Haha so really the terrible estimate will help me get my bike back cheaper?
-
So I know how to go about talking up the value of my bike, but if I do will that raise their expected price for me to buy it back? How can I haggle down their buy back price?
-
Well thats the thing, there is no mechanical damage to the bike. I've been looking over the estimate and many parts are uncalled for, such as a new tank which adds $1000 itself, they want to buy me a new Yosh RS-3, new passenger seat and pegs, a new front wheel and rear swing arm. Im not sure if this is standard procedure for things like this but it seems absurd to me they are replacing many of the parts they have listed. I have the ability to take the bike to another shop where they will let basically build my own estimate. I dont know whether it would be better to total the bike and get back as much cash as possible and a salvage title, or it make my own estimate at a lower price, still risk totaling or selling myself short, but keep the clean title. Ill post up scan of the estimate later today.

Back from the grave. Got my insurance quote today from the local yami dealer. Unless I had some collectors edition R6 it's totaled. They want $10,433.61 for repairs.
-
I'll make it out if on two conditions. A. The 3 weddings Im supposed to attend that day dont interfere. B. I have a bike by then.
-
Figured as much. Thanks.

http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/1841777452.html Someone should hop on this. I dont have the money unless they total my bike for that amount lol. Then again it could be a scam.
-
lol its like Trials, but not fun.
-
I installed two 35w bulbs in the R6, I've never had an issue and I will never drive a bike without HIDs again.
-
I appreciate the effort, but I'd be swimming in the XL and I dont have a spare $150 right now.
-
I didnt mean to come across as immature or anything, its just frustrating cause i know i need gear but im only working part time and am looking for another job so even a cheap jacket isnt really an option right now. Though i appreciate the offers. As far as 'making the community look bad'. Yeah riding with just a helmet t shirt and jeans doesnt portray the best image but I'm also nothing like the guys that hang out at Rising Park.
-
Well I do suppose if i sold my bike I could get a jacket...yeah thats what I'll do. I dont want to get in an argument over this, but honestly whether i was in a full track suit or a tshirt, in this particular accident, it wouldnt have made a difference. Yeah I'd be down a few scratches but those dont concern me it was the blunt impact of me landing on my shoulder that injured it. Leather or cotton, my shoulder would still hurt. Yeah if i wouldve gone down in gravel or on the asphalt itd be a different story. I didnt though. So please dont lecture me on gear, I dont have a spare couple hundred to spend right now and if you want to say that i shouldnt ride without it then I'm sorry thats my choice, it wont kill you when i wreck without gear.
-
Knew that the gear question would catch up eventually...so you all can call me out on not having gear or you can all pitch in and buy me a jacket
-
Standout, Yes and yes, its 2 months old to me. Benyen, I think you got the spot, its really only like 3 minutes from the end of the ride, there are 4 turns down the hill and its pretty woodsy. Like I said I had the same reaction as you last time, I went way too slow I guess this time i was going a lil fast.

So kinda funny but if you follow this Google maps link http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=278+nelsonville+ohio&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=46.812293,93.076172&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Ohio+278,+Nelsonville,+Ohio+45764&ll=39.446933,-82.285664&spn=0.001402,0.00284&z=19&layer=c&cbll=39.446859,-82.285816&panoid=csWiv3ld7zJZAFze-k5lAw&cbp=12,86.72,,0,21.32 and you follow the yellow line thats pretty much spot on the route that I took.

I dunno, it would be nice to get Yamaha to do it cause they would want an arm and a leg so I'd be getting a fat check. Doc's doesn't do much with imports so I'm a little leery.
-
They called a bit ago and want me to go get an estimate, so if anyone has any suggestions for a repair shop around Lancaster let me know.
-
lol, i actually stopped at the gas station in Nelsonville to get zip ties to hold the front of the bike on and the cashier has a whole bag laying there and its like "O these are for our 'something or other', I don't know if I'm allowed to give you any"...
-
What happened? I don't really remember. Me and Shawn were on 278 just outside Nelsonville and there is a big hill with some twisties on it, first time I rode it I got spooked and slowed down like a gma, this time I want to keep an okay pace through it, I wasnt really pushing just trying to keep it over the 10 MPH I did last time. Went through the first right, which goes right back into a left and I just went straight instead, braked as much as I could before I got to the grass and then it was over.
-
So went through the hocking hills last night and found out that my R6 doesn't handle well once it leaves the pavement. Ill put some pictures once i get motivated enough to do it. All in all i got lucky. Nothing broke on me just cant move my shoulder much and a few cuts and scrapes. The bike didnt get so lucky, but its still mechanically sound, so depending on the insurance outcome I might be joining the street fighter club.

I may be up for something. Gotta see how tomorrow pans out.

Yeah normally thats pretty true. Last night it was packed though. We got permission from the owner though to do thursday night beer pong games, hoping to organize a tournament by the end of summer.

Clearly everyone here knows how bad of an idea it is, this isnt a lecture against it. Just a reminder of the dangers. Tonight I was a small bar in Lancaster, The Fairview, NightRider was with me but left early. After last call a guy got on his Harley and left, I went inside to use a restroom and when I came back all my friends were missing, I found out the rider went down in the alley behind the bar. So I ran over and turns out the guy either destroyed his ankle and/or his tibia/fibula. Me and my friends helped him up and got him the proper medical attention and parked his bike for him. This is the first time I've seen somene seriously injured on a bike and it hit home so again I'm not lecturing anyone just be safe and think twice.
