  1. http://www.10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2008/03/16/motorcyclist_killed.html?sid=102 Read and heed - the new season is upon us. Let's remember what we're up against. Looks like the rider fell off his bike and was hit by the truck..how do you just fall off the bike though? Somethin' don't sound right.
  2. Rode from delaware to Marion by way of 37, 4, 203, 739 and back. Really cold - but with all my gear not bad. Bike did good - no problems..picked up a 24oz Milwaukee Best Ice (5.9% ) and tested my new rapid transit tank bag which worked great. Passed one other rider - not quite sure what they were riding but had a full fairing/windshield...if you're on these boards WAAZZZUUUPP! I just want it to be warmer!!

i'll trade you for my '94 EX500...?? Comon....?? Seriously!! Nice bike dude!
  4. Excellent post. I've never done a track day, but I have no doubt that my street skills would be far better if I could get the time. Well, that and I crashed/sold my ZX7 and now I'm riding a EX500 Hey - all I know is that I feel comfortable on a bike again! I don't think I'm meant to enjoy a fire-breathing 750 - to tempting to push my personal envelope. At least for now
  5. Leg armor update: There is no hook/loop system...hoop/look system means velcro loop strap! haha! Well, these are loose enough that I'm going to have to sew a loop in the strap to shorten it a bit and fit snugly. Aside from this I feel that this armor is worth $25. I will now let this thread die (especially since it has degenerated into its current state! )
  6. I got the A* last night - here's a quick review of what I got: Nice package, they come in a little "ditty" bag and they aren't too big. The construction seems solid enough, although the straps are way too big for my legs. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to wrap the straps around twice or something - maybe. Also if the velcro that secures the armor gets on the actual strap it'll shred it nicely. Avoid this if you want them to last for any length of time. They fit my legs good from a form fitting perspective. They fit under jeans without printing or making me look like robo-cop. There are only 2 straps to secure the armor and they are both on the shin guard section - there is nothing to secure the knee/above the knee area to the leg. So what happens is that once you stand up and start walking the top/knee section is loose and will allow the armor to slide down your leg. The only other issue I have is that it seems pretty likely that the armor would move around in a crash - especially since the knee section isn't secured to the leg. I'm going to see if there's some way to put these on to properly secure them. So overall better than nothing and the price is right ($25+shipping). I'll probably be checking out the icon field armor to compare. EDIT: I was just looking at the prod description at bikebandit and it says there is a hook/loop system. I think I must have missed a loop or something. I'll check again when at home and post up what I find.
  7. Everything I've read about them is positive except the size - they say that if you don't have small calves they don't fit well at all. That's the main reason I went with the apline* - if they don't work out it's on $25. Then I can invest in something better. Seems like the best solution for on-the-go daily commuting.
  8. try this: http://www.daverancour.com/file.html tried to take his code, add to file and put on my web site - might work.
  9. I'm going to try out the apline* Reflex Knee guard. I'll post up how good they work.
  10. Nice ride man - I will get back to my V-Twin roots at some point. Very nice though!
  11. What's up dude? Is there a board you're NOT on?? Sell that 250 yet? I'd be surprised if you haven't.
  12. I need to get some leg armor to wear while commuting to/from work. I need to look normal when I get to the office so I'm thinking about getting the Alpinestars Bionic Knee guards for under the jeans/pants I wear for work. What do you all wear? Over-pants or armor?
  13. dude - I don't swing THAT way and I think those flames are freakin' killer!!
  14. Good Lord! Jeez - I can't imagine riding one of those!! NICE PICS!
  15. Checkin' in - been riding since '92, but had many years of no riding. I have about 7 years experience. Bikes I've owned: 1992 - I bought a 1989 Yamaha Virago 750 (first bike) 1997 - bought a 1996 Katana 750, stolen after 1 month! grrr! 2004 - bought a 2003 Kawasaki EX500 2007 - sold 500, bought a '98 ZX7 (wow!), but crashed Sept. 2nd. First crash. 2008 - sold crashed up ZX7, bought 1994 EX500, 21K miles great condition. Sold the 7 to downsize - It made me drunk with power. I can't ride it yet - just too tempting to push the envelope And that's where I stand right now - here's the bike when I got it, although right now its ripped apart as I am doing the valve adjustment today: See you all on the road!
