  1. RC... Hands down!

Fun to ride, fun to own... May be down on HP in comparison to the I4s, but has more soul than you'll know what to do with. One of the most fun aspects of sport-twins is that unless you're balls-out hauling arse, you rarely have to even touch your brake levers to prepare for the corners.

The CBR is a fantastic bike: light, fast, reliable, and controlled; and if I could have two bikes I'd probably own one... But I have no intentions of getting rid of my RC.

Not to mention, the Sato soundtrack (noticed them in your pics) is simply amazing!

  2. Ok...

There is no such thing as a "Black Only College"... I think that the institutions in question are known as HBCUs, an acronym for Historically Black College and University.

These were established (as Looney stated) to give minority students (the ones who were bussed to lower-quality black or "colored" schools) an opportunity to achieve at an institution of higher learning after finishing high school. Historically, students at these institutions have been of a myriad of racial backgrounds, not just African-American... Although African-Americans may make up anywhere from 75-90% of the population.

For the record, George Washington Carver (a man of sheer genius) was sent acceptance letters to many schools, only to have a couple of schools rescind the acceptance status when he showed up to visit the campus and officials noticed that he was black. It was situations like these which established the need for HBCUs.

NOTE: My post has NOTHING to do with basketball. I will say this though (to remain on topic). If someone wants to start a private whites only league with his OWN money... So be it, that's his life, and his cash. Just don't send your kids out sellling fund-raiser chocolate bars for uniform money. LOL

  3. True that it blows, but I agree with RSVDon in that these are some of the "bugs" that I'd imagine come along with developing an engine for the first time. One could argue that extensive testing should have uncovered the problem, but in many cases, testing to that extent would annihilate the prod. schedule. That and they most likely didn't test many (if any) of the engines going in the US spec bikes.

Regarding Ape service/wait time on parts being some arse, that's the same thing that I was told by a major Ducati/Aprilia dealer in the Washington, DC area. As a result, they were getting out of carrying the line. It was that guy's honesty that kept me from buying an RSVr.

  4. I use my horn frequently... How else am I supposed to gain someone's attention before giving them the finger?!!?:D J/K.

Seriously though, a beep or two to wake someone up is fine, but I HATE it when someone is just laying on the horn (unless they mindlessly cut you off whilst texting, eating, drinking, getting/giving head, etc... At this point, you're at liberty to just do what you feel.).

I also don't like it when someone beeps the horn in a residential area to get their friend to come outside... Whatever happened to getting out of the car and walking to the door? If you're in a hurry (or can't park), why not just whip out your trusty mobile telephone and give them a ring?

  5. It's a connecting rod issue. From an outside supplier I believe. I'm happy to see they're just replacing whole motors. No way in hell I'm paying $21k for a bike that has a hand rebuild motor from a dealership.

I think it's good that Aprilia is stepping up to the plate and making sure this issue is fixed. It's definitely a big one.

+1! Good on them for making this right!

  6. I'm not military, but I'm a consultant working on a military contract. There's a DoubleTree in a neighborhood called Foggy Bottom (right off of George Washington University's campus), that's really good and honored the government rate when I was going there.

There's also the Conneticut Hilton (on Conn. Ave in DuPont Circle). Very nice place which also honors the gov't. rate.

PM me if you need any info on places to hang out. I used to live in DC before moving here. A lot of my friends and fam still live there, so I get back there a few times per year.

  7. Superbike is my favorite. Many have already mentioned the downsides of the Euro magazines. I do really appreciate the magazine's content and style. Another cool thing is that they flog the sh*t out of the test bikes... That, and the gratuitous nekkidness of the women in the posters also helps:D.

  8. But these churches are not just doing these things with no message. They use the money to help them further grow and gain more members. There are plenty of companies that do the same thing and they are using their money that has been taxed. Toys for tots can be taxed, but they should be able to write off all the taxes because they gained nothing from their venture. Churches gain land/bldgs/cars/planes/entire companies to print their stuff. When toys for tots is over all you have is allot of happy kids.

That's true among some churches. I've never been a member of, or even attended a service in one of those mega-churches. Truth be told, I've never been to church in OH, so the only time that I attend is when I'm back home with my family. That said, some organizations do perpetuate a message with their giving, and others only perpetuate the message of giving. And that's how it should be. Charity for charity's sake.

  9. I Just think its unfair that they dont work for their money and they dont get taxed on the free money they get. And my point exactly if i dont give money to the govt i go to jail. Churches should have to pay to. Churches will have no more power if they are taxed, because it still all comes down to a vote. And if they have even less money they cant buy off people to get their issues past. This has nothing to do with god or my beliefs, but more to do with fairness. I would love to build a shop and be tax free. Bikes are my god and bikes have many worshipers. The govt shouldnt be able to not tax god churches but tax my bike church. We would do all our services for donations and we could build a giant worship track.

I think that we're looking at the "church" as a person, and not a building/institution. The vast majorith of the money being donated to the church comes from its paritioners. These people work, get paid, pay taxes, and donate some portion of their NET income to the church. The only individuals (pastor/preist/etc.) who actually receives monetary compensation from the church, must pay taxes on this income. So the church (it's paritioners) does work for it's money.

  10. Don't tax churches.

As stated before, church contributions are donations, and donations shouldn't be taxed. That said, then you'd have to look at taxing the Toys for Tots drive (just an example) as well. Hell, each year, my GF and I adopt a family. So would you expect a family (who's probably already struggling) to tally up the cash value of the toys, clothing, food, etc. and pay taxes on those items?

Another thing to consider is that most churches do TONS of community service projects to further benefit the local society. Food drives, habitat for humanity, transporting the elderly and sick to their Dr. appointments and to get their medication. Not to mention tutoring services, and some even host after school programs (a big help now that many rec. centers were closed down due to the declining budget.).
