  1. You know, it's funny you say that. I'm 6'3" and 240lbs. In general day to day activities I don't walk around thinking hey I'm really big. I ride my ducati and don't think hey I'm really big. But then I see this picture of me and my buddies who are all fairly normal sized and I'm like damn man, I'm really big. WTF!?!?!?! BTW, checkout http://www.stripmine.org/muskie1.htm and http://www.little-mountain.com/bigmuskie/pics.html It has the history and pictures and even pics of them getting that shovel up to the site it sits at now.
  2. Yah, I think Mike is liking his monster for the street.
  3. I got out riding Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Visited the lovely towns of Nelsonville, Glouster, Athens, Mconnolsville, Somerset, Chauncy, Zanesville, Granville, Junction City, Newark, Thurston to name a few. Some of the towns I was lucky enough to see on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday got out riding with a friend. Sunday some of us Desmo guys met up with this buell ride, rode down to nelsonville with some harleys and goldwings BMWs and buells then broke off and did our own thing. Here are some pictures.
  4. I got 5+5 so 10 total. I am not sure how many we are going to try and snag but if we have room I'm sure you can slot in. I think we'll bring generators and pop ups too just in case.
  5. Alright, I'll keep an eye out for you. Maybe I'll ride one of the later sessions with you. I gotta get out there and make sure I am not freaking out. At putnam I was still a little spooked, but also very stiff. I'm feeling better now and I know mid OH so it should be a better experience. Just need to work the cobwebs out.
  6. It will be there. It'll also be at Barber October 26th. I have seen your bike up at Mid-OH 2 or 3 times this summer but couldn't track you down. 1 or 2 times my buddies were riding but I wasn't then I also saw you riding at that big race weekend. We were up there watching Matt Carr in the twin classes. So I saw you riding on the track during those times and even saw the bike by your assfaultjunkies set up but you were off somewhere doing something. I'll try and find you again this time. I didn't get to the track as much as I would have liked this year since I crashed my ducati at Mid-OH in april and broke my clavicle. This will be my first time back at Mid-OH. I rode at putnam 1 time since the crash on the GSXR. If you are instructing all be riding in the intermediate class. We should ride together some, maybe you can show me some stuff. I'm still getting used to the 4 cylinder. You can find me on the bike looking like this. Hopefully we can grab a garage.
  7. Sorry Nick, I wish I would have had your phone number. I've got it now though so you'll go on the emergency free track day call list next time something like this comes up. we got 5 in over at desmohio with 5 guests.
  8. Is that a nascar track with a road course in the infield?
  9. Word on the street is. This is full now. This really made my week. I can't believe I'm gonna get to go ride Mid-OH 1 more time for free and I get to bring a friend for free and my other friends that signed up get to go and bring their friends for free. Did I mention that this is free. People of Mid Ohio, thank you, you guys rule, love you long time.
  10. You could go from the free track day to the concert. Cleveland isn't too far from Mid-OH
  11. I signed up. I rode 2 days in april!!!!!
  12. I'm sure she's not an idiot and I'm sure she could handle click the firefox icon and surf and some other stuff but when all of the sudden she needs a vpn client for work or wants to use skype or decides maybe she wants itunes or any of that stuff to have to reboot and switch to windows so you can use normal day to day apps is silly in my opinion. Yes if she was married to you and could say hey man make this work every time she had a new computer need then it would work fine but to send her on her way with a linux machine in hopes that she doesn't need any more functionality than what is built in is kinda ridiculous. I understand you and everyone else's love for the operating system. It's open source, free and works really well and also happens to have the fact that it's a small slice of the installed workstations going for it so it doesn't get "infected" with as much malware as Windows but overall it's just not going to serve her needs like a standard windows or mac computer would that has industry support for simple things. Sure dual booting offers a solution, but if she is gonna have to switch to windows to do day to day stuff anyway, why make it so complicated. Just have her run windows to begin with.
  13. Interesting isn't the first word that comes to mind for me. how old are you?
  14. I was originally signed up for this even in April. I refuse to sign up for a blue grass event until I hear that a track day has actually run there. It seems all summer long this has been the story. Sign up and then a few weeks before, nope won't be ready.
  15. Grew up in Kettering OH Lived in Dayton a little Moved to Columbus a few years ago. Moved back to Dayton, Then back to Columbus. Now I own a house here. yay!!!!
  16. I saw this thread the other day and just now got the mental bandwidth together to open the thread. I read the first 3 pages and page 12 and 13 and it's exactly like I figured it would be. This is like discussing politics or religion. I own a MAC mini and a bunch of PCs and have run Linux for some proprietary applications (mythTV in particular). I also work on Cisco Switches for a living. So...you could say I'm one of the tech nerds. No less, I think the question is more a matter of how much you want to spend. With out seeing your current laptop I'd still be willing to bet that the cheapest new PC laptop would still be a huge improvement. However, if you've got cash to burn and you're into shiney things. The MAC may be a little more friendly to your type of computing. That and they are very fashionable. I won't lie, I bought my Mac mini partly because I thought the form factor was so cool. Either way, you're going to pay substantially more for a MAC of equal "performance" to a PC. (the girl that told you she likes her MACs performance doesn't have a clue either BTW) Since Macs have gone to intel processors it's pretty easy to make an apples to apples comparison of the hardware you are buying. IE CPU type and speed, memory, hard drive and so on. You may not know what they are but in most cases more speed or size is better. I do agree that the Macs are usually of better construction but not to the point where you really run into reliability issues with your Dell or HP. If you get a PC just stick to a major brand that is cheapest for the best components. So to recap a little of what's been said Mac - expensive but user friendly and new and cool looking OS and actual computer PC - cheaper but familiar Linux - seriously? Lastly, whoever suggested linux.... you're out of your mind. Just my personal opinion. Yah, linux is easier to use than it used to be, but to say hey girl that says she is clueless why don't you dual boot linux and Windows so you can see how awesome linux is. Come on, just because linux is your religion doesn't mean it's for her.
  17. I just caught a quick look at it last night and one of my buddies that saw you come in said " hey did you see that riced out 999 that just pulled in" LOL Once I got a closer look I realized it wasn't a duc at all. That tail section is pretty unique to the 999/749s though so it throws you off pretty quick. Either way, after looking at the pictures, that is a really cool 1 off design. Nice work. You got any more detailed pictures of the transformation.
  18. I found it http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=31676 Thanks, yah, it's certainly not a clone but takes a lot of ques from ducati.
  19. well sure guys. I know some people don't like the 999 and others are going to say why bother making a gixxer look like it. I agree. 999s aren't that expensive it would probably be cheaper to buy one. I was just asking about it because this was interesting. It wasn't an exact replica it just had the tail and a strange front fairing and lights and at least in the dark it looked pretty well done. It's something different, let's focus on that. BTW, who's got pics? The owner of the bike must be on this site.
  20. well, the headlights aren't stacked but its still sort of that style light and the tail and exhaust cover and gauge cluster looks like it was pulled directly off a 999. The tail actually says ducati on it.
  21. Did anyone else at least see this bike. It was parked over by the stage.
  22. So, I was somewhat baffled last night when I saw something that looked like a 999 from a distance. It was black with a 999 style headlight setup. What looked like an actual 999 tail and the 999 cartridge style exhaust and even what looked like an actual 999 gauge cluster. However the center of the bike was fat like a 4 cylinder. I'm thinking gixxer. The wheels were also 3 spokes that look like my gixxer wheels. This was definitely a japanese sport bike but had a lot of strange body work that made it pass as a ducati 999 from a distance. It kind of reminded me of one of those fiero ferrari conversions. It also had a lot of chinese/japanese charachters on it. It was dark and I didn't get a close look at it until I was about to leave. Sorry no pics. Anyway, who's is it? what is it? Can I see pics and here the story behind it.
  23. I too would like to know who the winner is. Don't they pick tommorow?
