Cool thing about Colorado is that the cops and locals don't hassle dirt bikes at all. My bike isn't exactly street legal - just has a headlight and a tail light and a worthless mirror - but cops don't give you a second look. Little towns liek having the additional tourist money, too.

Stopped for a bot at the Boreas Pass cabin - you can rent thos place to stay if you want. Clsoed for the season right now, but would be a cool place to spend the night and hang out....

Met my bud Phil (KLR650) for a ride. Thsi was a couple of weeks ago, just outside of Breckenridhe, Colroado....

One of the cool things about living out in the hills is that I can hop on the Mighty XR and just ride. No trailering or loading up the truck - just ride there....

Just spent a day around the relatives. Thankful I never had kids.

The two of you could just crash here then if you'd like. It's a nice house, not some shit hole. Plenty of room for you. Do some research and decide what animals you want to hunt and where the best places to hunt are. Might check with the Arapaho Forest Rangers for starters. There may be better places to go around here as well.... like I said, I have zero experience. Black Hawk is an old gold mining town with mostly historic buildings from that era comprising the town. It's really pretty cool. We live about 5 miles up the hill from Black Hawk in the Arapaho National Forest. I'm not sure about the hunting up here, but see hunters damn near every day and hear rifle shots all weekend long - so they're hunting something <gg>. There may be better hunting nearby - but I'm not aware of it as I'm, not much of a hunter myself. But loads of guys around here hunt elk and i could hook you up with some of them

Basecamp has cabins (and a liquor store) that a lot of hunter stay in : http://basecampco.com/site-types/cabins The town of Black Hawk is a gambling town with lots of casinos and hotels such as Ameristar and Lodge Casino, Grand Z Casino / Hotel and The Isle Hotel /Casino. Not sure if they want a bunch of hunters traipsing through their gambling floor with rifles or not, but ya can always just enter through the garage, too. I have an extra bedroom (two single beds) with bathroom and a private entrance if there's only one or two guys.

We've had three snows of 9"+ so far this year, but it has always melted within a few days. Still have some on the north, shady side of the house - but that's about it. Snow on September 30th pics....

For some reason, our driveway is a really popular place to hang out...

Any time - although I don't know how much longer the seasons are. Most of the deer here are Mule Deer - slightly bigger than white tail, big ears, dunno what other differences there are. Can't go a day without seeing them, either Some from the back porch...

Wish some hunter types would come to our house and rid it of some of our daily early morning visitors. These bastards wake us up every morning at about 5:00 AM. The backyard is like a freakin' zoo; deer, bears, bobcats, moose, elk, etc. At least most are quiet - unlike the turkeys....

Don;t know of one. But they're most Jeepers - you should be able to get through more difficult stuff than the average Jeep can. A Jeep with 30's, winch, big lift, etc should get through damned near anything. Keep in mind that a lot of these passes are really, really rocky. Not the best surface for beginner off roaders. Hard to stop and turn on. But take your time and go slow and you'll be fine. Bikes can run hot at elevation with slow speeds, so take time for the bikes to cool down. Have fun!

Most of the snow was north of I-70, so the southern portion of the COBDR shouyld be better.

We had a 30" snow here two weeks ago, (my house is at 10,000') Above 11,500' or so still has a lot of snow from that most recent storm. The roads are open now and most paved passes are open. Different story off road. Ya might wanna head for Utah <gg>. Couple of pics from this past weekend - taken at 11,000'.............

MIG with a Pulse setting and an aluminum spool gun and you're all set. Gonna cost ya though.

Do yourself a favor and hit Glacier National Park since you'll be so close. Dropping into Utah and Colorado would be a good move too - but ya might run out of time to do them.

I do 54 miles each way and don't mind it all that much. Good scenery anyway.
