  1. No worries. It's like R1 giving more background and now yourself. I just hate hearing people say one track sucks over another when other people who want to race MS for example and check on what people say and just avoid Nelson due to people's comments alone. I know the track, not a huge fan of the track, but enjoy what MS does, the show itself and how it is ran and above all, the guys racing. I enjoy the feeling like it used to be racing before it got all serious. It's the environment and what Todd has built into the series and how he has expanded it to be more than just Nelson. That's all. There are those on other sites I argue with that say they only will race southern tracks because they are better and the racers are faster. While I think a lot of southern racers are fast, there are a shit pile of fast northern guys that make the trek to Barber, Road Atlanta, etc and while they may not win, place inside the top ten. Considering they are rarely at the southern tracks, that means they are pretty accomplished and fast enough to get in there and be contenders all the while racing up north. The southern guys come to Nelson and Mid-O? Northern racers are the top guys typically. It's the same in any region, right? Point is that good racing and good racers along with a great org and solid structure make MS a great place to race and be a part of racing. Whether starting to race or a veteran looking for solid competition...
  2. Hey man, it can certainly be something that fits one vs another. You are right. But, the idea that some state that Nelson sucks and they have ridden it maybe 1-2 times or never raced there at all and say Gingerman is better is somewhat unfair. Like you saying Gingerman sucks balls and only being there once. Now, being there once and saying it felt better to you than Nelson, I think that's fair enough. My opinion is that Gingerman has deteriorated over the years. I was there back when they first opened it and as late as a few years ago. It has not been adjusted since. Now, the new addition may have added to it and made it more fun, but the idea that it is a track that has gotten worse, Nelson has always been bad since the 90s. So, it is what it is. But, to see a track falling apart and nothing being done, it kinda sucks and to be honest, I may have that in my mind when thinking of critiquing the track. But, both aren't gems in the degree other tracks are, but to say one track is better may fall more on the layout and how one struggles at another. To say they are similar is a better comparison...
  3. Exactly. You can ride either track and get something from it. Both will make you a better rider, but again, if they are the only ones you ride, they will eventually be the tracks you know the best and simply get you "used" to the issues.
  4. HUH!?!?!?! Uh, you know the forks both move up and down at the same time. The inside tube doesn't have any more pressure on it than the outside tube does. Otherwise, if you rode a mostly right handed turn, the right fork tube would get more wear and tear. They are not independant of one another. That's why you can run a 9.5 right fork or left fork spring and a 10.0 in the other and get a 9.75 rate. They work in unison. The thought here can be dirt, can be a bent tube, could have resulted from impact and twist from the crash. All sorts of what-ifs. But, because it sits on the kickstand, isn't why a fork tube will go vs the other... Put zip tyes on your tubes and park it on the stand. Check out the length on both sides when brought back up to the up and down position and measure. Both the same.
  5. The gapping seams and car induced ripples and dips in the turns. Nelson has the same things, but to say Gingerman is better than Nelson is like saying you'd rather lose your leg rather than your arm. Both are shit and both suck, but are they really that much better? Most people that say they like one crappy track over another are those that either haven't ridden both enough to know the differences or have ridden one more than another to really understand what the results can be. I was an advocate against Nelson for the longest time. But, at a regional and track day level? It is a fine track and can be fast and rewarding. The guys that get all spoiled over tracks like Mid-O, Barber, etc and just avoid Nelson after one visit or from what people say about it are not really worthy to be talking shit about it...
  6. The guys bitching about Gingerman over Nelson probably don't have much seat time at either and therefore, not really able to asses the differences. Nelson can be fast and yes, it is bumpy as shit, but setup and line choice can and will make the track flow and be fast. Gingerman has elements that are just shit and until they repave everything, they are not going to change. There is a reason that even club races are no longer there...
  7. What is a PePe? Is that your French nickname that Craig gave you after an electrifying night in the back of the truck cab? You mean PeePee?
  8. Nah, that isn't me. If it is shit, I tell ya. The R is badass and will be contested by two guys in my region so, it will be cool to see. Loads of neato things that really make it shine, but to many, they won't see it. 4 position swingarm pivot, different full system, engine upgrades, etc. HD? Not likely. I was at KTM for almost 3 years. Time flies... But, I plan on being with these guys a long time. The initial reaction to being on board was WAY more positive than at the other place. Almost within the same week, I was asking if I made the right move. Here? It was awesome and has been really positive. Plus, the bikes are bad ass!!!
  9. At this stage, it looks pretty good if you can pull off a 12-4pm timeline in terms of starting. Otherwise, it gets late for me and I have family in town that weekend so, I would like to be with them. Let me know. I'd probably have my dad with me as he is up from FL and was always with me at the track. He'd get a kick from hanging around and listening and watching...
  10. Sans bodywork... Cool pic as it shows the way the frame and swingarm are connected.
  11. Oh, and yes, the printer is on WiFi and while it is not transmitting data, apparently it is counted. I print a decent amount of stuff, but that has not changed since we have moved here. In fact, again - I am doing less than before... I am baffled...
  12. HAHAHA! Fellow sticks guy! But, I am even deeper sticks that you! We cannot get DSL yet from Frontier...
  13. Here is a thread that is interesting and looks to be something a good number of people have had issue with recently... https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/733756 We have actually throttled back as we have increased our use. But, as we decrease, we are constantly using more. I am thinking of checking out Huges Net. Anyone use this?
  14. Video streaming isn't going on outside a casual video here and there. AND, we have cut that back in a BIG way once we increased our usage. The last month was where we were charged for 39gb of use!!! I had a $500 bill for that! I had my son stop doing the tank game and he was playing from after school around 5pm until dinner (Maybe a couple of hours each day) for two days. I had him stop completely and the last two days he hasn't even had his laptop turned on. Now, 4 days into billing and we are over??? This isn't making sense, man.
  15. We are on 3 acres of our own. We have probably close to 15 acres between us and the next house. They would have to be sitting in my driveway and connect. I also can see the dots to indicate what number of units are connected... VOD on Dish? Not sure what that is. We do not do anything via DISH other than watch TV. No movies being watched and no downloads at all. The only thing we had going on was my son plays world of tanks online with his friends. BUT< he was always doing this and it was never an issue. Plus, he is at school and I am the only one at home since we woke up. I only sent a few emails, surfed the web, no Youtube, no computer updates, no downloading pictures, etc. Hell, the emails didn't even have pics attached or a single file attached. I went at 5:47AM of 75% of 20GB to 28GB at 9:02AM when I called Verizon. 4 hours and that much use? Something is up... These have locked up and we have had units sent to us twice to replace the ones with issues, had SIM cards replaced and still have these things lock up time to time. This has been an experience to where I spend almost $200 a month for shit service and problems. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Satellite is saying they have a 15GB/month package with 10-12mbs available for about $70 less a month. Not sure if it is worth it or maybe I would have better service and less issues. Obviously during storms it will suck, but who cares about that - I will tether via the iPhone if need be. I just am really bummed I cannot get internet well... Anyone know anything about the Recovery Act regarding rural internet service?
  16. I had used 75% in the last 4 days. No gaming or anything. That was this morning. In the last 4 hours, we are now at 8GB over!!!!! There's something going on...
  17. How would they be using if web pages are closed? Meaning, I can see email coming in, but are they using even though there is no pages being left opened?
  18. OK, living in the country is cool. We got land, get to run around like goobers and burn my trash. Love it. But, internet is KILLING me!!! We have Verizon MiFi and we are paying close to $200/month for 20gb. Now, not only is that stupid expensive, we have been blowing through it. I don't understand how we are doing it and of course, Verizon cannot give me a breakdown as to what my usage is or at what times to validate what we are burning up. I am basically taking their word for it. Now, my son has been playing online tank games and was playing against friends and I know that sucks the life out. But, he played two days after school this month and we are 4 days into the billing cycle and we are already at 75%!!!! I don't do youtube much, no streaming anything, no downloads, etc. Everything is pretty much email and forum surfing. I get the occasional 2-3mb files via email and stuff like that for work, but this is getting crazy! We use satellite as we cannot get cable this far out. But, I heard satellite is worse... ANY options out there at all? This is something that at $3k a year is getting out of hand.
  19. The only other system available for the 1199 right now that is worth thinking about is the Akra. They unfortunately are $1k more and no up map. The ECU at this stage is so new that they do not have any system available for it and it is something that is really just going to be a piggy back type deal when available. That means, no tuning of the traction control settings, etc. Which is fine, but we are looking into something better via Ducati Corse connections. We are also looking at trying to get our hands on the R model system. At this stage, there isn't even a fische finder in the system for that bike and so, we cannot source the part code. Yet. The big difference however, is that the R has different rods which allows for a higher RPM. Once we evaluate the differences, we can asses whether the R exhaust makes sense or not. It has a longer head tube on it for higher RPM performance and a stronger mid-range. Once we get dyno time and tuning time on the ECU, we can figure things out. We will get the ECU unlocked and tune that to where we need it to be... As for 30mm vs. stock, it will most likely be similar to that of when I ran the 30mm kit in the GSXR. I really liked the fact that I got more feedback. I also think with bigger pistons, I can run lower fork fluid height, etc and get more feel and have a better suited to my riding style front end. I am sure it is like any other Ohlins equipped street bike in that it is cool to see that gold set of forks, but at the end of the day, valving and setup for street is much different than track. Even the guys with 1198 Rs were going different cartridge kits for the same reasons...
  20. I'm not like that, man. I don't do these threads to show off. I am working hard, traveling a ton and trying to make a living and really, just have a cool perk to get a good discount on a motorcycle. Nothing special. But, instead of posting YouTube videos of myself or telling everyone I am a fancy, smancy racer guy, I like posting build threads. I personally like them as the transformation from stock to race is kinda cool. We will have some juicy bits along the way also. It ain't gonna be all bolt on stuff... It's like watching Fast N' Loud. I just like watching the process and figured I would share. I hope everyone knows I do not mean to brag. Trust me, I can barely afford this shit. I just started along the way and got some support and get help from folks. Have a killer tuner and a few friends in the biz and everyone is what makes the wheels go round. I just get to look good doing it and unfortunately, they usually don't ever get enough praise or credit. Without them, I would be riding a dirt bike in a corn field and that's about it...
  21. Well, the difference at retail is $10k... Even a guy like me looks at it as $30k starting point with the parts added on top. The R has a slick set of rods and a higher RPM and a full "Pro" system, but in the end, I do not think it is a huge enough difference to warrant $10k plus. I can buy a lot of speed parts for $10k...
  22. Maybe you will gain some speed and be able to keep me in sight. BOOM! Honestly, I am hoping I can make it in early Jan/Feb. Issue for me is that I have 4 IMS shows and a Sales Meeting to attend. It's going to be tough which sucks. I also got word I may try a JRI rear shock and would like to go to Jennings and test. We will see. I'd really like to get back out and ride with you guys. I had a lot of fun that Jennings trip with KTM. It's cool seeing you guys and your dad, etc. You all are good peeps. Ok, you're a fag, but you get the idea...
