  1. my parents rented an apartment when i was born, but i don't remember it at all. Probably moved into our first house when I was 2 - that was Parma, OH. I actually live less than 3 miles from that house now, but I spent about 20 years in between living in Broadview Heights, which is still probably only 7 miles away. So unless you count the 4 years I lived on UD's campus, I've lived in the same 10 mile radius my entire life. that's weird...
  2. is there a reason you're concerned about a 'legal' sale? unless someone is trying to put the bikes on the street, I can't think of a scenario where they'd need a title for a dirt bike. you get pulled over with the bike(s) on a trailer, and explain to the officer that they're pre 198X - what's he going to say? i mean, if the cop is a total douche, he might be able to impound the bikes, and you'd have to go to court, explain the same thing you just said here, and then the presiding judge might actually help you out in getting a proper title.
  3. right, because Honda is an American company... I'm sure they'll market it here, but it's not like Ford or GM or even Apple is the one designing this thing.
  4. good luck enforcing that law. prove i was texting. you saw me? i was doing something else with my phone. Now if they can subpoena records from the cell companies, they're on to something -but I don't think they can (yet). texting while driving is illegal in Cleveland as well, but they won't catch anyone unless the offender actually causes an accident, in which case, they're just going to be found negligent in a civil case, and convict them of 'failure to control a motor vehicle,' or something in a criminal case. waste of legislation, IMO. I understand that the goal is to PREVENT accidents - i just don't see it having much of an affect.
  5. everything on the internet is serious, isn't it?
  6. if you're going to buy a front stand, i highly recommend the steering-head type rather than fork-base type. much more stable, and you can do 100% of your fork work without ratchet-strapping the bike to the rafters of your garage (or the swing-set of the playground down the street, if you're me and don't have rafters) the handy industries stands look like a good cheap solution. I have the BVP rear from Iron Pony ($50) and a T-rex front stand holding my CBR up any time it's not being ridden. the kick stand is in my work bench (somewhere), and hasn't been on the bike in a looooooong time.
  7. sweet. i'm going to start describing myself as "ASM" for "athletic sarcastic man."
  8. Both tires pictures have sold. anyone who had contacted me with interest will get a PM (in the order I received them, or they posted to this thread) regarding the other set I have in my garage - I just have to pick up some tire spoons and get the next set off my spare rims. same size tires, but Dragon Supercorsas I think - and they are shot for any kind of serious twisty riding... definitely no trackdays. But great for highway commuting or stunting. I'll have a different thread for that set.
  9. enlighten those of us who don't frequent online personal ads. the few times I've seen "BBW" used online were in links to porn sites, and I always assumed it meant "big black woman." this would be funnier if I were joking.

home of the Wendy's corporate. need I say more?
  11. Tpoppa - i live in Parma, off Ridge (neighborhood behind the DQ on ridge) I can drop the tire off, or you can come get it. I'll let you two handle the finances.
  12. the forza is a great entry level suit for the price. cheaper than most you'll find, but still well made. that is what a lot of people recommended to me when I wanted to get into track days.
  13. jbot has first pick - i think i replied to everyone's PM's. I do have a second rear, but it's currently mounted on a rim. If i can find a shop that doesn't want to charge me out the ass to have it removed, I'll post that one up for sale as well. I believe that set is supercorsas. no one wants the fronts?
  14. my EX500 was my first bike. I been trying for weeks (in June of 2002?) to look at various inexpensive bikes, and they kept getting sold out from under me before I even had a chance to see them in person. I put down a deposit on my EX within 30 minutes of first seeing it, and never even looked at another bike (except the other 3 the same owner had for sale). paid $1450 for a '97 (in 2002) with under 5,000 miles on it. It did need new tires, but whatever - i feel like i bought well, despite not knowing what i was doing, or what i was buying. in retrospect, I'm really happy with my decision to get a 'sporty' bike that wasn't a full-blown sportbike. I was really looking for old cruisers, but ended up liking good handling more than noise and style. now i don't spend a dime on the street bike, and I beat the hell out of the track bike as often as possible.
  15. Bikes: 1997 Kawasaki EX500 (daily ride) 2003 Honda CBR 600RR (track only) (sometimes) 1994(?) Yamaha Seca II (brother's) (sometimes) 1999 Suzuki GS500 (dad's - for sale $2200/offer, although my wife is riding it at the moment) Cars: 1998 Ford Ranger XLT (about to roll past 100k finally - thank you EX500 for keeping miles off the truck) 2003 Dodge Neon SXT (wife's - i hate the 3 speed automatic... can't wait for this car to die) but the best thing about my garage is the pair of mini fridges stocked with beer. I actually lucked out in the garage department - when we bought the house, the garage was definitely a selling point. it's kind of "L" shaped, so there's room for 2 cars side-by-side, and then an area off in the "L" part that fits 3 bikes. It's also deep enough that I can fit one or two bikes in front of the cars I could probably fit 6 bikes in the garage, and not have to park any cars outside. After that, the bikes would go on our back porch, but I think i'd be sleeping out there with them...
  16. tire has not sold, unless someone claimed it in the thread - i haven't checked yet.

sorry i didn't get back to you while you were in town, but i'm sure we can arrange something if you're interested in the rear.

  17. I didn't pay the $110 for my WERA license, but I may next season. both of the Dave's from the class (primer 2005 RR, and red 2003 RR) raced teh following day. Younger dave on the Red bike crashed between turn 4 and turn 5, and primer Dave finished second-to-last, but kept it on two wheels. I think i would have ended up being about 5th from last, assuming neither Dave got a ton faster over night that first race is killer... it's like $250 $110 race license $60 transponder rental ($330 to buy!) $85 for the race itself and a tad more, if you need to buy yellow number plates, and black numbers (that's one of my winter projects) see you out there!
  18. JB's on the WERA board, so he posted there himself. The bike sold from that ad on Sunday. The SV will spend the rest of its life as a race bike. I'm hoping I can still visit it at the track every so often
  19. SOLD SOLD SOLD \track takeoffs, with TONS of center tread and thousands of street miles left in them. Honestly, I should have ridden these a day or two more at the track, and the front is nowhere near needing to be replaced even for the track - but I put a Dunlop rear on and didn't want to mis-match. Pirelli Diable Corsa III 180 rear and 120 front (both 17in rims) - should fit any modern 600cc bike. Rear - $60 negotiable Front - $30 negotiable $75 cash for the set, or make me an offer for the individual tires. I prefer not to ship Tires are in Parma (right off 480, at Ridge), I work in Independence, and I'm at CSU Monday-Thursday from around 5:30 to at least 7:30. I'm happy to meet you, even if you just want to take a look. PM me if you're interested crappy cell-phone pics, with abe's head in the tread for reference. they're in better shape than the pictures show. Rear: front:
  20. www.peterlenz.com has the full story with correct details. that youtube video of him passing everyone makes him look more impressive than he is. Don't get me wrong - he's an amazingly talented rider, but in that video, he's weaving through a bunch of novices who aren't even putting a knee down. He passes a liter bike on the straight at one point. Again, the kid has crazy skills, but I don't think that particular video shows them - there's just too much slow traffic for him to even be on the race line very often.
  21. Peter Lenz will be the real deal some day soon, but I know he crashed relatively recently. within the last year for sure. something about his RS125 being in bad repair, and his brakes failing. In the hospital, he wrote his dad a note that said "no one pumped my brakes," presumably after a tire change, or something. In reality, there was a major failure in the master cylinder, or the caliper, or something... regardless, he was out of racing fora little while, healing, and his parents were saving to get him a newer bike.
  22. Oprah said it's ok to be afraid of young, black men/boys. where's the family guy episode? "I was listening to Howard Stern this morning, and Howard made a black joke, but Robin laughed, so it was ok." here's the rub: true is true. funny is funny. people need to lighten up and accept that just because they're the exception, others still think of them as part of the 'rule,' however inappropriate or incorrect that term ('rule') is. if i have to do my part to end racism by impregnating a hot young woman of African ancestry, then by god, I think i owe it to my country to try harder at the bar this weekend.
  23. did the "eye-roll" smiley not adequately convey my satirical tone? but if you're going to take the comment seriously, what do poor white kids do? who do they emulate? the 'gangsta' lifestyle. stereotypes parallel economic position a lot more than they do race.
  24. can we talk about hate crimes next?
  25. I'm not sure if you meant for that remark to be an insult or not, but I don't disagree. my views align most closely with the Libertarian party on major issues. I'm fiscally conservative and socially semi-liberal. isn't the joke, "a Libertarian is a Democrat who learned economics?" if you want to call me "a Republican who doesn't hate gay people," I'm not uncomfortable with that. and if you wanna talk racism, I'm not racist at all! I'm an avid poorist though. I can't stand poor people, no matter what race they are - most I encounter just happen to be black
