  1. So after leaving my friends and family in ohio in search for a career, it finally popped on me. I know in this economy it's difficult to land a job in several industries, so the odds were highly against me. With some patience and a lot of networking, I FINALLY GOT MY JOB OFFER! I'm moving to Patuxent River, Maryland to start my position as an engineer at NAVAIR on the NAS Pax base. I've been assigned to work on the communications system for the Sikorsky SH60 Seahawk. I've been waiting almost a year for an opportunity like this. For all you Cincinnati people, and you know who you are, I'll be back in 3 weeks so clear your calendars. I'll see you all soon.
  2. I'd make my way up there brian, but I just moved out of ohio. It'll be a few years before I have my bike back up there. I know I need to go to the same dyno to see progress on my mods so I'm still curious to see how much power it really has.
  3. that's what I'm trying to figure out. I want to try a different dyno cuz that sounded really high. The current setup is the with an Arrow GP full exhaust, BMC air filters, new ngk iridium plugs, power commander with custom map and the sprocket change. oh, and a little crack to give it a boost. There was another 2007 RR with a micron and a bazzaz wide band setup that was 12 hp lower. he tested right before me. the other was a stock ducati 848 that hit low 130s so I don't know if it's a calibration thing or something else.
  4. I finally dyno'd my bike today at the leesburg bikefest in a local shop. result: 178.3 HP at 10750 RPM 93 ft-lb torque at 8400 RPM I don't have a scanner for the dyno sheet, but I can post a picture???
  5. I went government for my job findings. FBI is on a hiring spree. I went to navair. they're hiring some 800 engineers for the JSF and H53-K programs. It's hard to find anything in the private sector right now. The downside is, you may have to move, but in this time, do it if you can.
  6. wasn't me. I don't even know what twisties are anymore. anybody come down with you from that way matt?
  7. Car wash.... They use soap. http://www.break.com/usercontent/2008/1/Motorcycle-Through-Car-Wash-433176.html
  8. hard part with the .50 is it's still $5 a shot and nobody makes a match grade round for it. The .50 was intended for anti-artillery whereas the .308 and .338 are intended for anti-personnel. There may be more momentum carried by the .50, but it is not as consistently accurate as the others at long range. It sounds fun, but also way too much gun. My other problem is the availability of this type of firearm. Most have been back-ordered 12 or more months. The to I listed are immediately available for me to take home. I looked at a kimber 8400 tactical previously, but it's no longer available.
  9. ha ha, I was thinking about making some sport with it. All my searching for a good HP rifle taught me one thing, shit's not gonna be cheap. I would suggest staying at schmuckingham's place for the zombies. The AR's crank out more rounds than I can count. I'll just snipe the wandering ones from home.
  10. So I've been shopping for a good high powered rifle for about 4 months now and I've been narrowing down my decision to 2 options. I know some of you long range shooters have experience with different calibers and possible some different rifles. I'm just looking for feedback. The first rifle is the Sako TRG 42. The rifle is chambered with a .338 Lupau round. The rifle itself is selling for $2700, then I pay $500 for a bipod made just for it and about $1300 for the Leupold Mk 4 extended range 6.5-20 X 50 scope. http://www.sako.fi/sakotrgmodels.php?trg42 The other rifle is the Blaser tactical 2. It is a brand recently affiliated with Sigsauer. The rifle is chambered in the .308 win for $3500. The ammo is about $50-70 for a box of 20. I expect it to cost maybe $350 for a good bipod and the same leupold scope, possibly the 4.5-14 X 50 since the .308 has a shorter range. The muzzle break should be a few hundred too. http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=31&productid=246 I've been shooting for almost 18 years, but I will be new to the high powered rifle scene. I know both of these are a lot gun, but I only want to buy once and do it right. Any suggestions?

  17. ok, for fixing warped rotors. this is the same concept as truing a bicycle wheel, except without spokes. use a long zip tie and tie to your fork lower by the warped rotor. the end of the zip tie should be perpendicular to the rotor itself and very close, so trim the end accordingly. As you turn your wheel, you should see the deviation of the rotor relative to the zip tie and at the same time hear where it rubs on the brake pads. now you have a reference to what part of the rotor is out of true. Use any soft surface, but sturdy leverage device (like a 2X4) to bend that part of the rotor back into the direction of true. Do this in small increments until the rotor itself is back in true to your satisfactory. you can use the fork tube or rim/tire as your fulcrum when bending the rotor back. Overall, this method was successful and I had to fix my rotors.
  18. so WTF did I move out the wrong year. it's good to see the cincy group growing this much. welcome to the board.
  19. I graduated from there last spring with a BS in industrial and systems engineering. I'm about to start working with NAVAIR in southern Maryland in June. Good connections out this way.
