  1. I don't think this is a repost. Saw it on some other forums. Pretty cool add. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXCy6vw0dkI&feature=player_embedded
  2. That area seems to be especially dangerous for bikes. I think that is near where Bill Culp died as well. Condolences to the family. No matter what the circumstances it's very tragic to see someone go like this.
  3. Fair enough. I got bored putting up straight track video, thought it made it interesting but was looking for response from the masses. I thought it was funny to interrupt the dude talking with some KMFDM as well.
  4. Haha, It has some good sound too, the sound of your old Gixxer, the sound of KMFDM and the sound of Kid rock among other things. It actually took some extra work to make the sound work. Not sure if it was Kid Rock or KMFDM but youtube was muting it due to copyright. I did some research and found that it won't get muted if you increase the tempo by 5% or more on the music. Did that and it works fine. I suppose this was more of a learning experiment for me on how things work, IE youtube, windowns moview maker and such. Add in some margaritas and a few beers and wala.
  5. no love? at least tell me it sucked if you didn't like it.
  6. I fixed the youtube problems. Enjoy!

PMs sent, I'll buy and pick it up when you are available. Just call me.
  8. OK, I'm not gonna lie. I had a lot of fun messing around with the simple Windows Movie Maker and by the time I was done I was drunk. OK you got me. Anyway, here is some more Barber footage in more of an ADD style. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4IuYEKYaqo http://www.csh.rit.edu/~parallax/

I got back and forth between like the wide angle and the other. ideally I'd have both. FOr the butt shot the wide angle is good and a lot of other weird angles, but we did some video where the camera was facing backwards at the guy following and it seems that unless you are totally up the camera's ass you are a very small spec in the video. It's just the nature of a wide angle lens, it's a compromise, like everything in photography.

This was shot with a wide angle if that helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx8lbb9HCjo
  11. I agree, but also feel that the fast food owner operator is ridiculous for calling the police. This is stupid on both sides. 1. Teenagers have no respect 2. People need to learn to let it go. The drive thru person "feared for their safety" come on.
  12. Got another video uploaded. It's me running in intermediate. Sorry if your Gixxer isn't going as fast as it used to Brandon, I was just glad to get out and finally drag some knee and get my confidence up after my shoulder injury earlier this year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx8lbb9HCjo
  13. Me and my buddies were just talking about how great it would be to have an RV for going to the track.
  14. If you are talking about the red and white yamaha. It's an R7. Yes that's right a 750 yamaha!
  15. I sorted through some pictures and put up the one's I like. Sorry if the page load is long but there is some cool shit in here. So..... favorites? The supermono is really cool. I actually thought the old school buells were really neat, the cushman scooters were unique. That Gilera 2 stroke with the single sided fork and swing arm was bad assed. For some reason though, I think the 2 stroke 499cc Bimoto might have been my favorite. That was a really cool bike and made me really curious about what it would be like to ride. I was also intrigued by the Yamaha R7. Basically Yamaha's version of the GSX-R750 but only 50 were imported to make it race legal. The super bad assed 1000cc MV agusta was also cool and well the Britten Goes with out saying. The CF body on the 1125RR buell was neat too. It was even cool to see the 50th anniversary R1 that came with Ohlins from the factory. There were rotary engined bikes, big touring bikes, old harley's, military bikes, a sort of tree of bikes that spanned 3 floors, some old F1 cars, drag racing bikes, old antique boat motors, race cars. There were tons of cool Ducatis as well but I suppose I'm spoiled as I actually know about and have seen many of those, honestly the supermono was the coolest ducati of them all. Overall though, the museum is amazing. I know it's been said a million times before but the way the bikes are displayed, the way the museum overlooks the track and the breadth of motorcycles from age to rarity to commonality to type was just amazing. There were more bikes I had never seen or heard of in there than I could even mention and for each of those there were tons of common bikes. Mr. Barber does not discriminate. He has represented. I'd gladly pay to go in there again when we go back in March. It was just cool to take a break and watch the advanced track riders out the window occassionally. Mike or steven, what was the AMA guy we were watching school everyone? He was crazy fast. 1:28.6 on the day we were in the museum apparently. Basically he was passing the other advanced guys like they were trucks on the highway. He was lapping them about 2 times per session. Anyway..... enjoy!
  16. Yep, I bet he takes away some valuable lessons. It's really interesting to watch the fast guys go around the track at a pace that the rest of us would crash in every corner at. And they can do it because their ability to be smooth and exersize those techiniques is so far above ours. At barber the National Guard rider was there on Saturday and he was amazing to watch against the other riders. He apparently turned a 128.6 for his fast lap of the day. Just night and day watching him go through a corner vs. the other guys.
  17. Yah, it's all about smoothness, the pros are amazing being able to use all that trick and just angry stuff and still be smooth.
  18. I think he fully accepts it was rider error but also feels he was pushing a little hard for the track temp. Not blaming the track temp for the error. What you didn't see in the video is that he actually went off track the lap before which could have contributed to cooling the tires. Again a problem due to rider error. I agree though, all of these things can be overcome with proper technique but it takes awhile to really master that stuff that is for sure. I'm not calling anyone out, I just think it's funny, I was waiting for people to start picking the video apart that's all. Earlier this summer there were some ex-AMA riders turned instructors at Mid-OH sponsored by buell and they made a lot of really good points about track riding, when and how to brake, and how to pick up the throttle. One of the interesting points they made was this stuff doesn't matter as much at a moderate lean angle but when you really pick up the pace and get going at close to race pace and the lean angle increases all of these things, namely smoothness, really can be the difference between going through the corner fast or ending up in the grass which is why it is important to learn before you go fast. In theory it all made tons of sense but when you get out on the track (even after about 7 track days for me) it's a lot more difficult to execute than it looks. I plan to keep working on it and trying to avoid what happened to mike but I'm sure I'll crash again on the track. It's inevitable right. All that aside I think mike's technique is pretty solid. He just made a mistake and may have been riding a little out of his league for the conditions. It's just like the instructor said, the finer points of the technique won't bite you until the conditions get more interesting. The perfect technique allows you to run fast on worn out tires, cold track and at a big lean angle, if your technique is flawed you can't go so fast unless the conditions are better. It all makes sense. Brian, I'm sure you have it down, didn't you used to ride AMA or something?
  19. I was wondering how long it would take before the critics came out in this thread. Too much trail brake, hmmm. could be. Mike said it came out with no warning at all, maybe that will help in the determining what might have caused it. Here's a cool pic
  20. Here are a couple more videos. Clearly Steven and I aren't as fast as mike but the gopro is still cool. This is me leading Steven http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1sOrkrWgL8 This one is Steven's ass! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yopvGJV9j-E BTW.... gixxie750, I'm really starting to like that bike now. I had a lot of fun and finally got back in the swing of things, I just wish it wasn't October because I want to ride more now that my shoulder is better.
  21. Just for reference Here are some pics of mike at Mid-OH in the keyhole and then in turn 8, which is the same place I took the pics of Matt. That wide angle lens on the gopro distorts things so it's hard to say what his riding position looks like. keyhole turn 8 He gets off more than Matt but not as much as some others. I dunno, like I said, if it works for him then great.
