So you self-diagnosed? Do you have a Psychiatric degree? Do you think that some drugs might help you to concentrate on things you might otherwise be disinterested? it's kinda like saying "no I don't have cancer, just some of my cells continue to grow out of control sometimes"

feel free to grab it... I've lived in a home with a person who has bipolar disorder for many years. It's difficult for them to control their moods, and for no reason at all their outlook will go from happy to inexplicably angry or devastatingly sad. The medicines this person takes helps to control these shifts so that they are less severe and less frequent. As a child, I couldn't understand what made this person angry at me one moment, then exuberant and happy the next. As time went on, I came to realize it was an internal conflict, not anything I had done to cause them to act towards me the way that they did. Now this person has reasonable control over their emotions, thanks to some medication, and some mood management techniques. They still have the disorder, and they struggle with it daily, but it's managed. The reason I would classify it as an "emotional" disorder more than a "mental" disorder is because this person has full control of their faculties, are aware of reality, and have no hallucinations or breaks with the physical world, the only thing that seems to be affected is their mood, or emotional state regardless of the situation they happen to be in at the time... Now this person is affected by the events of the world, some things make them mad, some things make them sad, some things make them happy, but sometimes one or more of those emotions will overwhelm this person without any outside stimulus to cause it.

and people who misbehave or don't learn as quickly have "autism" just because you aren't affected by a disorder, or just because it may be overdiagnosed in some circumstances doesn't make it any less real of a condition...

the problem with that thread (which I did read) is that he starts off denouncing all the hyperbole, then starts into a long rant just soaked with the stuff...
-
Tim, dude... it's not about "strength", it's a chemical imbalance in the brain.
-
Bipolar is an emotional disorder...not so much a mental illness.

How did you "obliterate" it if it didn't get under one of your tires?

Had a bee bounce off my sunglasses and start crawling around my ear inside my helmet. upon quick pull-over and inspection, when he hit his stinger and tail end broke off on the rim of my glasses, so he was mad, but unable to do anything about it. Had a squirrel run out in front of me, had enough time to consider options: straight, left or right. left to go in front of him, right to go behind him, or straight to head straight for him. I went straight, figured it was safer for me to keep the bike upright, and he'd live if he made a decision quick enough, continue forward or turn back. he turned back. Had a real close call with a turkey or turkey vulture last year. I was cranking the throttle pretty hard on my way home, and it starts flapping across the road just up ahead, I had enough time to duck, so I put the helmet to tank and felt a hard "CRACK" on the top of my helmet, must not have had enough height when I got to it and hit the legs. Glad I was wearing a helmet that day, would have been a real bad headache otherwise...

No, most knives are NOT designed to kill, most knives are designed as "tools"... there are a few exceptions, some knives are designed as "weapons". A tool's primary use is as a tool, some tools can be used as weapons, but generally when used, are used as tools. Weapons are designed as weapons, some can be used as tools (even though there is a tool already designed for such a purpose that work better than the weapon), but generally when used are used as weapons.
-
Are there exceptions? Of course. Some people who shoot guns never intend to kill anyone or anything. Some people who buy ferrari's never intend to go faster than 55 mph, some people who buy hummers never take them off of paved and groomed roads, some people who buy snowmobiles never ride them in temperatuers below 60 degrees.... These rare and unusual instances don't negate the fact that ferraris are designed to go fast, hummers are designed to go offroad, and snowmobiles are designed and built for traveling on frozen water... and most of the people purchasing them do intend to use them for their designed purpose.

Translation: the world is big and scary, and everyone is out to kill me, that's why... Sorry you feel that way. Sorry your world is so perilous, mine isn't... maybe you need to live somewhere safer? Also, what are you doing to these people that makes them want to kill you so badly?

It's fixed, and the weekend is over... And clearly someone is interested or it wouldn't be a 3 page thread...
-
Turns out I'm pretty good at fixing mustangs on the weekends...

What are you doing at a range? Honing your skills, practicing so you can be more deadly accurate with your weapon of choice.
-
Tools have real world utility...
-
People with hammers usually intend to construct a building, people with ball bats are generally intent on winning a baseball game, people in cars are generally intent on getting home, people with guns are generally intent on mortally wounding someone.
-
I wouldn't say I'm particularly courageous, just not so piss scared of the world that I have to constantly carry a deadly weapon on my person at all times.
-
People with guns...
-
Risk your own health and safety all you wish, when your actions put me at risk is when I have an issue. I'd rather not be hit by a stray bullet cause you don't have the courage to face the world as you are. Now some situation makes you jumpy, you pull out your courage replacement device and everyone on the business end of it is in serious physical danger.
-
But unless you do a background check, how do you know?
-
Not in ohio, and not for long nationally... http://www.ibtimes.com/guns-kill-more-people-car-accidents-14-us-states-1119072 Again, as cars are developed, they become more efficient at transporting people safely from place to place. As guns are developed, they become more efficient at killing.
-
So what the fuck is the point in requiring background checks at gun dealers when no second hand sales require them?
-
Right, but if I use those sites like I use craigslist (cash in hand meet to transfer possession) then I can just pay and carry. Seems the easiest way to get your hands on some weapons if you've been in trouble with the law before. Also I can walk into any gun shop and buy all the ammunition I want, as well as a bunch of assorted gun powders... no questions asked.

So I can't contact one of the sellers on there, arrange a meeting and hand them cash for their firearms?
