Well, considering the features and adjustability, why would you think it should be less money? Do you even know what was on the $30k RC8? Hand laid carbon bodywork from Akropovic isn't as cheap as Hot Bodies... The exhaust is something that is also hand made. I guess you think a 1098S isn't worth the money either? For stock machines, these bikes have a lot going for them. Sure, I also somewhat agree as I sit back and look at things similarly in that a GSXR1000 at $11k can be made into a Hell burner for another $8k. But, realize that they are two different classes of bikes and their target audience is different, as well...

If you're fast enough, it does... More contact patch while leaned over under acceleration... Most guys don't need it, but they look great on the back of a bike and most street guys never worry about it other than looks and a little extra grip...
-
Yeah, and the Euro versions they had on hand were faster.... Ok, only because the motors were broke in more, but they were MUCH better in terms of the motor department than the ones with only 200 miles on them...

See my last post... I have a few sets left. I think 4 to be exact. Wear on one set is pretty good, the second set is pretty good, too. The third and fourth sets are worn on the edges where the outter tread is, but you'd be ok for street. Of course, it is under your own personal opinion as to whether or not it suits you and is fine by your own standards... Once I get back from the track, I can try and get a couple of shots of the rears and classify them into sets... The fronts are stellar. Guy was asking about whether or not they could go through another track day? I wouldn't suggest that. A full day may not be premium since the edges are worn so much. You could pull off one or two of the sets at 20-19 PSI and MAYBE get away with it. Me? They wouldn't last until the second session. Not bragging, but they are too far gone for me...

Still have a couple of sets. Have two fresh take offs from this past week at Mid-Ohio. Come get some!

Yeah, a little weird to get used to. Twins are so damn weird and so not normal to me. I like the 1098S better, but it was pretty good. Today, they stiffened them up a bit more and raised the rearsets per request. Had three journalists there. One was "OK", the other two were freaking SLOWWWWWW. The AMA guy was actually first time Intermediate pace and the other was accomplished Intermediate pace. The third guy was fairly quick, but not as fast as I expected... I stuffed him like a turkey in two... I got booted off the RC8 so he could get "Pictures" of him on it. Stuffaroo for you!!! Overall, the KTM guys are freakin' great guys. Absolutely willing to do whatever it takes to get the word out. The partnership with STT will be fun and rewarding for sure, but also a great platform for KTM to sound off with. Look for a few Super Dukes out there in the next few months playing around and Monte is due to get an RC8 soon. They have the 6 out in the infield and I think we may get one to be displayed at the track tomorrow on hot pit. Maybe... I get to do a write up so, I'll post it next week. Had fun, wore my ass out and overall, damn cool machine. -
FACK!!! I am SOOOOO tired today. Just got in after the KTM intro day. The RC8 was a little better today than Monday, but could still use some more set-up time. The damn Duke is retarded FUN!!! Drew, you'd been proud of me. Totally sideways off the back straight. So much fun... I'll be down on the cold side of pit. Look me up - #10 GSXR blue and black... I'm beat and will be freakin' wiped out tomorrow, but maybe be able to pull a few decent laps... Drew - wanna bring me water when I come in? I need a pit beotch!!!:D Oh, I got a SHIFT sweatshirt for ya. Faggggg....

Now I know what that was. I asked Shitty what it was and he said it was a pack of Rollos in his pocket. He's sneaky that way... -

You're a dealer. This was through KTM direct. Dealers will get to see the bike first hand shortly, for sure. I suspect KTM will organize a dealer ride of sorts with their top dealers... Not 100% as it wasn't brought up, but... I am blessed with being a part of STT and Monte invoted me to attend. It's a great opportunity to be involved at this level with the factory and they are a GREAT group of people. Not just saying it because they allowed me to ride their bikes along with a good number of other coaches. If it sucked, I'd say so or I wouldn't say anything... -

Well, the 750 is track prepped and race set-up so, I prefer it toe to toe. I think maybe Wednesday when we get a full day, I might be able to try and convince them to set it up to suit the track more and will have a better idea. Overall, great first attempt. -
Hehehehe... I got to ride something that was orange, went fairly well, handles like a 600 and there's only three (until tomorrow) that exist around here... More info after Wednesday as we were told not to really dish out details, but you sukkas missed out on some fun... Hopefully, a full write-up on STT's website by next week... We need to get Satan to hook up rides on new bikes for write ups on the site... In any case, loads of fun that you all didn't get to partake in. YEAH FOR ME!!!:D

For $600, it seems a bit cheaply made when sat next to a Suomy, Shoei or Arai. Little things and not much more, but at that price, you need to realize that other helmets in that price range are more thought out and seem to address a lot of concerns both in quality and features... Overall, it is a good choice and no matter what people say like Shoei is the best, Arai is the best, etc., you can easily find issues with about ANY helmet line no matter of $600 or $100... Arai is hand laid fiberglass which is pretty old school vs. bag molded. Hand laid had issues in that the layering isn't consistant across the scope of the helmet. Thinner in some spots, thicker in others... Plus, the side covers create noise. Shoei seems to do a lot right, but they don't have the helmet shapes to suit a bigger spectrum of riders like Arai has. They are slightly heavier than some of their competitiors, but overall, I like Shoei. They just don't fit me right... Suomy is a combo of Shoei and Arai and have some great features. The side plates suck and are a pain in the ass when shield changes come about. They do get a little noisier than the others at times. So, they all seem to lack something and therefore, cannot be addressed as best over others outside personal experience and typically, most don't get to evaluate multiple lids within the same design dates like some others do. The bottom line? If you have $600 to spend, look at them ALL and decide based on what YOU are looking for. Graphics, protection, noise, accessories, etc. It is to suit you and not what others think you should buy. Good luck.

I'll be at Iron Pony between 10 and noonish or later... I can bring the best set I have in terms of side wear - even though it isn't an issue for the street - you're the first to serve so, you get the best set. Let me know so I can plan on putting them in the car tomorrow. Anyone else?
-
I'm at Mid-O every day next week. So, that's an option. I also go through CBus every day almost so... Let me know what works...
-
Come on guys. $50??? Ought to sell these quicker...
-
Happy 13th birthday Drew! So, you still ride dem cycles or is your vagina still leaking and you can't ride? DAYUM!!
-
Where was this? Pretty damn good deal as they only got you for $190 extra and were really fair on doc fees and such. Realize though that on a non-popular and hard to get bike, that $190 freight charge is BS... But in this case, the bikes are not going less than retail and getting $190 extra is fine with me...
-
Yeah, Hinds sucks. You can tell thy don't give a shit as their floor is laid out like shit and bikes are randomly placed around. The parts department is a joke becuase they either can't pay bills or they don't want to spend money and get stuff in. I think if Jeff actually cared enough to put the amount of money he does in his vintage racing crap into the business itself, they might actually do well... But, I doubt they do... It's been said they are always in financial issues. It's kinda obvious when you go in there. But, they somehow stay open and have customers in and out all the time. Shame, really...
-
Or, you can have one of us help you set sag and show you how we do it and save $50... Not saying Jason isn't worth it - just saying you don't need a specialized guy for the job...
-
Yes, the PRC is a 120/70 style front. Triangulated for better left to right transitioning...
-
Ok, I need these damn tires outta here. These are AWESOME for you drag race guys, but also good nuff for street... 4 sets of Michelin Pilot Race. 190/55 rears and 120 PRC fronts. Fronts are awesome shape, rears are kinda worn on the outter edges. Almost like new centers. You guys know us road race guys never wear the centers. $50 a set front and rear. You only want a rear? $50 and you get a front free. I'll entertain offers, but I have 4 sets and the fifth will get wasted on Thursday next week.... Let me know.
