  1. so i few of you might know (well actually just two of you) that i have had trouble with shifting my bike. meaning it has false neutrals or wont go into first/second or once i do get it into gear it pops into neutral on its own etc... majore PITA. i posted this problem on the yamaha forum and most if not all replied with it being the detent spring (spring that helps return the lever to normal position after the gear change has taken place).

well without actually opening up the shift case i just assumed detent spring and ordered a new one along with a gasket and some other misc parts etc.

so today i opened it just to make sure that was really the case, but to my sadness i did not find a detent spring sitting on the bottom of the case housing, but rather a small metal chip about the size of a fingernail. looked around to find what it was from and nothing from the inside of the housing, so i looked at the cover i took off with the shaft still attached along with the arm thingy(?) and there it was, i found where it used to be located. went to mrcycles and found the part to be around 44 bucks. But i am desperate need to get my bike running sooon, so i called the local dealer and am going to see if i can get it overnight ::crossing fingers::

here are the pics of the cover i took off with the shift shaft assembly still on:

the arrow indicated where the piece im holding (the piece found at the bottom of the housing) is supposed to go.

this is zoomed out a bit. the piece circled is not supposed to be stopped by the metal piece but since that metal part is broken off it can spin freely. and this is what is causing my shifting problems.

i am 99% sure of it this time. but now at least i have a spare detent spring in case this one goes bad :shrug

anyone disagree with me or is this a pretty good guess that this is what is causing all my problems?

  2. So speaking of track days. Is anyone going on a track day AFTER June 8th. That's when I graduate and have NO time on w/e's until then. I have a trailer hitch on my SUV and I think I'm gonna take Yota's advice and just rent a trailor for my first time out to see if I really like it. If I do then I'll get me an enclosed trailor. Anyhoo, if anyone is going up to one of STT track days please let me know so I can tag along. There is only one other female (that I know) that does track days and I've asked her several times to go with me but it consistently falls on deaf ears. Thus, I will do the usual and tag along with the boys IF anyone will have me. lol. If anyone has any dates set up...Just shoot me a PM.....

where do you go to school?

i, like yourself, cant do trackdays until after that same date (i have a feeling we both go to OSU...) but id be willing to tag along with anyone, i dont really have a car or anything like that to take my bike to a track.

i plan on going with sportbike tracktime sometime after june maybe july. how many bikes can a "rent-a-trailer" hold?

  3. looking to ride down this coming weekend (May 10th) either saturday or sunday, whatever the weather dictates...

anyone who wants to go feel free to put in route ideas.

    preliminary thoughts:

33 down to the general area

    route 374, 180, 664, 56, and maybe some others...

i have a friend thats parents live in the area so i will be giving them a call sometime this week to find out what the good roads are.

ill be posting this on some other forums as well so hopefully we can get a decent turnout

  4. not meant to be rude in any manner just getting an idea of pricing can you beat this?:

    http://tripageled.com/main.html

click on products, then your choice of manufacturer and scroll down to find powder coat pricing.

you ship the part to them and they powder it and return it.

just to give a ballpark of pricing for those too lazy to look:

    $25 - Rearsets

    $15 - Gas cap

    $15 - Levers

    $15 - Sprockets (front and rear)pixel.gif

    $40 - Exhaust can (single)

    $60 - Exhaust can (double)

$40 - Exhaust mid pipe Done in HI-TEMP black

    $35 - Brake calipers (assembled)

$20 - Brake calipers (disassembled, pots and seals removed)

$50 - Case covers (both). Seal will be replaced by us.

$25 - Passenger pegs (must be done prior to led install, oven will melt them!)

$15 - Upper triple tree (Honda logo sticker will be removed)

$125 - Swingarm (chain adjusters and axle will not be done)

ok well that is almost everything they do... anyways prices include the return cost of S/H

  5. a dial gauge will tell you if there is fluctuations in your rotor.

a good rotor wont have any fluctuation. so if you put your rotors through a dial guage and everything is all good then you know that is not your problem...

  6. simple green worked for the browing on my bike.

also is there a place that i can do a dyno run to get some starting numbers? anyone know of another dyno day coming up? would the guy who sponsored it be able to do a run or two for a member cheap? or some contact information (phone number, address, etc) would be great as well

looking to start engine modding as that is the only thing left to dive into...

  7. i told my mom that i would get all the gear BEFORE i bought the bike and took the MSF course BEFORE i bought the bike. and when i finally bought the bike i made her follow me around to places to get her used to me being on a bike... she still will worry like any mom does but she seems more at ease about it now after some time.

an added bonus is that she buys all my safety gear because she doesn't want me riding without it... i picked it and as long as she was down with the price she chipped in... she even helped pay for my full suit...maybe im a momma's boy but who wouldn't turn down the opportunity for freeish gear?

  8. what time did you drop by?

i do indeed have a full cover for it! it just hasn't been washed in a while so i figured that it could use a good washing from the rain the other night lol. i generally always cover it but its been dirty for a while now because of all the traveling i have been doing.

i will definitely keep an eye out. too bad that the only real good roads are south near hocking. anyone know of any good roads here? the one i go to here is mills rd. straight up 315 left on home rd and right on the road right after the bridge and your there. pretty much the only thing i got right now any better suggestions in the area?

do we have a place on the board that we can post where we found good roads to ride? and maybe put conditions of the road such as pavement, traffic, cop activity, etc...

  9. hahaha. There are hundreds in columbus. This is like saying the mcdonalds on high and woodruff or is there another mcdonalds. Not trying to bust testicles or anything. I just thought it was funny.

lol dont you know everything revolves around campus!?! yea i was a little out of it when i wrote that (too many midterms to study for in one night)... i just assumed it was the one on high st because when i was driving around there were a bunch of bikes sitting in the corner just waiting around
