  1. I'm all for seeing who has the best "driver ability" but I thought F1 was supposed to be the epitome of racing technology? It was the only sport that was damn near perfect given all the electronic controls in the cars from the FI systems, to the ECUs, to the Traction Control and ABS-type gizmos. I mean, it was a sport for engineers to shine along with the drivers. Of course, that's just my humble opinion. I don't watch enough F1 and know a lot about it.

But to relate to my drag racing experience, it's like Pro Stock. Its pretty stupid that they still make those guys run carbs and don't allow traction control. Instead of turning 6.70's, I would bet Ol' Warren Johnson with a 500ci Fuel injected pro stock would be turning 6.20's-6.30s all day if not quicker. Some of these sanctioning bodies need to embrace the technology rather than shun it. Eventually a lot of this stuff makes it to our daily drivers and I'd much rather have them performance testing it under the harshest conditions than in some spec lab. Trial by fire!

I'll get down from my soapbox now. Sorry guys.

  2. Vector you live in Apple Valley. what street you live on?

Apple Valley... the Apple Valley with the beaches and indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the like? My parents used to own a lot down there (they still might). That was always a fun place to go as a kid.

  3. Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand.

    ~Karl Marx

Religion is the opium of the masses.

    ~Karl Marx

All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason. ~Immanuel Kant

Faith means intense, usually confident, belief that is not based on evidence sufficient to command assent from every reasonable person.

    ~Walter Kaufmann

  4. Cool man. Thanks for the good wishes. Glad to see another Hurricane rider before they pussied out and started calling them CBR1000s. That is one of the nice features of these 20yr old machines... you don't see others around. Definitely unique. I'd keep it too if I didn't need the space for the g/fs bike and my 'Busa.

No mods other than the pipes and gradually replacing panels off eBay (basically everything I've said in the ad).

$1900, anyone? Plus I'll shovel the 14" of snow off my driveway so you can pick it up :D

  5. I hate the "left wing" "right wing" democratic..republican..blah blah..titles.

I was doing my best to communicate my idea without tacking a 'label' to you. Non-right wing was the best I could come up with. I didn't want to accuse you of being liberal or a Democrat. Because as you pointed out, it's about beliefs and research to support your beliefs, and I'm sure neither of the two-party candidates backs anyones' beliefs 100%.

  6. Also not a huge GB fan, but at least he's right about considering all viewpoints no matter how crazy; makes you EDUCATED, not a lunatic.

Interesting side fact, which in all honesty, I haven't dug in to confirm - but I'm taking a finance class right now as part of my graduate studies. My prof has an engineering undergrad, and graduate degrees (including a PhD) in economics. So, he seems like a reputable fella. Anyway -- one of the notes I took regarding the economy was that since WWII, the Treasury Yield Curve was a leading indicator of a recession (Typically 6-9 months). If the Yield Curve is inverted, then a recession is likely to occur. So, if you look back around July of last year... it was inverted for the short term. And thus, here we are today.

  7. Grammar lesson for the day:

Did you know "motorcycle" is one word? Thus, the "C" shouldn't be capitalized.

The grammar police strike again... It's cool though, I got busted yesterday for overlooking some capitalization. The devil (or I guess Satan - in this case) is always in the details. :p

I'm just a little disappointed he didn't mention anything about Ace HardEware in that thread.

  8. These pics are pretty funny. (My favorite so far is "Bitch, I will cut you...")

But, I mean, I just checked your link to the CNN site, and education level is pretty much split (within the margin of error basically) up until you get into Post-Graduate studies -- which voted for Kerry. The supposed upper echelon of the educated vote Democrat. That was my point. They don't just hand out graduate degrees to everyone (or everyone would have one). Yea, I'm sure a few are idiots, but you do have to put some clout in how the "smart people" vote. Just like you put some clout in how a financial manager spends his own money.

Like I said in my other post, I've got a sense of humor, and this stuff is all pretty funny, but most people on here seem to be very right-wing. I'm just trying to balance it out. My hope is that the people on here don't actually believe in all this political bullshit we debate and actually have their own informed opinions supported by facts about issues and vote accordingly - that's all I ask. There's just SO much slamming the of the leftists, we need some people to start bashing the right-wingnuts too.

Some key things to look at:

    vote by income

    vote by education

I can post pics too, see?

Yes, my mistake on not capitalizing Democrat -- that was an oversight. I'll go back and correct it.

But, your fallacy is that I'm a Democrat. Anti-Republican, maybe... but in general, I'm in the "Anti-Dumbass" party. Problem is, we're in a two-party system (which is a whole different debate on how broken and illogical that is), but in order to have ANY meaningful impact you have to vote between the Republicans and Democrats. Neither party represents my views fully, so I'm forced to chose between the one that comes closest on most of the issues I care about.

Like Fusion said -- there's too many stupid people for Libertarianism to work.
