    Baby-Rad!

crossing my fingers that work will be closed tomorrow due to weather, and I'll get a whole day with her :-) Cuyahoga County courts are already closed. The first domino has fallen.
  2. ...now I'm looking at cheap beater cars My brother's old ZX2 got 44 mpg highway when I used to drive it to Philadelphia and back. Lists about 30hp and 30ft-lbs. higher than the CRX, and only weighs about 500 lbs. more.

    Baby-Rad!

I'm a few days late, but this is really the first time in 5 days that I've accessed the internet from a computer rather than my phone. My wife started having contractions Tuesday morning, but not with any regularity, so I went to work to tie up loose ends, return all the files I had at home, and try to catch up the other attorneys who were going to have to cover my cases... By Wednesday morning, it was pretty clear that the baby was coming that day. Nora finally made her appearance at 6:39. All 8 lbs., 9 ounces of her. Sara managed to go through labor and delivery without any drugs or sedatives, which was both impressive, and terrifying to witness. We came home from the hospital Friday morning, and mom and baby have both been doing great. I am back at work today, but heading out early (I hope) to go back to being dad. Which is totally weird to say, but surprisingly not strange to be/do.
  4. what would you buy instead for $1,000 to $2,500? I've never lusted after a CRX, but I'd drive one if I needed cheap transportation that was surprisingly fun. ...I would probably look at an Escort ZX2 first, but the CRX is the same philosophy, with more aftermarket support.
  5. It's fun now, just probably a bit frustrating for the average joe who would walk in without also being a speed enthusiast. Maybe I'm not giving joe public enough credit, but I think a solid 33% of the population would spin out in every turn and not grasp the concept of steering into the skid. But I'm surely biased after 6 hours on 71 yesterday... People were spinning out just trying to go straight! If anyone cares, I think my best time was in the low 44's. maybe a high 43. Never came near the front in any of my heat races though. I got spun in traffic early in both races, then spun myself a few times trying to catch up.
  6. Baby was born Wednesday. Might actually make the show. Wife might not be as enthused about the after party though.
  7. LArry isn't too skinny and he manages 1:04's at CRP. bring 4 guys and you can have your own "hefty" race class
  8. Just finished racing with OMRL there. The karts were more impressive than I expected. The lack of grip was weird, but it was weird for everyone. I turned my fastest lap in my second session, then kept making mistakes trying to e more aggressive. Oops. I would consider a winter league, but if they're not opening until march, this winter is kind of shot. Bike racing starts in April.
  9. and I will sincerely try to get the fat kat out to Nelson this summer at least once. Probably do a track day to get a feel for the pig, and then decide if I can race it, or if I would just be scaring myself and getting in other people's way.
  10. this pic has been out on the internet forever...
  11. constructing an entire second "South" track. The two should be able to connect to make a 3.5 mile course though.
  12. My dad owned one for a cup of coffee. I rode it more than he did. At the time, I had only owned my EX500, and my brother had his Seca II. With that said, I rode 3 of the 90's most popular beginner bikes back-to-back-to-back on multiple occasions. I liked the handling and brakes of the GS the best. By a lot. It also felt the lightest, and probably is. Magazines disagree with me about the brakes. They liked the EX's better. The Seca feels smoothest, but definitely heaviest. The GS was least powerful, but fun to wring the piss out of at every green light. I like the naked model better. The faired one does look good compared to the Ex500, but an EX will leave it far behind if acceleration or top speed are involved. The GS500 tips out around 100mph, in ninja 250 territory.
  13. You better put ALL the parts stickers on if you want to hit :55's.
  14. I knew a kid named Todd who rode track days on a tuono and did really well on it. I would love to ride one. They seem to have all the aspects of a great street bike and a very good track bike. About the perfect combination for anyone who wants to keep a headlight mounted. Enjoy it.
  15. Yeah, I actually blocked up out vents. It made our floor super cold in the winter an put our pipes at risk of freezing. Not sure what the "right" answer is. How long you plan on living there?
  16. What kind of laps are you shooing for at CRP?
  17. I would plan to buy a set of tires for that trip, but possibly. Gotta get the big Kat to Nelson and see if Todd will let a 90hp air-cooled 460 lbs 750 race in 600 superbike :-P Even out the tread wear at a track day at least.
  18. I just found out they cap out comp time at 100 hours. I average 10 hour days at work, so 100 comes up pretty quickly. I would want to ride the whole way and camp though... Camp sites have hot showers, and an air mattress makes a tent quite comfy, in my experience.
  19. For a guy who loves his multi so much, you sure do try to sell/trade it a lot. Nice FZ1 though.
  20. Just saw how much tread is left on the rear tire. Plenty of miles left on that, let alone the bike!
  21. I think the "absolute" part is what Tonik is most opposed to! The inability to take back a death sentence is the problem.
  22. out for this, but only because I'm planning to attend the OMRL banquet on the 25th... would be interested in future group "tournaments."
  23. Vigilante justice is off-topic for this thread. If people support the "Dexter" philosophy, I can understand that (even if i dont agree), but I don't think it's the justice System's place to be imposing the same penalties.
