights well in the distance and thought she had enough room/time... Don't be too quick to judge...

Got a track bike GSX-R750, tons of pics of preperation process

If you're going to Indy, i suggest Reuben at 35 Motorsports. Matt's got tools and such, but Reuben has the most up to date info for suspension set up and he can tailor your suspension stacks and internals to fit what you are doing. Not just fix and repair and install... Matt's got tools...Reuben's got knowledge and even more tools like a shock dyno, etc... -
You are not allowed to modify the airbox. Switching the middle stacks is adjusting the airbox... That's like saying you can run the PAIR mod since you are only removing OEM parts... Or, as with the GSXRs, you can keep the OEM parts and simply connect them while still using OEM parts... NOT allowed... The only airbox mod allowed is replacing the OEM filter with an EXACT style replacement like K&N, BMC, etc... Same size and fit, etc... Also allowed to plug the airbox drains... Trust me... Look at the rulebook. New DMG rules might be different than before, but WERA rules are still the same. What you need to do is a stock passes for peak HP check, passes with the PAIR mod done, pull the PAIR mod and go back to stock and do the stacks and run passes. Then, with all the mods done...
-
Waste of money and the dyno will show nothing. You'd need to run it stock and then immediately again modded. Two different days and different numbers (+ or -) could be relating to the day and elements as opposed to the mods... Oh, and ANY racer doing Superstock or Supersport are NOT allowed these mods. It is a modification of the airbox and is illegal. Can't speak for the Yami on this, but the PAIR mod/crankcase breather tube mod will result in a few ponies on GSXRs. Illegal for SS racing, of course, but an easy gain for you street guys...
-
Ron... Be careful. $110 is really cheap. Are they doing both forks? Are they doing a complete cleaning and fresh oil? Are they using cross hatch on the tubes? Point is that if they simply pull them off and only do the one that is leaking and don't do the extra work needed, it's a BIG waste of money.
-
Wwrong. Racers ssign these waivers at the track and even after they get killed, family members can sue and will at LEAST get it in court enough to deplete one's financial holdings. They also can press a law suit if the party has ONE SSINGLE safety issue shown. That ONE ISSUE can result in a loss in court. This deal that has been beaten to death, is a guy doing it on his own. Even with a proper drawn up letter and agreement, it wouldn't hold a lot of weight....

Left side tire wear??? Are you serious?? Dude, you're talking about freeway riders on Gold wings and related. Guy would have to ride straight up and down for a SHIT load of miles to wear the left side from the crown in the road... Poor wear is a result of poor suspension set up and improper PSI amounts. You saying cupping is from normal riding conditions and road surfaces is amazingly wrong. You're not making a good case for yourself and your "experience"... You can cloak it in comments like "Amazed at how cranky people get", but the bottom line is that you're ill informed...

14 years at what level? 6 years as how good of a tech? What kind of drag bikes? NHRA? AHDRA? Thing is when I hear people brag about their experience, I tend to let them know that I respect their experience, but realize that you can have years of bad experience... Beads are not a great or better choice than weights. You can assk guys with "experience" as tire guys and they wwill tell you. They aren't "racers", either...

Porsche keeping up with R1 and Cbr1000RR

Ask them what their fastest lap time is there. Also if they use the chicane going into the kethole or not. Bet they don't so, the lap times will be different... -
Yes, these bikes need trail. You drop the front and it will handle like shit. Pretty much 2-5mm from cap top to top of triple clamp at the forks and since the rear is stock, you can/need to add at least 4-6 mm of height. You can use big washers from Lowes, actually. Two will help a lot. Put them under the shock mount on the bottom side of the frame... But at worst, for those bikes, raise the front and the stock rear is what you have to live with... Look at mine pictured...

Porsche keeping up with R1 and Cbr1000RR

He was pretty sloppy. Have two family friends who were ex pro car racers and one even had his Indy Car license... This guy's an amateur at best really. Real choppy and very much like a guy ham fisting a throttle on a bike. As far as the R1, it is again depending on the driver and rider... To do this fair, look at pros in each field and then decide. This is a debate that has been long since talked about on both sides... -

I don't know if I'd say he was keeping up, either. Doing well, but not really in that much control. He was VEEEERRRY sloppy and the bikes looked pretty safe. They weren't out of shape at any point. GT3s are pretty fucking serious cars. For $100k plus, he got pretty much handed the keys from two bikes in total under $25k... The point would be better served if it were a legit driver and a legit rider. Something like what Swantz did for Sport Rider or whatever it was. They also have a You Tube of Top Gear where Liam's boy on a Ducati vs. something similar to the GT3. I think a Lambo... Duc won... -
Dude, if you are even a beginner racer, you have to balance tires. You cannot tell me with any honesty that if you are running a race pace that you have just been lucky in not having to balance the tires you've raced on. Even a newb will get their bike up to a high speed on the straight at most tracks and an unbalanced tire is never any good and totally noticeable right off... A slight shimmy can make your day a hell of an experience. Slight shimmy is a bad thing - especially at the track. 150 plus with a shimmy makes shit come apart. Hope you know what you are doing, too. Doing it wrong can be as bad as not doing it at all.

Counter shaft sprocket bolts on the GSXRs are ALWAYS loosening up. You need to safety wire them for sure. Common issue - nothing to do with abuse... The stripped pre load adjustment is weird though... -
Since you'll be in the Novice group, the only real thing you need to worry about is: -One or two piece suit. 2 piece needs a full zipper... -Over the ankle boots -Gauntlet style gloves -Full face helmet -DUCT tape the wheel weights -Blue Painter tape on ANY lens - reflectors, headlights, tails, etc. -Best choice is to unplug the tails - NO BRAKE LIGHTS ALLOWED to bee seen... Plug is under the seat on most bikes... -Good tires in good shape. Street tires are 100% fine and will work all the way through even Advanced pace for some guys... That's it! No drilling, no removing anti-freeze, etc. Just ride. You can PM me for more info or answers if you have any. You can also check out Sportbike Track Time's website for more info.

GREAt exhaust system. Nets great results on the 04/05 750s. By the way, Adam, that is a high mount. That's all they ever made for race applications on that model... Love the exhaust, but the cannister is as long as a Mack Truck's exhaust stack. Gotta cut that thing, man!
-
Give him a call. He is doing a deal for racers, too I think. You'll want to give him a shout and drop my name so he knows I told you.

Just wait until you do some STT events. "New for 2009 - chalk writing in tech." For esteemed members only, of course...

Saw an ad on Sportbike Track Time's site for a Penske double clicker... Guy was asking $650 obo... Kinda high for a double, but seeing there aren't that many 675s on the track, it might be more than fair... It was off a 2008...
