Less than a month! MotoSeries Round 1, Nelson Ledges May 3-5
Moto-Brian replied to TRMN8TR's topic in Track is Crack
Mad should fucking race while up there. Doesn't make sense to not to... If I get the electrical issue sorted, I will be there Saturday and Sunday. Racing 1000GT, and both 1000 SB races... -

The load range should be E... not sure what the hell you're talking about in P and LT... I can run the van, homo. We will just have some gas to buy! -
Easy. Seen several ZX14s at the track and even return customers often as well. It isn't what I would call ideal at levels above Novice, but it will be fine.

Mad- We could meet in Mansfield off 71 and truck together if you'd like. Unless you're pulling the mobile home with you... Then I have nothing to offer. It will be just me and the youngin. -
I honestly think this is a smart move and will help you in the long run. Bumping to expert only after one season isn't the way to go. You can argue the whole "only as fast as the competition you associate with" and justify to yourself, but at the end of the day - you may get faster, but do you get more experience? The point I am making is that back in the day, we would run the first year as a Novice and then run the National Challenge Series as a Novice and if enough points, we would go expert and run regionals. In other words, I think an extra year isn't a bad thing and to those that think you'll be cherry picking - I don't think that will be the case. It is a carrot for the field and something for them to get better and essentially bring the level of Novices up a bar or two. Thus, you get to expert and I will bet that you will be on the same level as a guy that moved up after only one season as a Novice. I think what happens is that guys get excited over the plate color. The guys that work on craft and don't care about color end up better for it. Not saying a single guy on here is in that color struck mode... But what I am saying is that finishes and times are what is being looked at (hopefully). Yes, you can push out a fast lap and finish in the top of the field, but can you do a fast lap and dig in and do even faster when prompted? Can you handle situations that require you to fall back on experience you've built over the years? I think everyone here is fast enough to be expert and will be fine. I just am supporting Hollyhaswood in his decision as I think he will be fine and advance well. I'm just worried about you youngins and me trying to learn a bike and sort shit with you all hammering out fast laps! I enjoyed watching you all last year and how you all advanced.

See you homos Saturday. -
Here's my take. As a racer and at some of the speeds we were getting close to, it started to get dangerous. That being said, track days are an easy and fun way to get to know Nelson. It's no Mid-Ohio. For sure. But, it isn't any worse than Gingerman or even really, Beaver. Again, those tracks are not going to look as bad and are going to have better facilities and amenities etc. But, Nelson has a fast line. It's there and we still can pull 09s easily. I know we can do faster, but for Moto-Series and in general, it works. Reasons why to go to Nelson with Moto Series: -Friends and the people there with the org. Great peeps, great race friends and track day buddies. Overall awesome feel. I associate it with when I first started racing and the fraternity feel we had. It later got to be a job almost and lost the fun factor. Moto Series provides GREAT competition. Look at the lap times with WERA. Right there. But, it has that fun factor that makes it a joy and you end up smiling all the time. -Challenge. Yes, the track has bumps, it has issues and it has some safety things that I even still am concerned about. BUT, it is also a challenge to fight your feelings and ride the damn track. There is a fast line and as you grow with the track and learn that line, it gets not only faster, but easier also. -The location makes sense. The cost, travel expenses, etc. All factors. Sure, come on down to Mid-Ohio, get to Beaver (Moto Series also) and do a Putnam. But, if you are in Ohio and for the money, you can't beat it. In the end, great place for track days 100%. Great racing and solid if not some of the best competition in the region. So, you get both slices. Fun and competition. Give it a try.

Pitbull trailer restraint pins GSXR600/750/1000

We got his forks and shock back from Reuben and we will get the motor assembled this weekend. However, the plan is for him to ride the NSR and get seat time before I put him on a big track. That's a HUGE step and I don't think he's ready... But, he will be there. He's a track rat for sure. -

I got that OEM set of clutch fibers as well as the lightly used complete set. Rotors from my 2009 1000, but I don't think they work on your toy bike. I will let you get close to the Duc. There will be a roped off area and only certain approved people will be allowed past. You can be on that list for a substantial fee... Seriously, though - it isn't anything special, but I cannot wait until I get to see what Chad did with it. I just hope the decals will be here before the first race! -

You gotta be one of the VERY few that think the 1199 is ugly or deserving of being in this thread. That being said, I submit the Speed Triple from Triumph that is a bike that would look STOOOPID sexy if they could get rid of the headlight that looks like you crashed and the headlight pod was only left to attach. If they went back to the retro round light or similar, it would be awesome. I also think if we are looking at current machines, Honda is struggling with design. The bikes are getting more and more panel covers that make shit hidden, but make the bikes look bulky and generic. That new Gold Wing bagger thing is an example... I have a tough time looking at older bikes and say they are ugly. I see the technology that drove what we have today and even if they are ugly or bulky looking, I see today's bikes and feel drawn to them... So, tough for me but there are some. Dunno. Cool thread idea and will be watching.

Return em. I'll bring these to Nelson. $45 -
I have a BRAND NEW Graves carbon canister with ti end caps. It is 54mm on the inlet so, you'd need to make sure you had the right mid pipe. Came off the GSXR and was designed to come out under the frame like an R6... But, can obviously be used for other uses or other bikes as long as your mid pipe OD is 54mm... Retail is over $300. Asking $150 OBO...

I have a new out of the package Active Brake Lever. Made by Galespeed and is billet and high quality. Retails for $115 Asking $50. Was on my 2009 GSXR1000 and will work on multiple years of GSXRs. THE CRG IS SOLD!!! The Active is the one on the bottom...

Getting ready for my first track day (Mid-Ohio)
Moto-Brian replied to 8Rider6's topic in Track is Crack
Unplug the headlight and certainly the tails. There can be NO light coming fro the tail light when braking. Also, unplugging the head light prevents gummy residue from the heat of the light on to the tape... USE DUCT TAPE on the wheel weights. Bring enough water to keep hydrated and bring plenty of fuel. You'll be amazed at how much you will use... -
Sorry about the fan comment. Guess I'm too used to no fans and what occurs on track bikes. My bad for sure. But, sounds like the problem was found.

Your fan coming on at 223 degrees is not the way it should go... Also, how do you overfill the coolant? Do you mean the overflow tank? There is a minimum line... If you changed coolant and dropped it completely, you probably have an air bubble and needs burped. You should not get into the habit of running the bike over 220 while moving... I am concerned about the thermostat. You need to run it until it gets over 180 and watch the gauge. The temp should rise and then fall a couple of degrees at some point. That means the Thermostat is working. If it climbs over 200 and not decrease at all, I say a thermostat is needed. Hard to tell without looking.
