  1. As noted, I've been riding around in my buddy's with 36's and a 10" lift or something stupid. A stock suspension would be bliss by comparison.
  2. looking at the old liberty diesel numbers, it got 25% better fuel economy than the V6 with the same 5,000 lbs. towing capacity. So I could reasonably tow a 6x10 with a couple bikes, or 1 bike and all the shit in the world. damn, now I really really want this to be an option even the interiors on wranglers have gotten down-right liveable.
  3. now that you mention it, i do recall the diesel liberty, but not the grand cherokee. That was probably part of the Daimler/Chrysler merger. Not sure why they wouldn't have pushed it further. I have been riding around in my buddy's wrangler a lot, and although I'm generally against 4-door wranglers, it makes the car infinitely more practical, and only really compromises off-road ability (which I don't get to do often anyway). It wouldn't be "sporty," but that's why I have the bike... A 6 speed with 33" all-terrains and a small lift would made it "fun," and a hard top/soft top combo would just make it pretty much the best vehicle ever.
  4. If jeep would put a diesel straight 6 in a 4 door wrangler, I would never buy another vehicle ever. Good in snow. Can tow enough. Top off in summer. 4x4 in winter. Manual transmission. Decent mileage. Why haven't they done this?
  5. Electric bikes aren't quiet. They might be a bit quietER than gas bikes, but there will still be noise issues with electric bikes on track.
  6. It might be cheaper and easier (or just mor practical) to add power to a GP bike rather than mess with aero kits that definitely won't crash well
  7. Right, and they are 100 years of development time behind combustion engine vehicles. I'm impressed with the rate of progress, but they're a few break-throughs away from being practical, viable, and cost effective. The aero stuff is an interesting question. I can't believe cyszs (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) is coming up with aero ideas that Yamaha and Ducati and Honda haven't considered on their GP bikes, but I suppose it's possible. I just look at the sheer number of engineers in the major outfits versus the relative few at smaller shops. Then again the Buells and Cyczs's of the world are probably a lot less likely to fire an engineer for suggestions that go against conventional wisdom.
  8. I'm very impressed with how far they've come, but electric bikes are still hunting for a 100mph average. A decent rider on a 600 does the IOM course at 115-117 average speed. That's a big gap for the time being.
  9. Fixing my Arata can cost me all of $9.99 at harbor freight. It is a total piece of shit, but I only needed it to work on 4 rivets, so buying a better one wasn't desirable. How often are you going to use a rivet gun?
  10. I think GS500 is a good first bike. I really like the look of the naked. You can find them for $1,200-$2,000 all day long too.
  11. Nope. They're "average" or below average when it comes to aggression (serious article) http://www.dogguide.net/blog/2008/07/the-3-most-aggressive-dog-breeds-revealed-pit-bulls-rottweilers-youll-be-surprised/
  12. Silicone can't be any more of a hassle than drilling.
  13. Since when is 109k low miles? I traded mine in with 115k or so! If you like that truck for that price, my only caution would be to THOROUGHLY think about life without the extended cab. You can't even go on a beer run with 1 other person without the beer (or the buddy) riding home getting hot in the bed.
  14. it's more of a "if someone's interested, and we can agree on a price, i'll sell." But i'm not actively looking to sell. yet. I don't think i'll be racing next weekend, but unless conflicts arise (i know my cousin's graduation party is some time in June) I'll still stop by and be gay.
  15. If I don't sell the full package, I'm just going to keep racing it.
  16. Original post has been edited below. I removed the trailer and generator, as I'd like to keep those. Bike & extras are now $2900(negotiable) ************************************************************* fully race-prepped and safety wired bike (2003 Honda 600RR) (i hold the title, but it's not in my name) - woodcraft clipons - woodcraft rearsets - race bodywork (in repaired condition. Totally useable, but not pretty) - stainless brake lines - power commander III (currently mapped for 87 octane. Made 104hp at the wheel a few years ago) - FULL arata titanium exhaust system - Scotts damper - gear indicator - fully safety wired to WERA, MotoSeries, or NESBA "A" group specifications - CRG adjustable levers - Power Ones with one day of riding on them. - Penske rear shock - forks rebuilt last season The gauges are cracked, and the fairings have been dinged up a bit. I rode the bike in its current condition at PIRC over labor day weekend, and it was great all day. EXTRAS INCLUDED: - random bike spares (mostly stock stuff that was removed, and an extra rear sprocket, with carrier and cush-drive) - XT lap timer (with timing beacon) - front and rear stands (no-name rear, and T-rex front.) - dual temp tire warmers - all sockets for the bike (axles, steering head, etc.) - vortex upper triple clamp (I removed it to be SuperStock legal with WERA. It is 100% legal to run with MotoSeries, and in hindsight, no one would protest you in WERA for running it on a 2003 unless they are a total douchenozzle.)
  17. I have thought about something like this as well, but I am intent on maintaining a ten-speed bike's rear gearset so it would be scary fast. Every time I start to add up costs, an old scooter ends up being cheaper...
  18. that's the other thing in the back of my mind... I am faster at BeaveRun than Nelson, so if I have to choose between one or the other, it makes more sense to pick up more points at BeaveRun. Maybe I'll flip the rear and just watch it fall apart at Nelson
  19. I am trying to swing 2 races on Sunday, but may not have enough tire for it We'll see...
  20. Exactly. When I had my F2, a lot of guys on another forum would swap in a 900rr engine. As far as the insurance company was concerned, it was still a 20 year old 600cc bike, and their rates were accordingly lower.
  21. Fwiw, I love this gen 600rr. Totally competent on track. I keep up with much newer bikes without really noticing any disadvantage as far as power.
  22. The frame IS the motorcycle, so you're never really swapping frames; you're swapping everything else. As for this particular bike, Matt can correct me of I'm wrong, but I believe the first wreck was 95% cosmetic, which is when he bought it and repaired it. No insurance claim was ever filed by the PO. Then he laid it down at Nelson last summer in track trim. Obviously there was never any insurance claim there either. No claims would always yield a clear title.
  23. Unless its a diesel, I wouldn't pay $6k for a truck with that many miles. $4k maybe.
  24. No time to ride, or did I miss something?
  25. That's pretty sweet. If I had FU money, I'd buy it off you for $10k and agree to sell it back for the same whenever you can swing it. That bike would live in my family room, and come out once a week to make people jealous on some street rides.
