Your mom does not belong on a bike. Some people 'get it' and some people don't. My girlfriend was like your mom. (nothing meant by that). She doesn't have the confidence, hand-eye coordination, and reflexes necessary to be competent on two wheels. It is NOT for the kind of people that are scatterbrained or lack focus. It would be dangerous to her and others if you let her on two wheels. She gave it the ol' college try and just leave it at that. I'd focus on turning the wife into a great rider before she develops bad habits.

Don't pay it. It's a civil infraction... not a criminal one. They can't do anything to your license. Worst case, it ends up at a bill collector and they try to brow beat you into paying it - don't. I'm not sure if it ends up on your credit report, but I doubt it. Read up on the laws. These cameras are bullshit and cities need to realize they WON'T generate income if people stop paying them...

I think if it hasn't been titled in over 20 years... you can get a title for it by applying for one. I am not a lawyer.

Out of the Japanese four Fav: Suzuki Why?: Performance Least Fav: Yamaha Why?: Performance, best looking bikes of the four gorgeous bikes, but it ain't a beauty contest. Really though, I put Suzuki on par with Honda or Kawi, but Suzuki is just my brand preference because more often than not, their machine is always #1 or #2 in the comparos for performance. Honda is leading the pack now, so I think the CBR1000RR would be my 'go to' bike if I had money to burn tomorrow. But, Suzuki has always been good at answering the call putting performance #1 on their priority list. It's really an unfair question to grossly over-simplify the pros/cons of each brand in choosing ONE. . But if I HAD to rank the Japanese brands based on my personal preference: Suzuki, Honda, Kawi......... then far in 4th - Yamaha. The top 3 are almost interchangeable.

You can lock it up. It left for Pittsburgh yesterday -- much to my dismay.
