  1. im a selective squid. I always always always have my helmet, gloves, shift jeans and a* boots on. 90% of the time I'll wear either my textile, leather or mesh jacket depending on the weather. And sometimes like yesterday I went with no jacket because I was riding with slow people and wasn't doing anything crazy. Fun rides I always have a jacket though

You only wear gear because even strippers are observant enough to notice a helmet.

  2. Watch out, JRM will stab a mother fucker that makes fun of his bread.

And every time you look in the mirror at that scar on the side of your face, you'll remember.

I was pretty passionate about Beembo (phonetical spelling) until Wallyworld raised the price to $1.92/loaf, which makes it as expensive as the 35 cals/slice Nickel bakery bread I used to buy before Bimbo. I only switched because Wallyworld raised the price on the Nickel bread.

So, now it's a wash and I tend to defer back to Nickel because it's only 35 cals/slice vs. 60 cals/slice for Bimbo.

  3. I dunno about the 600s. I keep the busa about 4000-4500, just below the threshold where the power really kicks in, and high enough to get the bike rolling w/o bogging at the rate I normally release the clutch.

Then roll on the throttle at launch while I let off the clutch at a rate you can only gauge being on the bike. It's practice, I know what it feels like if I'm too quick releasing the clutch--

*it'll bog because I didn't have enough throttle and let the RPMs drop

*it'll spin the tire because I didn't put enough heat in it or picked a bad launch spot on the track, or

*it'll snap up into a wheelie, instead of just carrying the tire like a plane taking off and landing again which is what a good launch will feel like on the busa.

The only way you figure out what a good launch is, is by checking your 60' times and remembering how it felt. If you're too slow releasing the clutch lever, you'll take off, it'll just be slow and affect your 60' time.

On your 600... I'm guessing you'll probably want to start the launch in the 6500-7000 RPM range and start tweaking from there. But, I've never been on a 600, so I don't know where the engine feels the happiest... it's usually a little less than half the redline as my rule of thumb. Assuming it's not a drag bike with a 2step / RPM chip and extended wheelbase/wheelie bars. Those are different animals.

  4. the State will not accept an informal arrangement between the parents. They want it enforced by court order to protect the child should things change.

How does the state even find out about such relationships? They don't seek out kids and verify their parents are married. Something must've tipped them off -- probably when the 'gov't assistance' forms were filled out, right? :dunno:

I would suspect that the income level of the parents is low enough that the child qualifies for state insurance. It is actually paid for with federal tax dollars but each state runs it and getting children on it is pretty easy to do.

Not possible, dude used to have an r6, he's rolling in cash money.

  5. might in this case means, my calendar is empty and as long as nothing closer and more exciting comes up and the weather is nice and nothing mechanically or financially fails for me, i will be there....

Which is another way of saying, not gonna make it. And the last thing you're gonna wanna do it pull a gen3, peoples' faces can't take much more punishment.

  6. I'd love to spec an SSD, but I'll upgrade later when the costs come down.

I mean, with the one I setup, it's 1TB included (single drive)... and I can take like $22 off if I go down to a 500GB, or for an additional $4, I can get a 30GB SSD. I need more than 30GB and I need a system I can use right out of the box, not one where I spend all this coin, only to go out to amazon, tigerdirect, or newegg and get additional HDs for more $$$$

  7. Whatcha lookin' to do with this machine, any gaming? If not, you should be fine.

If it were me, I'd skip the water cooling and go with good old-fashioned fans. I just don't trust water inside a case filled with electronics. Again, that's me. Nevermind, looks like Cyberpower only offers watercooled machines... :dunno:

I'd add more/redundant drives unless you have some other way of backing up your data.

If you already have a keyboard, great, otherwise I'd recommend hitting the MicroCenter to try some different brands/models.

I'm leery about the water-cooling too, but it's sealed from the factory, so I'll give it a try until it fails, then if I need to go the fan/heat pipe route I will.

I still don't have a storage solution. :( I'm too cheap to get or build a NAS with RAID1 or RAID5.

I comes w/ a keyboard and mouse. My old keyboard is a PS/2 connection so it's likely I'll need a new one anyway. I don't need anything fancy.

What are you planning on using said system for? Surfing the net and checking email? Video editing? Hardcore gaming? For an average user that seems like a bit of over kill.

The vast majority of my old PC is relegated to e-mail and web surfing only because that's all it's capable of doing, it takes approx 60% of my resources just to run firefox. I used to do a bunch of things -- gaming, video editing, photoshop, CAD, etc... but the ol' girl can't run any of the new stuff. Hell, I can't even watch videos on Youtube in 720p because it'll freeze.

I've got my XBox for gaming now, but I'd like to have something capable of running a game at decent resolution (1920x1200 / 1080p) if I so desire. I think the GTX 460 is the cheapest I can get and still accomplish that.

  8. I'll just post here instead of starting my own thread.

Want to pick the brain of the other IT nerds and those with geek-cred on here... some of you may've heard me complain about my 10yr old rig (2Ghz P4, 512MB, nVidia GeForce3) -- well, I'm about to bite the bullet for a new setup from cyberpowerpc.com

I'd like to build another that'll last 10+years, so I want an i7 core with a decent mid-upper video card (nVidia GTX 460 or better)

Anyone wanna shoot holes through this system?

I'm not a big fan of that case and considering switching the the Obsidian 700D (which has a $50 Mail in rebate, so the cost will wash out). I know others have said the onboard audio isn't the best solution (though it's gotten better in recent years) and I figure if I can't handle it I'll add a card later.

I'd also consider a laptop, but I figure tablets are the future... so I'll end up with a powerPC with a "dumb" client (tablet, shitty laptop) and use VNC to tap into the heavy-lifting rig.

    Thoughts?
