    IT Crash

I got laid off couple years ago, and never recovered. NOw I have been out of to long and dont have the right skill set or some such. So now I turn wrenches, making half what I did before. It really sucks, but thats life. I was working at worldcom/mci/compuserve had 5 years expericence and loved my job. But I was in a niche and got caught w/ the wrong skills at the wrong time. Anyways what brought this question on? If you dont mind me asking. [ 06. July 2004, 12:50 AM: Message edited by: Slow69 ]
  9. Looks good, but you already know I would pick a WRX over it. Have fun on thur and let me know if you pick one.
  10. Glad to hear it. Broken toys suck, I have been helping Maro work on his 95. Boy LT1s arent fun to work on.
  11. Thats funny I was up there this last sat too. Small world. It was a nice day for racing though it took them forever to get the tree working.
  12. Simple problem, For some reason my computer keeps wanting to save pics from the web as Bitmaps. Thats my only choice. I am not sure what I changed or added to make it do this. I just noticed this like the other day, so it hasnt been doing it forever. Sometimes it will save a pic as a jpeg or whatever formate the pic is in, but most times its a bitmap. Why the hell is it doing this, it is driving me up a wall. I spent a while trying to figure it out the other night, but no luck. Any suggestions?
  13. Due to the lack of a job, I wont be doing the engine build up I wanted. I have the spare block, waiting, but thats as far as I can go right now. What I am planning on doing is putting the heads I got for it on the motor I have in the car now. I was possible thinking of doing a cam swap as well. Do you guys have any recomendations? My car is not a track car, yes I want it to run as fast as I can get it, but its a driver. Here is my set up I have now: 400 SMC 750 Holley DP Edelbrock(sp?) Performer Intake(Will prolly get a RPM intake when I do the heads) Heads: Chevy Camel hump 62cc Chambers, 2.02/1.60(?) Valves, ported & polished Hooker headers. B&M 2000 Stall Converter TH350 Tranny w/ Shift kit. So, what do you guys think I should get? Cam specs are my worst topic, I understand what everything means as far as RPM range, lift, duration, Hydrolic(sp?), Solid, BUT not really sure what specs would be the best for my car.
  14. I was wondering the same thing. With the motor rebuild this winter I am on a bugdet so no new headers for me. I will paint them with something while I have the motor out. So if you guys find something that works let me know. Thanks
  15. Right now as she sits 212 RwHp 307 RwTq This was done on Brians dyno at the last Fbody dyno day. I have a newer set of heads sitting on the floor behind me which are going on this winter. So hopefully that will be going up by 30 some hp(hopefully). No idea on the weight of a first gen. I might look it up tonight. I really dont think a 400 weighs any more than a 350. 16. Captain obvious here, but you could start pulling fuses on things to see when the drain on the bat stops. You know how to check to see if theres a drain on the bat if the ignition is off right? We had problems with the 67 vette we were working on at the shop. Turned out to be the wipers were pulling power for some reason. Let me know if you need any help. I can stop over sometime this week if ya need.

    DAMN IT!!!

Check the firing order again. We put a 302 w/351 heads into a ranger, and it took us forever to get the firing order right. It wasnt 302's order. I think it was a 351's but could be wrong. We ended up switching wires around till it was running on all 8 cylinders.
  18. Its all good. Considering your source you would have thought the info would be good. It was prolly just wishful thinking on the trusty's part. Wow! that was some webpage. hehe. I should email them and tell them I will do it for free just as long as I can race for free.
  19. Went to the COCC meeting tonight and talked to the guy that owns American Muscle Cars off east main in Reynoldsburg(sp?). He said it was still open just under new management. He has the schedule for 2002, when I get it I will post. I know its only 1/8th mile but I plan on going up there soon as the weather is nice.
  20. If you had the chance what engine would you build for you car? When my current motor huffs in the camaro, I plan on either building a 383, or if I can find and cheap 400 chevy block then a 406. I doubt I will have huge compression, my plan for my car is to be a driver. So, running on 94 gas is a must. Really for power adders the only one I would consider is Nitrous. There ya go. That is the next engine I plan on building. Hopefully that wont be for a couple of years(knock on wood) I know most of you wouldnt actually build a new engine, but mod your current setup. That in itself is a whole nother thread.
