  1. You looked pretty good Brandt. I think the biggest duh moment I had when the Buell instructors were talking was when they talked about dropping your head and shoulders to lead through the corner. It seems like everyone is getting off the bike with their butt, but dropping the shoulder and head in the corner is the part that takes a little more cognizance. When they had us standing there and putting pressure on our feet one side or the other then had us move our head and feel the difference it really clicked for me. I want to get our and ride some more. No less, looking through the pics it seems most of us could benefit from more of that.
  2. Haha, sounds like you are made to ride these bikes. I feel like they follow the horse jockey model.
  3. Yah' date=' Mike was looking fast. Like I said very interesting to see the wide variety of riders in the different classes. Funny I never though mike looked that big on his bike but maybe that's cause I'm 6'3" and 240lbs and ride a monster. [img']http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/vw151/monsterkneethunder.jpg
  4. So I was a spectator for a track day for the first time yesterday. This resulted in about 750 pictures and an interesting perspective on the way non-professionals ride. It's pretty amazing to watch the diverse spread of riders out there together. Especially the day after watching AMA racers go out and make it look easy. No less, here are about 50 pictures and a link to All of the pictures. Mostly pics of our guys. Steven, Mike, Rick, Dave, Todd and Brandt. Steven is on the pink Gixxer wearing blue leathers, Mike is on the black 1098 in black leathers (he is a virtual highlight reel), Rick on the black 749 in silver red leathers, Dave is unmistakable on the orange sport classic in the retro jacket, Todd is on the black ST3, and Brandt was harder to pick out on the black ZX10R with silver black leathers. It was very interesting to watch the 3 classes. Novice was like watching people on a sunday drive, specaled with people that seemed like they were fast but basically had to drop back in straights just to try an get some room to get corner speed. Intermediate is full of riders going sort of fast but not smooth, adjusting their line through the corner constantly, specaled with people who were fast. Advanced was unmistakably smoother than the other groups and faster but still mostly looked like they were walking compared to the AMA race the day before. Oh, and of course I can't leave out the buell sponsored instructors running stock buell 1125Rs. They mostly made all the fields look slow and did it in tandem. There are some good pics of them as well. They were teaching fundementals off track and illustrating them on track. They were fun to watch. This is the link to all of them, but I only see 576 images so I may need to see if they all uploaded. It may still be working http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/vw151/Ducati%20Revs%202009/ Rick entering the back straight Mike, coming out of the keyhole, first session early in the morning. Rick, Mike, some guy, one of the Buell instructors, then Brandt in turn 6. Rick coming out of 7 Mike, caught up in traffic coming into 7. Rick in 7 Rick in turn 8 And Rick under the Honda bridge and over the hill looking like a spider monkey. You guys think you get off the bike. Think again. brandt in 8 Rick in turn 1 I think this is entering thunder valley and of course it's Rick Mike saying hi when his session got red flagged (entering thunder valley) couple of Dave entering thunder valley Steven going into thunder valley Todd thunder valley entrance Rick again same place Mike and his guilty pleasure. and into thunder valley The Buell guys showing us how it's done in turn 8 Mike in 8 twice Brandt in 8, I saw his knee down there before but not for the camera. sorry brandt. Freaking Buell guys!!!! incredible. If you need a reference diagram on how you need to look in a corner. Just take notes Steven turn 8 Steven turn 7. Steven in 8 again. anyone notice those sweet new jordans? A-stars FTW! some guy seriously wadded his gixxer on the left before the carousel. Not one of our guys but the bike looked so bad it warranted some pics mike coming out of the carosel and into the front straight Mike in the carousel and the Buell guys again.
  5. $215 for 2 days. I may do this.

    negative rep

Haha, ped has huge neg rep. I got you whodey, neg it up
  7. I just started running a lap timer this year. I'm not fast but I'm getting there Mid-OH 1:54 (ducati monster s2r1000 in intermediate on Bridgestone bt002 street tires) this is the monster that day. Before I crashed. Barber 1:53 (2003 GSX-R750 in novice drying track on michelin pilot power 2CTs.) This is the GSXR at barber on the drying track. It was still not really in great shape that day. I had a buddies front end on the bike due to the messed up forks and the shock was still sprung really light for me. Unfortunately I didn't run a timer at Putnam the other day but it was slow. I'd like to get into the 1:40s at Mid-OH. Before I crashed at Mid-OH on my monster I felt that I was on my way.
  8. I went with a GSX-R750 for the track. I'd recomend looking through the classifieds on the WERA board to get an idea of what people are tracking. Also a good place to find a track bike (salvage title and maybe already with race parts).
  9. Sounds like you are faster at putnam than Mid-OH. 16s is real fast. 44s at Mid-OH is moderately fast. Both obviously faster than I have ran but I expected that. My friend Mike ran 1:21 at putnam but has run 1:41 at Mid-OH but that is on a 1098S. He knows Mid-OH better I think but really wanted 1:19s at putnam. Before I wrecked my s2r1000 at Mid-OH I did a 1:54, I really think I could have gotten into the low 1:50s or a 1:49 by the end of the weekend but you never know, I crashed NO less, that GSXR is much faster than my air cooled ducati so I hope I can run in the high 1:40s on it once I get comfortable on it at Mid-OH. Going fast is fun!!!!
  10. Dude, I borrowed a laptimer from a friend and never even hooked it up. I am so out of shape and stiff after my wreck at mid-oh a few months ago. I got out there and was pretty slow and honestly didn't want to know my times. The bike felt really good though. I am doing physical therapy now to get things in my shoulder and neck loosened up and getting back to working out. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can get to going fast again. I'd be happy if I could get into 1:40s at Mid-OH or 1:20s at putnam. What kind of times did you run at putnam on this bike? Just curious. I can tell it's capable of going very fast.
  11. Thats cool man. Those guys piss me off too and I know how you feel. Just would suck to turn him into hamburger cause he sucks at riding and decided to buy a liter bike to boot.
  12. Lizard, you are riding a fine line between being a cool dude calling out a squid and someone adding to the problem. "making him show you he's a good rider" sounds pretty dangerous to me. This is the typical mentality of all the idiots on the road that think they are the world police. Someone sees another passing on the right and generally drives like an ass so they speed up and tailgate the guy in front of them so the guy driving like an ass can't squeez in. Hmmmm, the dangerous situation on the highway just became even more dangerous. Just an example as there are many other ways this sort of things shows up. Driving on the highway is not a game and it's not our jobs to teach squids lessons. This is how people get hurt. I agree that this dude was a douche but I really wish people would stay calm and realize that 2 wrongs do not make a right.
  13. Yes, the bike I bought from Brandon was "track ready" Well it was missing some key bolts, the forks were pretty messed up (not bent though) and ended up needing a lot of love IMHO. Bike is also not titled or titleable but we won't get into that as it was an advertised fact of the bike. I was a little peaved at first because I really thought this bike was in better condition than it actually was. However, the bike was advertised also as a previously wrecked WERA raced bike and had an ohlins rear shock, penske fork internals, a full Ti akropovic exhaust, woodcraft rear sets and clip ons, vortex 520 chain and sprockets, galfer wave rotors, CF front fender and a strong motor. I have finally got this bike in good working order and am now pretty happy with it and for $2500 it was still a reasonable deal in my opinion. May not have been track ready by my standards but it was not an unfair deal. Besides, I could have turned around and drove home after looking at the bike that day as well. here it is last Sunday. It's looking and riding pretty good at this point. I only wish I could get it out on the street to get more comfortable on it as riding it is vastly different than my monster. I still feel that someone fronting the cash for a bike that is an excellent deal and then advertising it at a profitable price is not wrong. It's up to the consumer to decide with their dollars whether or not the deal is fair. I don't get the big deal.
  14. Todd. I remember you vehemently telling me in one of my threads that the price is the price and if I don't like it don't complain. Isn't this the same sort of thing. That was in the dviant image thread I posted. BTW.
  15. Where do I buy a GSX-R100? Sounds like a good starter bike. Dude sounds like a tool. That sucks.
  16. I finally uploaded all of the Bill Culp ride pictures. They are here http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/vw151/Bill%20Culp%20Ride/?albumview=grid or here http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/vw151/Bill%20Culp%20Ride/ If I get time this weekend I'll process some video.
  17. Got couple pics from Putnam last weekend. Was a good time. I'm really out of shape. The GSXR finally is pretty much perfect. Now I just need to get my self in good shape.
  18. Further, why does anyone care what this guy spends his money on. So he has a repsol and a 1098 and wants a track bike. If he can afford it who cares. This isn't a financial advice forum. He's here to talk about bikes. If I had nice and scary fast street bikes I wouldn't really want to track them either. If it was me, I'd sell the repsol and get ready to take it up the ass getting a track bike set up. No matter what you do its gonna cost a little money if you want to set up your track bike right so just prepare to not only spend some money but also develop and addiction to the track. However you'll find some satisfaction in actually using some of the potential of one of these bikes rather than riding it around on the street where you really just can't even experience what one of these bikes can do. Gixxie 750 is right, once you start doing this you probably won't ride on the street as much anyway.
  19. I don't know if I buy it. Schumacher's personal Ferrari FXX is on the show so he was obviously there to drive it. For them to actually employ Michael Scumacher as an anonymous race driver seems pretty unlikely. Either way, if he is in fact the stig then you can probably bet that those lap times are about as good as they are going to get. That guy is a God.
  20. That is a good point. No I didn't know him. He claimed to be an AMA racer with tires from last year. He had tons of them. They looked good in the pictures and the tires were pretty decent. Next year I may pick up a brand new set of supercorsa's but for now these are fine. Most of the people I've dealt with on the Wera forum have been pretty stand up people but I'm sure there are some bad apples as there are anywhere. Where on I-70 did you see me. We were stuck in a traffic jam in Dayton for 1.5 hours due to a beer truck that tipped over on the I-75 overpass dumping tons (literally) of cases of bud light onto I-70. Took for ever to get out to Indy.
  21. Thanks man. Yah I got take offs on the Wera Forum. Cheaper than new tires and it's not street legal anyway so might as well just run race tires.
  22. Front what? Forks? Tire? Forks are stock GSXR forks with penske internals and 1.0 springs Tire is pirelli supercorsa slick, Medium compound. Putnam was cool, I was stiff and generally slow relative to previous track days due to being way out of shape after breaking my collar bone but it was good to get back out on the track and ride. I need to get in the gym. I also just started physical therapy to work out the stiffness.
  23. Heading to Putnam today. First time back on the track since breaking my collar bone at Mid-OH back in April..... on my ducati... Only taking the Gixxer this time. Updates on the bike are 180 rear slick, carbon lorrain C44 brake pads and the suspension should be dialed in perfect at this point. Should be good to go. Pics to follow.
  24. This is funny. Why bitch and moan in his classified add. He paid $3500, is asking $6000k. Someone offer him $4000 and see if he comes back at $4500 or something. There is no reason to take any of this personally. You can always go down in price but you can't go up. I see the logic here. Whether the bike is actually worth $6000, who knows and who cares, if it isn't don't buy it from him. People get so emotional sometimes. BTW, my bikes..... all of them are for sale for 1 million dollars. Make offers! Oh, BTW gixxie. Collar bone is pretty much healed up. Your old 2003 750 is set up and I'm going to putnam this Sunday. Just thought I'd share. This is more or less what it looks like now
