  1. I wouldn't want that CBR after your icky mexican hands got pico de gallo all over the throttle and thumbswitches.

Maybe he needs to buy a new one because he's a germophobe? Maybe he doesn't want ass-cooties from the last person who rode it?

  2. I guess it would depend on how fat your stack really is. At Fidelity for example, a lot of the mutual funds require a $2500 minimum to buy in.

But here -- read these, should keep you occupied for awhile. Educate yourself on how this stuff works, it's important, trust me.

    *Caveats

-Note the dates the articles were written, some advice may no longer be applicable, but a lot of the advice is timeless.

-I'm not a financial planner or adviser, but I do well on my personal investments

My personal summary: Invest in mutual funds with modest performance and low expense ratios, diversify in all directions (Small vs. Mid vs. Large, Growth vs. Blend vs. Value, Domestic vs. International, Bonds, Sectors, and Indexes) without watering down your portfolio. Rebalance when necessary. EDUCATE YOURSELF <--- probably the most important advice.

  3. make your own lojack out of a cell phone and gps module.

This is the cheapest and best option if you don't want full coverage.

Or, instead of full coverage, put liability + comp on it and ditch the collision part of the insurance.

Comp covers fire, theft, vandalism -- I believe comp would even cover you if you hit a deer, since it's not your fault. Collision is what covers you and your ride if you do something stupid and it's your fault. So, don't do anything stupid that's YOUR fault or you end up eating the cost of your own mistake.

Collision also happens to be the most expensive part of the policy too, so drop that -- keep liability (so you're legal to ride) and comp (to cover other disrespectful a$$holes and mother nature) with a high deductible and you should be covered cheap.

  4. That's fine, not all of us have that silver spoon. I sure as hell wouldn't pay $200/mo to insure a new toy. And you already said you aren't good with credit. So that's how investors get rich. If you're rich enough to afford $200/mo just to insure it, then you don't care if insurance companies which I invest in get a piece of that pie, or on the flip side, you're not bright enough to use that money for better purposes and you're stuck in a perpetual debt trap, living hand-to-mouth, and never being able to retire because you can't afford it. Either situation, I get rich because you don't care about my cut, or you're gonna slave the rest of your life to pay me off.

But like shitty pointed out, you having less money makes everyone that has more feel better about themselves. More power to you.

  5. Plz continue to post what and where you spend money. I'll be starting a Jst2fst index fund because with your financial savvy and priorities in life -- my partners and I will be making gobs of money off you.

  6. There was a 1.4GB AES256 encrypted file in the downloads section titled "Insurance". This file has been downloaded by millions of people. Julian Assange has stated several times that if anything happens to him, those with the encryption key will distribute it publicly, allowing anyone who downloaded to file to read the contents. Supposed whatever is inside is huge.

It's just a really high-res image of Goatse

:dunno: what the fuss is about.

  7. It wasn't really a flamefest until you put that title on the thread -- goading one.

Seems like a non-event, for now, unless there's more to the story? :dunno:

But from the "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it" files:

    Complete Bush Appointee Resignation Scorecard

    http://thedcshuffle.com/2009/02/11/complete-bush-appointee-resignation-scorecard/

I'm sure there are better more informative links, but that's all the effort I thought this discussion warranted at the moment.

  8. This thread http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=70824

    reminded me:

So this one time, I was doing this thing right?... and I was minding my own business, but could've been doing something that pissed someone else off -- I dunno, doesn't matter. All the judgments I make about my behavior are 100% the right call, all the time. It's my world, you all are just passing through it.

Anyway, this other person was totally upset with me for no reason as far as I could tell, because I was just chilling, doing my own thing. Since I'm never in the wrong, I decided to give him something to be mad about and pulled a total uncalled for dick move. Dude was SOOO pissed and I was all    and :D right in his face when he looked at me. Ohh man, so :mad::mad: that guy was.

Pwned that tool!! I would've told you guys about it sooner, but I know there are SOME people on here that don't think what I did was the right thing and maybe some of my prior actions could've lead up to this douche getting what he deserved -- but they are wrong, and I really didn't want to have to explain myself to them because they're losers too, like that guy, and just don't 'get it'.

    /fiction

Srsly though -- I love the different perspectives on ORDN. Just because they make you look at how your behavior or train of thought is interpreted by others' -- maybe step back and think about it a little bit.

This post wasn't directed at Swing'R or meant to mock him specifically, he's just the latest one that posted a thread about something that happened and how he handled it. There are TONS of other examples on here and the majority of the time there's counter-perspective that bubbles it's way to the top.

Thanks for entertaining me ORDN

  9. Supporting shady grassroots charities that spoiling the Komen Bureaucracy of goodness? For shame, Casper.

Those grassroots people could be your neighbors, or local people who actually lost one of their family members to cancer -- wtf do they possibly know about charity and money (they probably don't even have any)?

Trust the organization with guys in suits and lawyers. If they can afford a suit, then you KNOW they know the right thing do with money.

  10. I had no idea Jesus had Hep A.

    http://www.webmd.com/hepatitis/hepa-guide/hepatitis-a-cause

In the U.S., HAV is spread mainly among people who have close contact with someone who has the virus. You can become infected with HAV if you:

    • Eat food prepared by someone who does not wash his or her hands well after using the bathroom or changing a diaper.
    • Don't wash your hands after changing a diaper.
    • Eat raw or undercooked shellfish that was harvested from waters contaminated with raw sewage.
    • Are a man and have sex with men.

I know hygiene standards weren't exactly up-to-snuff back in the day, but most people know to stay away from raw sewage -- so, and I'm not saying it's true, but we should investigate ALL the causes above.

  11. Ohio Sheriffs Beat, Repeatedly Taser Diabetic Man

This video shows Hamilton County, Ohio sheriff's deputies beating and repeatedly tasering a 52-year-old diabetic suffering a low blood-sugar attack. A highway patrolman pulled the deputies off the man, but not before they dislocated his shoulder and elbow.

John Harmon, an African-American small business owner in the mostly white Anderson Township, was driving home when his blood sugar dropped to a dangerous level. He weaved into another lane and was spotted by a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy, who assumed Harmon was drunk.

They smashed Harmon's window, cut him out of his seatbelt, threw him to the ground and tasered him repeatedly. A highway patrol trooper arrived and intervened, later reporting the incident to his commanders. Even after learning of Harmon's medical condition the deputies filed charges against him.

After seeing the video above, which is mostly the sound of the incident with few visuals, the officers involved were suspended without pay for a short time and then reassigned to a different part of the county. Harmon is currently suing the sheriff's office and the deputies involved. [Cincinnati Enquirer via AutoBlog]

    Video in the link.

  12. I'm going to turn this into a "WTF is the deal with rep" if this "You must pass it around" BS isn't lifted.

I would pass it around if more than the few people I give it to really deserved it, dammit. The one thread I can legitimately call Chevy a dirty whore and I have to do it publicly. :nono:
