  1. Actually, with the STVA bad, it will still start and idle and rev fine. It's when under load and at higher RPMs and speed that it will act up. The bike can run great and you can actually unplug the STVA with the valves open 100% and it will run almost perfect to the point you'd never know unless you see the FI light on... I'd say with my experience, it's fine and probably a good running machine. I also think if he had this pop up since the ad was placed, it is an easy fix and can be something that doesn't hinder the way it runs once fixed. Afterall, he was willing to sell it stupid cheap. I could have swooped in and offered him $3000 and got it fixed for free and sold it for a profit. THAT's being dishonest and misleading... The other thread? Not sure what's up there, but it is salvage and could have some issues when it was put back together. Loose wires, etc...
  2. Again, the PCIII will not damage the STVA, either. It can't. It's a gear driven assembly and the gears take a shit or the connections internally in the assmebly break from vibration. Hence why it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't...
  3. Ever need any notes, I got a book full of them. Raced that model from 2001-2003 and was VERY intimate with it. Watch a few things, but they were tanks and held up really well... Again, if you come to any STT events at Mid-Ohio or I can leave them with the boys at Pony, I have a book full of notes and gearing. I can tell ya gearing we ran at Barber back then, too...
  4. No problem, man. Let me know how it goes and if you get any slack, PM me or let me know and I will help as much as I can. I can even call if you'd like...
  5. You're not riding anywhere close to the edge in terms of that set of tires. There again are guys that can ride Deals and not push beyond the posted limits of the road and stay within lines and run a much higher pace than what you depict there. Again, we all start somewhere and you said it best "Again, I am a conservative rider, simply stating that they are more than enough to have some fun with, and go home safely." Simply put, your amount of fun may be a lower pace than others. Those are the ones that I suggest to look elsewhere...
  6. No offense, but you drag toes because your foot placement is wrong. Your body positioning is also not good and can lead to major issues in terms of handling and how the bike reacts. You are also loading the tires in a bad way that can lead to things you won't want to happen. You guys can run what you want and if you feel comfortable with an inferior tire, cool. But, when asking opinions, you're going to get the truth from a lot of sources that have a higher level of ability and experience with more tire brands...
  7. Bump from the dead. Buddy can't handle the non traditional white . SOOOOOO... Need to sell. $600 obo. I think I will be pretty firm at $600 since it is a new to the industry (released in Feb of this year) update in the SHIFT line up. This is a $1300 suit at retail... Even dealer cost is WAY more than this... Read the first post for pics and size.
  8. I actually ran the Ti-Force Ti system on my 2005 GSXR750. It was a full on race prepped machine that can be verified as far as how fast it was by a good number of members on here. I ran a PC III USB and a BMC filter - NOT oiled. K&N is not the best choice. But, it isn't the worse. OEM is fine, too really... BUT, you REALLY need to get a PC III for your bike.
  9. When I'm not riding Flounder's girl, I ride: 1) Sportbike (GSXR1000) 2) Naked sport (Super Duke 990) 3) Misc. MX bikes around 4) One SERIOUSLY bad ass Yamaha Jog (scooter) 5) Whatever bike I am handed to ride and try out/test...
  10. Your bike and the 09 are the same, no? It is for 08 and newer machines from what I know. It has to do with the newer systems on these machines. So, they are doing just 08 and up. Same with Bazaaz, really. You cannot find a Bazaaz for older FI bikes... If you are considering a new PC, that's the one I would suggest. Reason being is it will be easy to stack options should you want them. QS, traction control, etc...
  11. And here is the bottom line... Fans are saying the same thing and it is the fans that will make or break the DMG deal. I as an ex-racer feel they are doing some stupid shit and ignoring the riders and their concerns. However, when the fans think it is BS, there's an issue that will effect DMG where it hurts - the pocket book. I think the fans will still go to the races, but I think things need to get a whole lot better. I think attendance may suffer slightly, but the sponsors are going to be watching and if it gets worse before better, say so long to the AMA Pro Racing here in the States.
  12. For me, it is better on TV. I can see more and catch more. I get really bored at the track and seeing I am usually stuck in one spot, it sucks. Of course, this is after being a racer, too. It is hard to be there and not compete. It's really boring... The action and footage is so much better and even for newbs who are interested in racing, it is better on TV because they can see things clearer and even learn some things or see things they need to be doing. Of course, at a lot of races, people get together and have a fun time with friends and that's worth something too. I am just saying for me it is boring. I usually stay in the pits with others I know and help out and hang out on hot pit or something. That kills the time and keeps me busy. Glad you had fun. Night races are cool - especially the REAL night races where you need lights. It's even better when you do it!
  13. Yes, even with "just a slip-on", you can find power and tune it to optimal performance with a PC, Bazaaz, etc. A good dyno guy like Ninjanick knows will find it easily. You cannot nor will not feel small HP gains, but understand something - it isn't so much about HP gains, but smoothing it out and getting it to be as good as it can be through the rev range. It may only net a couple of HP, but that can make it drive better out of a corner for example to the point you can ride it faster... It's simply a tool to use to make these better. small gains on a machine that weighs around 400 pounds is something that is worth a few hundred bucks... Nick- Can you get the new PC V for your 14? From the sounds of it, that's going to be the ticket from here on out...
  14. True, but if he knows a hot chick and takes a pic, he's set... It was an idea for him as it is possible if he's got the money to do it...
  15. Also, I think you can have AGV do it. They are running a deal where you can send in your mug and get it put onto the helmet like what Rossi has done. Could just send a pic of a hot model or GF and have them do it...
  16. Wow... You have to be one of the small % of people that don't like Ben. He's a great kid and a serious competitor. However, it was great to see him go to WSBK. I think it was good for him and not so much for the AMA series. I think the racers are similar to anything such that have some amazing racers. It isn't that Hacking, Yates, Hayden, Zemke, Duhamel, etc were shit racers. It's that Spies and Mladin were just so much better. They were better riders period. Ben is showing that in doing so well in WSBK already and in pre-season testing. It's rider and that's what Matt will prove this year. The AMA cut the knees out from under Suzuki. Or so they thought... The team and the riders gel really well. You cannot replace things like the rider and a great crew. It doesn't matter if Mladin was on the Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki. He'd be a dominate threat to win. So would Spies here on any of those bikes. It's like RC in SX and MX. He was just better than an already amazing field of riders. Look at this way - If Mladin and Spies were gone, the rest of the field would be almost equal and make for great racing. Thing is, was the racing that great from 3rd on back? That's where you need to ask yourself that question. I see Pegram (and don't get me wrong, he's good...) and wonder why the hell is a guy like him placing 4th in AMA's supposed premier class? Why aren't the factories wanting to get their top riders on the top/toughest bikes to ride? I think Hodgson is the second best rider period in AMA right now. He's shown that he can do well on a bike brand that Miguel and Zemke have had YEARS to gel with. Why is it that he can come along and go faster right out of the box and make Honda look at least more competitive than ever before? The rider. As the year ends, I look to the top five to be 1) Mladin, 2) Hodgson 3) Hayden, 4) Yates, 5) Hayes or BBoz
  17. Oh.... I never raced Daytona. Too hard on equipment and such. Basically, always wanted to and many racers do just Daytona in the AMA series. I chose to do AMA events at VIR, Mid-Ohio and Road Atlanta instead of just one. If you did Daytona, you had to basically rebuild the bike for the normal sprint series you ran. I just couldn't ever justify doing it vs. my normal program... But, when I did do AMA, I did only 600 stuff. I didn't do 750 stuff until later and never did anything other than Suzuki Cup based stuff...
  18. Dude, take the wheel off and if in doubt, take it to HNW and ask them to scope it out really quick. Probably drop a $20 spot for peace of mind. Otherwise, floating rotors sound aweful when moving them around. Just don't take it as a reason to keep riding it. You're probably worrying for nothing, but if you cannot say for sure, take to someone who can... Most OEM rotors are not full floaters anyways... Something like a Braking rotor sounds like the rotor is about to fall off at any time... If it is bad, buy new ones.
  19. The sportbike class you saw on SPEED... The 600 Supersport or whatever they call it is Pro Am based... Suzuki will win the 1000 class and Yamaha will win the Daytona Sportbike class... Mladin and BBoz. Take it to the bank.
  20. I have gone from 92-1sh up until 2001. It just got boring and I even helped some buddies and it still sucked. Watching it on TV is best for camera angles and seeing everything. I knew the Buell would never make it - especially with Danny riding it. He's going to break a few more of those things before the year's out. Love him as a person and great to watch as a rider, but he's hard on shit... BBoz and Herrin show is what you're gonna see... Little Hacking added and a shot of DiSalvo, but it is Yamaha's championship to be taken away...
  21. Also undserstand that sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not. At first, it will be intermitent and when it finally goes, it will not work at all... You can remove the butterflies as there are a top set and a bottom set. The top set is for only for starting the bike and at low speed and at small throttle input. It will make the bike start hard and in corners where you are at neautral throttle and rolling into the power, it can make it slightly harsh in transition. I doubt you'd ever feel it on the street, but at the track it can suck a little... There are two screws on each butterfly (Again, it is the top ones - the bottom butterflies are pulled with the throttle cable...). You can remove the butterflies and leave the STVA on and it will work fine. Some guys remove the butterflies and the STVA and ride it. Now, your FI light will be on as it is now and will never go out and will throw the code every time. Doesn't hurt a thing. But, again... it's a warranty part and 2009 is not over yet. They have to cover it until end of 2009...
  22. It's not the PC... His code pointed 100% to the STVA. Easy way to check is simple. 1) pull the tank and the air box. 2) turn on the ignition and watch the top butterfly valves on the throttle body assembly. The STVA if working properly will have the valves cycle. I think it goes closed and then open again. It cycles to allow the system to know it is working essentially. If they do not cycle or you can hear the gear clicking and nothing is moving, the STVA is shot and needs relaced. You cannot order just the STVA, either. You need to buy the whole bank... Take it to HNW and tell them EXACTLY what I told you to say. You can leave the exhaust on and the PC. There's nothing that prevents that STVA from working as it should. I also have a contact of a guy that SUPPOSEDLY can fix the STVA for $50. BUT, the spending of money is not needed. Get it to the dealer. I'd get the tank and airbox off and take it down there. You can cycle it and show it is not working. I took my assembly off and handed it to the dealer and they warrantied it easily. Again, you'll get a whole new assembly.
  23. They cannot do that. Those items do not promote the STVA to go bad. It's Ohio law that states that there needs to be proof that bolt on items cause failures to OEM parts. They need to prove that. Take it somehwere else. Again, PM me and I can get you hooked up with a dealer that has done this. It is something that most dealers have no idea even exists and they will most likely need to call Suzuki. Again, have them ask about the STVA going bad and that it should be covered under Suzuki's Emission Warranty which is 5 years and unlimited miles. Saying that lets the dealer know you are educated and will let Suzuki know what's up as the info is spot on.
  24. It's the STVA and nothing more. No need to replace the items you listed...
  25. DMG will effectively ruin US road racing in this country. It's a great thing for GP and WSBK, but man, at least we didn't have to wait until 2 weeks to see a race. As far as Daytona? Typical for the event. The 1000 race was good, but not really shocking. Everyone says the race was closer, but honestly, the top three pulled away and left everyone. Pegram was over 15-20 seconds back. Same old, same old. Mladin will win it and prove his point - it is rider, not bike... The 200 was stupid. Pace car could have killed Aquino. The idea is stupid, too with the start and that many riders. DMG is trying to do too many things NASCAR oriented and it just doesn't work with bikes. Think car dealer who buys a motorcycle shop... What works for one isn't going to neccessarily work for the other... DMG also doesn't give two shits what the riders think in terms of saftey and the set-up. As proof at Rider's Meeting when there was discussion about the flag stand...
