Earache

After the Reef, we're into the red rock area and heading past Lake Powell again. Loads of curves and no traffic so we bust out the video cams...

We're gonna be heading back east now. Rode through Capitol Reef National Park, checked out the ancient wall art... Some say that the figures look like space men from another planet. I can kinda see that.

We stop for the night at the Best Western in Torrey and see about 40 HD's parked outside. Most are flying Danish flags on the back. Talked to a bunch of guys and couple fromm Denmark that were staying here tonight. They had rented HD's in LAs Vegas and were touring around the southwest. It was funny the next morning when they all left at the same time - quite a rumble. Guys even had a breakdown / luggage hauling U-Haul driven by one of their non-biking friends....

Routes 89 and 12 have all sorts of non-sucky turns...

and we railed north towards Torrey...

I had planned on taking Mark to Bryce Canyon, but he was getting tired of all the long distance days and had seen enough rocks, so we skimmed past it...

There were rocks, so we just had to climb them...

Time to get off of the scoots and explore a bit...

Today's itinerary includes a ride through Zion National Park...

We are greeted by rain the next day and we're kinda glad to see it. The temps are much cooler as a cold front must have passed through last night...

Rolled into our hotel late. Hot, sweaty and tired so we had a beer at the place across the parking lot and bagged it for the day. Mark saw 106F today - a new personal high record that he isn't interested in breaking anytime soon.

Outta the Canyon and heading north now, into Utah and on to St. George... Dam at Lake Powell in Page, AZ...

Next morning, outside our room and there they were again. Taunting us and jeering at us for almost eating their relatives last night...

But we found a loaf of bread ,some turkey and cheese slices at the gas station and all was right with the World... busted out the Leatherman and had some sammiches in the room...

We hung out at the bar too long and missed the dinner hour. Everything was closed when we left. I figured we could wrestle one of these to the ground and have a bbq...

We stayed at one of the lodges in the Park this time. Headed out for dinner, but this was far as we got... Met an older couple from Australia at the bar and spent a couple of hours talking to them. Was the highlight of the Canyon portion of the trip.... maybe not for them, but I enjoyed it.

This was my third ride to the Canyon this year - I never get tired of it...

Buddhist monk was impressed with the place... As was Mark...
