Welp, ask pretty much anyone and they'll tell ya the 2 Bros systems are pretty much packed like the old V&H systems. To each their own, but the dyno tests I've seen show they make more noise than power... They're cheap and thus, popular... It's all personal preference so, if you dig it, cool.

I think it is funny that people think someone who was dumb and didn't do a lick of research got robbed.... If a customer is an idiot, they're going to pay big bucks for something because they don't understand what they are getting into nor what to look for. Sure, there are some dealers out there that maybe do these things and it is somewhat unethical, but in reality, making full boat profit isn't a bad thing, either... There has been some good things to look for as a new buyer within this thread and so, a well versed buyer should be able to watch for items that don't need to be added or prices that are too much for what they are getting. Is it wrong to charge retail for something to someone that doesn't know they can bargain than to deal with certain customers that know the system and negotiate a lower price? Should dealers give every unit away at the lowest price they have recorded for that unit to EVERY customer that walks in the doors? If a Ninja 250 sells for $4500 OTD normally and a customer comes in and gets it for $4200 OTD, should that dealer then set the price to be $4200 OTD for every customer after that sale? Is it wrong to start out at $4700 OTD? I guess when I hear "robbed", I get offended as while that is a very high price for a bike that retails for $3500, I am also sometimes not offended that someone could be so dumb to not realize that they are paying over double what retail is for something... It's a two way street...

Actually, the TLR and the GSXR750 would be in the same class. Although the TLR is really less of a machine and more of a 600 based performace bike. Barely...

The cars may be similar in terms of configuration, but in reality, they are VERY different. The Fiero isn't aluminum and wasn't for the most part hand built to the attention the NSX was. Balance and the sure footed chassis of the NSX is far and away better than what the Fiero can bring. Also, the NSX is a race based platform that by today's standards is a bit useless and not as cutting edge, but the Fiero is and was by no means a race platform. Honda could have developed this car to be great, but in typical Honda fashion, they aren't willing to stretch their necks out and make something ultra performance. They prefer safe and middle of the road... Thus, the build cost of the NSX supports it's price tag. The components and the way it takes to build those components is where the cost is. The NSX is a great handling car. Friend has one and it is honestly pretty good. The later V6 Fieros are what I assume we are really looking at here in comparison and they are actually not that bad. However, their power plant isn't as refined nor is the chassis. It falls short because it really doesn't seem to gel as well as the NSX and it's components do. One thing you cannot take away from Honda - they have some great engineers. The S2000 is another good car that could have been great. But, it isn't. The two cars here are close... On paper... In reality, it is more like the Buell 1125R vs. the Ducati 1098S or R...

Dark Smoke or Light Smoke. I have some of each... New and lightly used... All with tear-off posts so, a bit more than the standard ones...

Except the Two Bros are packed with Newspaper and are obnoxiously loud. Make pretty much zero power compared to others... The Hindle made pipes are really good pipes for being thin walled SS. Not heavy and stout enough to hold up.

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that the bike seen in the pics is for shows and things like Bike Nights, etc. A marketing tool to make the Police Dept. look cool in the eyes of many... No way they are going to be able to properly train an officer to ride a bike like that nor be visible to the motorists out there. Can you imagine a cop on a GSXR running 120 on the outter belt? The common motorist doesn't pay enough attention let alone to a black bike with a lame light bar up front... Plus, no way to carry any thing like the laser gun, paperwork, etc. Show bike... The Hwy Patrol use HD tourers and are sneeky enough as it is and are definately cracking down hard out there. However, they are well trained and go through a pretty decent program to get certified.

Vale (pronounced Vali) is just a short name for Rossi. Like people calling Jason as "Jay"... -
I'll say this - a lot of dealers add on a bunch of prices and charges that are so beyond fair it isn't funny. However, on the other side of the coin, if the buyer is ignorant and doesn't do a little research, it isn't the dealership's fault if they don't check things out and negotiate prices. Dealers make a bunch more off financing and the things like insurance, fees, warranties, etc than they do off the unit. Always ask for the OTD price and what the check total needs to be. Figure on $40-$75 in Doc and title and whatever your tax is. If the total is way off the chart, ask them what you are being charged for EACH thing and go from there. Realize too that a dealership will get you in with a low price and try and sell you on the other stuff like GAP, etc... Stuff you really don't need...

Now, make sure you check what they charge below the retail price... Many dealers charge what they call Freight and Prep. Non existing charge that some make you pay to assist in assembly and such as most do it off site. It's a legit charge in terms of recoupe, but make sure it isn't too harsh and it can be negotiated as Kawasaki doesn't charge them any freight. It's rolled in there with their holdback, etc... Also, there are no set limits the fees can be for Doc and title, etc. The State limits it to a maximum of something like $250 for car guys, but motorcycle guys charge WAY less. You're best off to call for prices at other shops and see what they charge and use that as a bargaining chip when you go back in. ASK is notorious for charging beyond retail with a bunch of BS charges...

Actually it does have something to do with Troy. The original shop was founded in Troy. Hence, Troy Racing... Honda of Troy was adopted due to them picking up Honda and having the race team at the time. They actually sold Huskies at first and the owner was a factory supported Husky rider... LOTS of MX history in that place... Yamaha of Troy is their Pro MX race team...

How much was "half of book value"? Dealerships dealing on used MX bikes - espeically not so sought after trail based machines isn't the same as a street bike that every year sells for retail. Especially when they have a trrack record for such and the fact that they are new in body design, dealerships - even ones you're "buds" with - aren't going to push someone out of line for you or sell it to you for their cost... Plus, used units typically have MUCH more margins in them than new OEM units...

That's ifne and dandy had the bike not been changed this year. Thing is on the 250s, they get retail even before the change. So, let's say you have 7% tax. That's $245. Doc fees are at the lowest around $40 I think I've seen. Title and such is probably $25 at the lowest so, that's $311. So, $3811 OTD would be a fair price for an older model. However... This year's model is to the point people are on waiting lists. Unless someone cancelled and the next people on the list didn't want the color, there's none on the floors anywhere. So, most dealers are getting $4k before taxes and fees. You'd be lucky to get one $4500 or less OTD.... The mark up is very low on these bikes, as well. So, any dealer selling at cost (never happens no matter what) isn't even a thought. Good luck, but $4600 seems to be slightly high, but not anything major. I'd wait until Fall and then the prices will be closer to retail and waiting lists will be shorter...

Now, Yota... w/o using stick figures and really big letters in pretty colors, I think your answer was right here. :D

Guys... PMs cleared out. Dweez and Nate - open for business... I just forget to delete the sent PMs...

Again, even if a quick sale is needed, Craigslist and teh WERA classifieds is free. Posted it at $3k and see what happens after a week. Hell, if you don't have to make a payment by a certain time, I'd run the ad until that time to see what it nets you. State "firm on price" and to tell lowballers to forget it... Plus, you have a good color...

She'd get more in trade in value or if she sold it to a dealer...
-
You could probably get damn near retail price as they are not available easily. There are dealerships getting them, but they go to people that are on a waiting list. If you advertised it on Craigslist, WERA, and Cycle Trader for retail and throw in the warranty, I'd wager you would sell it within a week...

It's been a well known deal for years that he was involved in this stuff... Well, I should say, it was heavily speculated... Goes to show that shit catches up with you sooner or later...

1098S street bike for sale. Hard to find black/red...

Price is obviously OBO. Let me know as it needs gone as fast as we can get it moving. The color is pretty tough to come by and most Duc fans know this. However, it isn't so rare it is worth an arm and a leg. I think we could work a deal if the exhaust was part of the equation, but I feel the net would be higher to sell it alone. But, if interested in both, we can deal. Honestly, if you are looking at the new CBR1000RR, I'd hate to push away a sale, but it is a better choice... All around. -
If a dealer calls it Brake oil, you need to thank them for their suggestion and turn and walk away. Most brake FLUID is clear. Some dye theirs for unknown reasons, but if it was the clearest he has seen, he's retarded. My suggestion echoes the others. Buy something from Motul, Maxima, Repsol, etc and you'll be fine to mix it. Buy a high temp fluid as it will last you longer. Thing is, if it is just shy of half between Min and Max, you're 100% fine. Also note that if the fluid is clear, it hasn't broke down much and is actually at the best it can be. It is why most fluids are clear now as the darker it gets, the more it has been abused and needs relaced. You can mix most brake fluids. Watch the sythetics (which I think are pretty much phased away and non existant) as they can gel when mixed with DOT 3, 4, etc. Most will state what they are compatible with...

Looks like he was screwing around. Hate to say it, but when you mess around and there are 4 wheeled or more machines around, you tend to get the raw end of the stick. Bummer of a deal, but riders need to be more aware and less stupid on these bikes... http://www.10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2008/07/15/motorcycle_fatal.html?sid=102
